A smile spread on her lips and her heart fluttered because of a name—Ryker!

She walked out of the room to her younger sister's room.
"I need some makeup. Let me look different for my man."
She knocked on the door but didn't receive a response. She could hear voices from outside.

She looked at Ryker as he got down from the bed naked. He grabbed his briefs and pants from the floor and put them on.
"I can't be with you, Valeigh. I want Alexa, not you."
Her head banged and her lips quivered. "What do you mean? Is this a joke to you? Am I a joke to you?"
"You're not a joke Valeigh. I just don't want you anymore."
She held the door for support and pointed her finger at him, tears streaming down her eyes.
"After everything Ryk, after everything I did for you. After—"
"What did you do for me?" His voice interrupted.
"I killed two pups because of you. I thought you really loved me. So this was deception all along."
"I can't accept the fact that an omega is my mate. I just can't." He rolled his sky blue orbs nonchalantly.
She shut her eyes tight and tears, hot tears dripped out of them. She turned around and ran out of the room.

"You can't go in, slave." A guard standing outside the hall sneered.

Alexa was walking daintily. Her arms intertwined with Ryker's.

A middle-aged man came down from the throne seat and walked towards her with a smile on his face. No, he walked past her, to them—Ryker and Alexa!
"Alexa! To what do I owe this unexpected visit?"
Valeigh swallowed. She was being ignored on purpose.
Alexa smirked, "Ask Valeigh."
He turned back to Valeigh with a scowl on his face. "You should start talking."
"I-I-I caught Alexa in bed with my mate. All this time, she has been having an affair with my mate." She sobbed, "They've been having an affair!"
Her father scoffed, "Was that why you interrupted a council meeting?"
Valeigh could not believe her ears! He was berating her for making a complaint.
"You didn't tell her, Ryker. Why?"
"I wanted to give you the honour, Alpha Caden." Ryker said with a light bow.
Valeigh's head spun around, "Tell me what?"
"Erase whatever you're thinking, Valeigh. He was never yours to begin with. Alexa is carrying his child and wedding preparations are ongoing."
Another voice said and she turned to see her elder sister, Vista.
"But he is my mate. It is a sin to have an affair with another lady when-"
"HE IS NO LONGER YOUR MATE!" Vista cut her off with a scowl.
Ryker stepped forward with a blank expression, "I reject the mate bond, Valeigh."
Her head banged, her body shook and her pale face turned paler, as if she were a ghost. She clutched the sides of the dress.
"I won't reject it, Ryker"
"You have no choice. You're just an omega."
Her heart fell in realization—he was right after all!
"You're invited to the wedding in two weeks," Alexa chimed, "by the way, that dress is ugly. I can't believe you thought it was pretty."
They bowed before the Alpha and walked out of the hall.
"Showtime is over Valeigh, Leave!" Her father ordered and she slowly raised herself from the floor, walking outside weakly.

He didn't reply, only staring at her.

The stranger's face darkened and he scowled, "What is it, Ian?"
"You've been missing for five hours, everyone was worried. Alpha Queen ordered me not to return until I find you."
He rolled his eyes and turned back to Valeigh, chuckling as he bent to her level, "What's your name?"
"V-V-V-Valeigh." Her voice shook.
"Now you know me and where to find me, Valeigh."
He dropped a token in her palm and gave her a final look, "Find me."
He changed into his wolf form, bolting like lightning into the woods.
