But Morning arrived.
The sun peeked through the torn clouds, painting the floor with soft light.
"Will I get to see him today too?"
That question echoed in my head —
until the distant school bell rang, shaking me out of my thoughts.
I opened my eyes.
The red clock on the wooden nightstand beside my bed was blinking.
I turned it off.
If only I could turn off my thoughts just as easily.
My bed sat across from the door leading out of the room.
Between the door and the bathroom stood the nightstand —
that old wooden piece with a small, flickering lamp still glowing faintly.
I sat up slowly. The room was quiet.
The bathroom door was slightly ajar,
just enough to glimpse the edge of the mirror inside.
I stood and walked toward it,
hoping to wash the thoughts of him out of my head.
But even under the stream of the shower,
his face refused to fade.
When I stepped out of the shower,
water still sliding down my skin,
I made my way quietly to the far end of the room —
where the mirror leaned against the cold northern wall.
The sunlight didn't quite reach there.
Only a dim reflection spilled in from the west,
where the large window stood half-open,
its curtains swaying gently.
I stood there, half-naked, in front of the foggy mirror.
My yellow hair clung to my face. My eyes looked dark and tired.
I didn't even know why…
But today, I didn't want to dress the same.
I pulled on a red hoodie, then my black jacket.
Ran a hand through my damp hair.
Maybe… today, something will change.
> The air was still cool, the street quiet, And so i was ready to leave that room the sound of my footsteps echoed through the silence of stari.
My room was on the second floor. When I came downstairs, the house felt too quiet. The kitchen smelled faintly of coffee and toast, but the chairs were empty.
Mom and Dad had already left for work.
I didn't feel like sitting alone at the table and eating. I needed something else—some space to breathe. Maybe, deep down, I already knew who I was hoping to run into
"But Last night's hunger was starting to show, and the growling of my stomach stopped me from heading out—so I decided to eat something first."
> I was lost in thought when my eyes fell on my black phone lying quietly on the brown dining table.
It matched perfectly with my dark cherry coffee mug.
I stared at it, torn between texting him or not—
But before I could decide, a message popped up, pulling me out of my hesitation.
It was from him. Just like old times, he wanted to pull me out of my grey little world and drag me outside.
The message was short, but it stirred something deep inside me.
"I'll wait for you in front of the school. Guess who came with me?"
Curiosity wrapped around me like a second skin, but at the same time... a strange feeling clung to my chest.
"Could it be...? No... there's no way it's her," I whispered to myself, trying to silence my thoughts.
And yet, my heart moved my feet toward the front door before I could argue with it.
Like always—I couldn't say no to him.
I heard the door close behind me. I was already far from my safe little room.
I decided to take the longer way to school through the small park near our house.
The chirping of birds and the rustling of trembling trees calmed the storm in my chest, just a little.
I wanted to close my eyes and forget everything for a moment.
"Hey! Kai!"
His voice pulled me back. I turned, and there he was—
That same lazy grin, white messy hair, gray T-shirt, black half-gloves matching with his jacket.
It was Souh.
My eyes were immediately drawn to the spiked earrings—the ones that girl had given him.
"Took you long enough," he smirked.
No one was with him. So I really had overthought it, huh?
I gave him a little frown, but I couldn't help smiling back at that same old grin.
I sighed and picked up my pace, walking ahead of him—maybe i wasn't ready to see him after three years
After crossing three streets, the school finally came into view—
The same wide white gates, the same endless noise.
Just as I was about to walk in, he grabbed my shoulder and whispered:
"Remember what I told you? Or did you miss it again?"
That's when I saw her—
A girl with thick yellow hair, heavy makeup, black lipstick, short skirt, and a black-and-purple crop top.
At the minute everything around me disappeared.
I couldn't hear anything but my own heartbeat.
The moment her eyes met mine—
Time stopped.
And just like that... the shadow of the past returned.
