Chapter 13 - Bloodlust

The instant Alexander's fangs sank into Dylan's neck, a rush of blood surged into his mouth. It felt warm and intoxicating like honey.

His body trembled as instinct took over.

With unnatural strength, Alexander hoisted his prey and dashed towards the edge of a nearby cliff. At the same time, the system's voice echoed in his mind.

[Nullification Rune has been deactivated]

Leaping high, they hovered mid-air for a moment before gravity took over.

"Young Master!" Ren screamed, eyes wide with shock. Just as he stepped forward to follow after him, a sudden sharp chill made him jump back.

A split second later, jagged shards of ice exploded where he had stood moments ago.

"You're not going anywhere..." Freya said with a grin, her confidence reignited with her elemental power back. "Not when the fight just begun."

Meanwhile, Alexander and Dylan plummeted. As they plunged, Alexander's grip tightened. His body yearned for more blood.

"Argghh! Get off me! You fucking animal!" Dylan thrashed wildly struggling to free himself. But Alexander's grip only grew tighter.

Realising his elemental power was back, he instantly conjured slabs of earth, to break their fall. They crashed hard the impact breaking the terrain.

Falling from such a height won't have done much harm to him, but he needed every power to fight off the now transformed Alexander.

Alexander had some of his bones broken from the impact but they had healed instantly.

Now, on the ground, Dylan sent more slabs of earth slamming into Alexander's rib. Loud cracking sound of bones echoed over the area, yet the wounds healed instantly.

Alexander growled feeling his grip slipping from his prey. Clenching his fist in fury, he reeled back and slammed his fist into Dylan's chest. Then gripping tightly, he opened his mouth and bit down once again.

Dylan gasped as a wave of pain slammed into him. He felt his bones crack under the monstrous punch, his breathing becoming ragged.

Then came the slurping sound, the one that silenced everything else.

Dylan's eyes widened in horror as his strength faded. A strange energy seeped into his veins and down his core. His earth magic faltered as a paralysing sensation took over his body.

After what felt like eternity, Alexander finally released him.

Slowly, his body shifted back, claws and fangs retracting as if they had never been there.

"Ughh..." Alex groaned, clutching his head. "What the hell happened?..."

Then, the memories hit him. Flashes of the moment he lost control, and something else took over him. The rage, hunger and... blood.

"I...I drank... human blood."

Still struggling to regain his senses, his eyes drifted to the broken pale figure beside him.

Dylan was still breathing. Barely.

"This wasn't how I planned for you to go... but I guessed this works too," Alexander said calmly.

Stepping forward, Dylan twitched, barely able to move. His lips trembled as he stared at Alexander.

"No... get away..." He weakly said. "Y–You... beast. Now I understand... why they ordered your death."

Alexander said nothing. He grabbed his leg and pulled him across the rough terrain.

"N–No! What are you... doing?!" Alexander's expression was unreadable, hidden behind messy strands of his hair.

Without a word, he finally stopped and then wandered a few paces away.

Picking up a large stone that fit snuggly in his palm, he returned.

Sitting on of Dylan's chest, he lifted the rock high and brought it down.

CRUNCH!

"Arghhh... No! Please!"

Again. CRUNCH!!

Again. And again.

The sound of bone shattering echoed across the quiet area until... Silence.

Dylan's face was unrecognisable. Face shattered and bloodied with blood pooling beneath them.

Alexander sighed softly and stood up throwing the stone aside. Then coming to a pause, he sat atop him again.

Raising his head, he stared at the sky for a moment before getting to work.

With a bite of his finger, he drew a formation across Dylans broken face and activated the summoning process.

The system whispered in his ear as the air rippled.

[Blood Summon Successful!]

Blood swirled wildly coalescing into a massive figure.

A golem.

Five metres tall, forged of red crystal–like flesh, holding a huge club made from solidified blood.

[You've created a Blood golem]

[Grade: Uncommon]

[Rank: Warrior] [Lvl: 5]

Swiping the system notifications aside, he slowly stood up. His body brimming with energy.

Come to think of it, the hunger was gone.

A chill ran through him. He didn't want to experience that... not again.

And he had been lucky. Dylan was an enemy . But what if it had been someone else? Someone he cared about?

He muttered to himself.

"...Right. Note to drink blood once in a while. Unless you want to go crazy."

Strangely. It hadn't tasted bad either.

"Dammit... What am I even saying?"

Shaking the thoughts from his head, he exhaled deeply. Now wasn't the time to let his mind wander away.

First things first, he needed to check his stats.

He blinked.

'All of that... just from consuming the blood of one human?'

No wonder he felt stronger. Though he was still a Tier 1 magical warrior, he knew he was above that now.

"Nice. I've got more summon slots now..."

[Blood Summons: 18/50]

He could create fifty blood summons. The rest he decided to check later.

There was still a fight going on above.

Finding his way back wasn't hard. With his new strength, he was able to climb through the cliffside.

As he neared the edge he couldn't help but mutter his thoughts out.

"I hope Ren didn't kill her."

With one final leap, he emerged at the top.

His breathing hitched as he stared at the area before him. Eyes widened.

"What the hell happened here?!"
