Date: 24 October 2012
The early morning sun cut through the blinds in Alex's house, painting lines of light across his floor. He sat up slowly, still feeling the buzz of Old Trafford's floodlights in his bones from last night.
United 3 – 2 Braga.Another win.Another assist.Another step forward.
As he reached for the glass of water on his nightstand, it happened.

Carrington Training Ground – Later That Day
"Chelsea away," Rooney muttered, stretching his calves on the sideline. "They'll be fuming after dropping points to QPR."
Alex jogged past him and smirked. "What, scared of blue shirts?"
"Not scared," Rooney grinned. "Just hate losing to smug Londoners."
"Especially when they wear headbands and think they're kings," chimed in Evans, walking by with a grin. "Looking at you, Mata."
Carrick tossed Alex a bib as drills began. "You've got their left-back on toast if you play like you did against Braga."
"Who's starting on their left, Cole or Bertrand?" Alex asked, slipping the bib over his head.
"Doesn't matter," said Valencia, cracking his knuckles. "You go at 'em the same. Quick, clean, no fear."
"Just watch the dive merchants," Rooney added with a sideways glance. "Hazard, Oscar — blink and you're giving away a penalty."
"And don't let Luiz bait you," Cleverley chimed in. "He'll smile while stepping on your foot."
"Thanks for the horror reel, lads," Alex muttered, adjusting his laces.
From across the pitch, Sir Alex watched in silence, arms crossed. The coaching staff whispered beside him, but he said nothing — just observed.
A storm was coming — Chelsea, Arsenal, more Champions League. But for now, the training ground felt calm. Like the quiet before a war.
Alex stood in line for the first possession drill. His mind buzzed — the bridge, the boos, the system humming just under his skin.
One more chance to prove he belonged.
Carrington Locker Room – Post Training
Cleverley grinning, waving his phone"Bro @Alex, you checking Instagram? Your turn and cross has four million views!"
Phil Jones leans over with a mock gasp"You mean the one where Van Persie's face looks like he saw God?"
Alex chuckling "Nah, he just saw an assist with flavor."
Rooney smirking"Enjoy the clout now. They'll double you in London."
Valencia deadpan "Or triple. Maybe put the tea lady on you too."
Kagawa winking"Time to kill another giant, eh Alex?"
Evans holds up a phone "You lot see the comments? Some Chelsea fan wrote, 'Send this child back to FIFA Career Mode.'"
Alex grins "They'll say GG when I put their full-backs in a blender."
Welbeck from across the room "Only blender you've got is that dodgy fade your barber gave you."
Smalling mock serious "It's not dodgy. It's... expressive."
De Gea quietly, with his thick Spanish accent "Is like... teenage Iniesta but with Instagram."
Everyone laughs
Fletcher(walking in, towel around his shoulders "Alright, save the Telly comedy special for later. You've got Lampard, Ramires and Mata waiting to run you into the ground."
Alex smirking "Good. I brought boots and receipts."
Rooney shaking his head with a grin "Kid's got lines now too. We've created a monster."
Valencia gruffly, already tying his laces "Just be the monster after the whistle."
The laughter dies down as Sir Alex's voice echoes from down the hall.
Sir Alex with a firm voice "Five minutes, lads. Recovery, ice baths. No shortcuts."
The room settles. But as Alex heads out, his phone buzzes again.
New message from @premierleague_official:"Alex Marshall's cross for Van Persie: Pass of the week nominee."
He smiled.
As the night rolled on, Alex sat on the bed in his room— hoodie up, watching the Manchester night skyline.
Chelsea next.
Another fire.
And he was ready to step into it.
