Chapter 26 - CHAPTER 26:From Heartache to Happily Ours

Xiang returned to his cabin, smiling at his phone like a teenager in love.

Just then, Assistant Gu walked in, carrying a stack of files.

He dropped them onto the desk with a thud—

and somehow, the breeze that followed felt like a fresh gust of reality hitting Xiang's face.

Still grinning, Xiang leaned back in his chair, hugging his phone like it was a precious secret.

Gu cleared his throat.

> "Mr. Xiang."

No response.

He tried again.

> "Xiang."

Still nothing.

Finally, with an exasperated sigh, he said loudly,

> "Hey, old man!"

That did the trick.

Xiang blinked and looked up.

> "Did you call me, Assistant Gu?"

Gu mumbled under his breath:

> "See? When I call him by name, he doesn't hear.

But the moment I say 'old man'—boom, alert and ready.

That confirms it. He really is an old man."

Then louder, he added:

> "Here, sir. These are the documents that need your signature."

Xiang smiled—embarrassed, but still glowing from whatever message he had just read—and nodded.

Gu let out a dramatic sigh and turned to leave, muttering something about "lovesick CEOs" and "romantic epidemics in the workplace."

---

It was Saturday—our first official date.

I couldn't stop smiling.

We had overcome so many twists and turns, and now we were finally living the happiness I once only dreamed of.

If only I could go back and talk to my old self...

I'd say:

> "Zhou Ye, don't be heartbroken.

Fate had other plans for you.

Just enjoy the moment.

Admire him if you want to—don't stop.

Because one day…

He's going to be your future husband."

---

A message from Xiang popped up on my phone:

> "I'm coming to pick you up."

I jumped out of bed, ate my breakfast, and wore my favorite pink cotton dress, leaving my hair loose.

I was almost ready when I heard a knock at the door.

---

Xiang stood outside, thinking it was me who would answer.

Without looking up, he grinned and said in a singsong voice:

> "My baby, are you ready~?"

But silence answered him.

When he finally looked up—

his smile froze.
