Chapter 44 - ch- 44 The Birth of a Stormborne Dragon God

Dawn's quiet hush wrapped the Evergreen Lake in misty silver.

Akg stood barefoot on the dew-damp grass, eyes closed. The Wave Power coursed through him like a tide; he felt the pulse of every nearby life-form, each aura a ripple on calm water. A stray Pidgey's curiosity, a Bidoof's drowsy contentment—he sensed them all.

He raised one hand.

A fallen twig lifted, suspended by Psychic Power, then drifted into his grasp. With a thought, he sent it gliding across the lake's surface in perfect circles—testing finesse, not force. Rena watched, delight shining in her eyes.

"Your control is already beautiful," she whispered telepathically.

Akg answered silently—his thoughts flowing to hers without words. "Let's push it a little."

He focused, extended his aura like invisible fingers and—whump—a momentary pulse radiated outward, parting the lake's mist in a ring fifty metres wide. Water Pokémon below peeped up in surprise but felt no fear; his signal carried calm, not domination.

He exhaled, a smile tugging at his lips. "I'm ready for the next step."

...

The vial of Storm Dragon God Blood gleamed in the early sun—liquid lightning swirling within. Akg knelt by the shoreline and released Gyarados. The massive serpent coiled, respectful yet eager.

"You've reached Elite low-tier on your own," Akg said. "This gift can take you far beyond—but only if your body and spirit accept it."

Rena projected a soothing psychic field, making the atmosphere serene. Gyarados bowed his great head in assent.

Akg pricked his finger, letting a single crimson drop fall into the vial—a ritual catalyst—and then tipped one measured drop of the storm-deity blood onto the crest between Gyarados's eyes.

The change was instant.

A roar thundered across the valley as azure scales flashed white-gold, then deepened to a shimmering storm-blue veined with crackling electricity. Clouds whirled above, spiral winds whipping the lake into towering waves. Lightning forked down, yet every bolt curved to kiss—not scorch—the evolving titan.

Rena raised a psychic barrier around Akg but soon realized it was unnecessary; the aura he now wielded shaped the tempest, bending it away from them.

When the light finally dimmed, a new legend hovered above the water:

"The sky trembles when this form appears. Legends tell of a sea guardian reborn as a god, ruler of oceans and storms."

Akg raised his palm, channeling Wave Power. Gyarados felt the gentle command and answered by dispersing the storm clouds, calming the wind to a breeze. Not a single tree was harmed.

Akg's heart swelled with pride.

"Welcome, Stormborne partner."

The mighty dragon dipped his head—loyalty absolute.

By late afternoon the lake was still again. Exhaustion finally tugged at Akg's newly awakened mind, but his spirit soared.

He recalled Gyarados, and with Rena's hand in his, walked home beneath a sky now clear and bright. Tomorrow, the world would learn of a thunder god dwelling in Pallet's waters—but tonight, he simply rested, dreaming of infinite horizons he and his partners would explore together.
