(I'm Back) is the title of my new fanfic. I had this idea because there aren't many stories that mix High School DxD with Re:Zero.
In it, Issei will be in Subaru's place. He'll be very powerful, and that's what will make Satella pull him into that world. I want him to arrive there already exhausted.
This Issei is the same as in my other fic, but stronger due to age and experience.
I'm not a Re:Zero fanatic; I only watched up to the Sanctuary arc and then followed the story through other fanfics, as I don't like the original Subaru.
In summary, Issei will be summoned three months earlier than the main events so he can develop a father-daughter relationship with Felt and Meili. That's it!
POV Narrator: The Endless Void
In an endless void, two beings collide in a mortal battle. Both seem worn down, but it's clear they're relishing the combat. These individuals are Issei Hyoudou and Vali Lucifer, locked in a duel for two years. For normal beings, this would be an eternity, but for existences that live almost perpetually, two years are merely twenty minutes, like a friendly get-together at a corner bar.
POV Issei
Issei: Vali, you are truly worthy of being my rival! Hahahahaha! After decades, you're the only one who can keep up with my level of strength. It's no wonder we're fated rivals!
Vali: Hahahaha, I say the same, my rival! You're the only one who gives me an exhilarating fight and always satiates my desire to battle. Issei, I wonder what a world without you would be like... it would be peaceful, without objectives. I would have achieved everything I wanted, but I'd be stagnant, without a rival like you to stir me up.
Issei: I say the same for you, Vali. At this moment, I'm an existence that bypasses the balance of this world, and the only one who keeps up with me is you. After being without a strong opponent, my thirst for battle wouldn't diminish, and I'd be bored without someone to fight. The top is cold and lonely, and having someone like you keeps that loneliness away. But enough talk, Vali! How about our last strike, with everything we've got?
Vali: I agree. I'll use my strongest attack! You too, Issei, use your most powerful strike!
Issei: You got it!

POV Narrator: The Collapse and the Unexpected Arrival
The moment both used their most powerful attacks, and the blows collided, the very empty universe they were in was erased from existence.
The final result: Vali was injured and on the verge of death, defeated and almost gone. Issei, on the other hand, was standing, but not unscathed. He was in a situation as critical as Vali's, but conscious enough to open a portal to his residence.
Upon arrival, Asia, already used to such occurrences, healed them both. However, they were weakened and vulnerable. The instant Asia stepped away, a somber presence made itself known, opening a portal and pulling Issei through.
When Issei awoke, the only thing he heard were the words: "I love you!" repeated 31 times. Then, he could see a figure hidden behind a veil, continuously repeating "I love you." When he fully woke up, he found himself in a kind of "house."
POV Ddraig
Ddraig: After my partner finished his fight with Albion, he followed his routine of coming home and being healed by his wife, Asia—the only one present at the moment, caring for their daughter, Airi (Issei and Asia's daughter). Suddenly, I see a woman covered in a veil saying "I love you." Although her aura was "frightening," for me, who has seen worse auras, it's no big deal. I was trying to wake up my partner, who had been unconscious for four days, when, in a blink, we were in another world, in a poor area.
As I extended my senses, I realized this world is almost identical to ours, except there are no gods trying to interfere. It seems yokai and humans live together and intermingle. When I turn my attention back to where we are, I see a little girl who looks like a copy of Asia, but with my partner's red eyes (yes, here I gave Issei red eyes, like Felt's, to make it more sensible for him to care for her). I see her approaching, intending to rob my unconscious partner. Even so, I manage to manifest on his arm to communicate with this little girl.
Narrator
As she approached, our little one saw an unconscious man with a noble aura. Before she could even try to take anything, she felt a dominant and terrifying aura calling to her. After that, Ddraig explained everything to her and promised a genuinely good reward. Even suspicious, the little girl took care of Issei. While tending to him, Felt felt a strange connection, as if they were father and daughter.
As soon as Issei woke up, Felt wasn't there. Ddraig explained everything, saying he had been unconscious for a week. After Issei processed everything, he felt Felt approaching. (I guess I don't need to explain, do I? That Issei already knows Felt's name and vice-versa.)
POV Issei
Issei: I see Felt approaching, and it seems an old man, who looks like a giant, is with her. She explained the situation to Old Man Rom, and even with his suspicions, he came along.
POV Felt
Felt: Old Man Rom, will he give me the promised reward? After all, I'm a little wary.
Old Man Rom: He will, Felt. If he claims to be of the dragon race, he'll keep his word. These species are known for their strength and pride. If he made that promise, he will fulfill it.
Narrator: The Encounter and the Revelation
While they were talking, it didn't take even a second for both of them to feel a monstrous pressure. Turning around, they saw a young man, appearing to be eighteen years old and 1.91m tall, standing behind them. Just as they were about to kneel and beg for mercy, this "young man" crouched to Felt's height and thanked her. Before she could speak, the Dragon God handed her some "cheap" treasures, as they were the only things he had on him at the moment. Looking at Felt, he felt a sense of familiarity, as if they were father and daughter.
POV Rom
Rom: This guy is an anomaly, just like the Sword Saint! When he, along with Felt, was about to kneel and beg for mercy, without a reaction, the "young man" kneels and thanks Felt. The moment he handed Felt the jewels, I instantly sensed their value: one hundred sacred coins!
Narrator: The Final Surprise
After that, Rom and Felt, hearing him say they were "low-level junk jewels," the only ones he had with him, the only thing going through their minds was: "This guy doesn't know these are jewels nobles would drool over!" After recovering from the shock, Rom thought the "surprises" were over. He was about to ask if Issei was lying about being a dragon, but Felt asked the question instead. And Issei? He simply laughed! Both thought he had gone mad and and were about to leave when he told them to pay attention.
He spread his dragon wings and soared into the sky, transforming into his Great Red form, leaving the two surprised and utterly dumbfounded. The idea that it was a lie was immediately silenced.
