Chapter 4 - Lingling's

Lingling's was an incredibly popular Chinese restaurant to all staff of The Evadolon. Thorne had heard these guys talk about how amazing the food was and it came affordable. So with Dale on his shoulder, they went.

It was small, with red and orange signs written in Chinese. One could smell the faint aroma of delicious food from outside. Thorne's stomach rumbled.

"Seems like you're really hungry," Dale said, munching down on a peanut,

"Shut your fat mouth," Thorne scowled.

The door made the faint ding ding sound as they walked in. There were five tables with a bar and a cash point. Thorne walked up to the counter.

"Some soup dumplings, please," he said to the attractive girl behind it.

She smiled. "Coming right up."

Just then, a bullet hit the glass. Then two. Then thousands rained down until it shattered. The girl's face grew dark and terrifying as a group of men in ash coloured suits stormed.

"Give us the flash drive!" The leader, a pale man with blue dyed hair yelled. "Then only a few people'll get hurt."

"Boss was right," the girl mumbled. Then she pressed two fingers on what Thorne had previously presumed to be an ear bud. "Everyone, they're here. Come quick!"

And proceeded to pull a knife from her apron and charge forward.

On a normal basis, the girl would've died but the green barrier that simmered around her deflected every bullet that came at her. She stabbed a shooter and sliced the necks of another two with such precision, it was scary.

"You bitch," the leader growled and lunged for her. In a flash, his hand was around her throat and the knife had skittered to the floor next to Thorne.

He picked it up and jumped behind the counter.

"What are you doing?" Dale yelled at him. "Go fight!"

"And lose my life?" Thorne rationalised. "No thanks."

Five men appeared from the staff door. They didn't have any weapons but their aura spooked everyone in the shop. Thorne felt it even though he didn't see them.

"Let go of Sal," a tall, blonde girl said, calmly.

"Then give me the flash drive," the blue haired guy said.

A boy with pink hair dug it out of his pocket. It was dark blue and looked new.

"Think I'm gonna fall for that?" The blue haired guy said. "We know what the real flash looks like."

The pink guy looked disappointed and brought out another one. This one was bright green with a cheery sticker on it.

The leader of the shooters grinned. "Yes," he said, practically drooling, "give it to me."

"Let go of Sal," the blonde girl said again.

Sal dropped out of the guy's hand as he let go off her. A tall guy and a girl with brown hair rushed to help her.

"The flash drive," the blue haired guy drooled. His voice was more beastly, his eyes became wild.

The pink haired guy threw it over the counter and it landed right next to Thorne.
