Chapter 23 - Changing Seasons

Ari is walking towards his cell, tired and exhausted from his previous battles. He stops, someone is in front of him,

"Hey bro. You're Ari right?"

Ari stops and removes his hands from his pockets,

'I can't get into another fight now…'

Ari looks around the prison for potential exits,

'No luck…'

"I guess you are, lucky me." The student in front of him says, he has orange and yellow hair.

Ari gets in a fighting stance,

"Aye bro, I've been stalking you. I know you're real tired right now, and I know I'm your target."

Ari's eyes widen, 'Tlen? He's been pursuing me? How didn't I notice?'

"You too scared to fight me when I'm at my best or something?" Ari replies cockily,

The student laughs,

"Nah, you're just not my target. But since we're here, I might as well take you out." He says while shrugging,

"I'd like to see you try!" Ari replies,

He jumps back in the prison and tries to find something, anything to get him out of this position.

Tlen removes his right hand from his pocket,

"Let's go, Huracán." He smirks,

The right side of his arm and body begin to transform into a skeletal armor that envelops him.

He lunges straightforward at Ari,

'He's fast! I can't dodge!'

Ari puts his arms up to dodge, but it's futile, Tlen connects with a massive tackle, knocking the air out of Ari, sending him flying,

"That should do it." Tlen's right side starts to humanize again,

Ari is flying through walls, each impact crashing harder than the last, he's out cold.

When he crashes far away, prison building debris collapses on him.

Elsewhere, Carmelo, Ana, and the two instructors just stopped by a beach,

"Are you sure this is the place, Mr. … uh… what's your name again?" Carmelo asks one of the instructors,

The instructor tenses up.

"I'm Chavez, sir… yes, this should be the spot. I feel a slight unsettling red Mana right, here." He taps on the sand with his foot,

Carmelo and Ana look around awkwardly,

"Well, there's just an ocean here, I don't see my son, do you see my son, Ana?" Carmelo asks sarcastically,

Ana shakes her head in silence,

The other instructor, stares at Chavez annoyed.

"You're wasting their time." He whispers,

Chavez laughs awkwardly,

"M-maybe he's here somewhere, huh?"

Carmelo walks up and grabs Chavez by his collar, he easily picks him up off the ground and stares at him menacingly,

"You're lying to me, aren't you?" He says frighteningly,

Chaves panics, "N-no! Of course not, sir! I promise! I felt it surging here…"

The other instructor, Blocs, tries to intervene,

"Hey. Put him down," He says seriously, he walks up and grabs Carmelo's arm,

Carmelo easily pushes Blocs off him,

"Ow!" He says as he lands on his butt,

"Those at the church didn't know much either…" Carmelo whispers to himself,

"B-but I-I-I-I-If I were lying, you wouldn't have run into her, right?" Chavez says in a panic,

Carmelo turns around and stares at Ana, he takes a deep breath,

"I guess he's right." Carmelo releases Chavez from his hold and offers a hand to help Blocs up,

Chavez breathes heavy, "Are you okay?" Blocs asks,

"Y-yeah, I'm fine." Chavez replies,

"I'm sorry about that." Carmelo says quietly,

Ana steps up,

"If we work as a team, maybe we'll find clues together. Let's examine my father's scriptures again." She suggests,

"Alright… let's do that…" Carmelo replies…

Hours later, in Chuq City, far away, at the summit of some mountains.

THWACK!

"Wow, that actually hurt a little." Prince chuckles,

Saint chuckles back, "Really?"

Prince waves his wrist, "Really. That was a cheap shot, though."

Saint laughs, "You just weren't quick enough!" He lunges towards Prince and throws a barrage of punches,

Prince closes his eyes and deflects each punch with 1 arm,

Saint jumps back, breathing heavy.

"Show off."

"My turn!" Prince speeds off against Saint, trying to grab a hold of him, Saint evades every attempt with poise,

'He's learning quick…' Prince thinks to himself proudly,

Then Prince throws a quick right hook that Saint couldn't react to.

The punch hit Saint in his cheek, sending him flying some meters away.

"Damn, I knew you were gonna do that!" Saint says in frustration,

'He knew, huh?' Prince thinks,

"Alright, training's over for today, we'll continue tomorrow."

Saint gets up, "Yeah, yeah." He says bitterly,

Prince grabs two water bottles from his cool box, he throws one to Saint.

He catches, "Thanks."

They sit down by a campfire, "Hey Prince, I realized that um… I don't really know much about you or the others, I was wondering if you could like… you could tell me about yourself…" Saint says hesitantly,

Prince stares at him with a raised eyebrow,

"I'm flattered, but I don't swing that way."

Saint's eyes widen in shock,

"What? N-no! I didn't-"

He gets cut off by Prince's laughter,

"Relax, I'm joking…" He says,

Saint looks at him annoyed, before chuckling himself,

"I hear you, honestly. We all don't know much about each other, but our bond is deep. When Jovi first recruited us, one of his main rules were to never speak about our past, to never really get to know each other." Prince says in a calm, sad like tone.

Saint takes a sip of his water, listening intently,

"Why?" He asks,

"To make the grieving of losing each other easier. The way we operate, we're bound to lose someone eventually." He replies,

Prince takes a deep breath,

"Jovi is smart, probably smarter than all of us combined. That's why we follow him, he's our leader for a reason."

Saint remembers the bond the group had with each other before he and Prince left to train.

"That's why, Saint. If push comes to shove, we have to be prepared, for anything. We follow Jovi's orders, not only as colleagues, but family."

Prince gets up,

"Get some sleep, sorry I couldn't give you an answer you wanted."

Saint nods, and gets up quickly,

"Hey Prince." He calls out firmly,

Prince turns around,

"I won't let anyone down." Saint says,
