Alyssa
I-I...um, the words feel stuck in my throat, at the same time my legs feel heavy. I can't actually believe that he started getting intimate with her just a few hours after our
divorce. If he's this lovey-dovey with her, then that means he has moved on, so quickly.
"Lyssa..." he calls out my name again, and I regain my composure. I need to get a hold of
myself. He's no longer my husband, and in a few hours he'll reject me and break our mate bond.
I clear my throat and ask, "Did I interrupt something?" I stare at Elowen who is looking at me with so much hate in her gaze. From her acts, one would think she's innocent, but honestly, she's deceptive and malicious.
Damien's gaze narrows as he places his hand on his mouth. He does that when he's angry and curious. Then he replies, "You did," and once again I'm struck and broken by
his words.
"Lyssa, you should get used to the fact that you need to ask the Alpha for his permission before entering his chambers."
My lips part in shock as my brows furrow in confusion. "What?!"
"You heard me, let it sink into that thick skull of yours. The only reason why I'll let this slide
is because we aren't officially rejected and you're still my mate till a few hours." His words put me in an icy chokehold. Just a few hours and our relationship has gotten this sour. Geez! Where was the man who waited for me several times in bed to fall asleep before doing the same? I can't still wrap
my head around it that HE IS GONE! I don't even recognize him anymore.
"WOW! I didn't know it was your room now, AL-PHA. The same room we shared for three
years," I retort, crossing my arms. My eyes flit to the bed where he was sitting with Elowen on his lap.
His jaw clenches at my words, "We're divorced now, so isn't it obvious that we won't be sharing the same room anymore?" He tilts his head, gauging my reaction.
I smirk, "Sure, you won't like me barging into your 'ROOM' while you spend quality time with your so-called MATE!" I emphasize the last word as my gaze shifts to Elowen.
"Lyssa, before you say anything to insult my true mate, I'll warn you, I have been lenient with you, but I won't be this time. I'll advise you choose your words wisely." He spoke in a low commanding tone, reminding me of who is truly in charge.
His words crush my soul. It's as if I have become a problem that needs to be gotten rid of all of a sudden.
"D, it's alright," Elowen says, as she moves closer to him and slides her hands over his shoulder. "I understand that she's hurt, so I'm totally fine with it."
A low growl leaves my lips as I stare at her hand placement. Damien raises his brows, and I realize what I have done. He's still my mate and it is not easy for me to watch someone touch him, even if that person is his true mate.
"I-I am sorry I made you upset, Lyssa," Elowen looks at me with quivering lips. "But
you have to understand that I love him and can't stay away from him." Tears filled her eyes and she starts to sob.
"BABY! Please don't cry. It's not your fault," Damien gets up and wraps his arms around
her. My insides scream at this sight, but I don't utter a word. I silently watch him comfort her, when I'm truly the one in need of comfort.
"Lyssa and I have a mutual understanding and agreement concerning this situation, and we made our decisions already, so no need to beat yourself up."
I scowl. It was never my decision to get separated from him.
Damien looks at me with a straight face, "You did not tell me why you are here." His voice is
gentle as always, but I can tell that he does not want me here. He feels that I will sabotage his relationship with Elowen.
My jaw trembles, "It's nothing. I am sorry for interrupting whatever you both were doing," I storm out of the door while the tears trickle down my eyes. The paintings and furniture in the hallway start to look unfamiliar as I rush past them. Why? Why do I have to feel like this?
My head starts to throb, and I stop in my steps. I feel dizzy. The nausea grows, crawling up my chest and through my blurry vision, I see two figures on the other side of the hall. They look concerned as they walk towards me.
"Luna, are you alright?" I recognize the voice. It's Sydney. "You look sick—"
I don't hear the rest of her sentence as the air shifts, and I grace the floor. Shadows dance in my vision before everything turns dark.
--------
Beep. Beep.
My eyes flutter open on hearing a sound, and I find myself in a hospital bed. A dull ache throbs in my head.
"She's awake," I feel Sydney's warm hand on my back as I slowly get up. She helps me sit.
"Thank God!" Emma exclaims as she stands beside her. They are twins, and work for me in the pack.
I groan, feeling the same throbbing sensation. "I passed out."
"Yeah. We brought you to the hospital as soon as possible. Are you okay now?" Emma asks.
I nod, "Yeah."
The door opens, and a woman walks in wearing a white coat and holding a clipboard. "Oh, you're awake. That's good," she says with a smile as she approaches me. My gaze
falls onto the tag on her coat.
Dr. Michelle, Senior Gynecologist.
"Is it an infection?" I ask.
Her smile widens, "No, Luna. I have good news for you. I hope that the Alpha throws us a party after this," she says and my frown deepens. My gaze shifts to Emma and Sydney. Emma shrugs while Sydney shakes her head.
"I don't understand," I say.
"Congratulations, my Luna. You are pregnant," she replies.
