Chapter 32 - Switch 'em down.

In Pablo's head the plan was clear and straightforward, get in the cars, then go to an outdoor shop, buy clothes and shovels to literally seem like tourists, then go and find the spot and dig up the money.

A perfect plan… well, it would be a perfect plan, but there was something that Pablo and even Joseph didn't calculate in.

His face now is all over the place, like literally in social media, in the news, everybody was talking about him, even more than Vicente's death itself… but it was more about the family that they talked about. How the Cassian ruled, how they killed, bribed, corrupted every single sector they reached for, and now the last one is out on the streets, the one that killed all of his own family.

The most important thing about it was that all of this wasn't just the news and the public that picked up on the story, but the criminal underworld too… the only good thing was that now everybody was kind of ignoring Joseph because he didn't make any moves. At least the director's narrative worked well, that they were the ones that killed Vincente. But once the news breaks or leaks that it was actually Joseph, then that's the time when all hell is going to break loose.

But now nothing is happening. The shift is going on, with some panic and waiting to see what exactly is going to happen in the Lisonda family.

An internal conflict? Is the underboss going to kill each other? Is it going to split into factions, into small families? What's going to happen with their control over the drug market?

There were so many questions that needed to be answered, and everybody expected that it's going to be answered with bullets and blood.

If that happens, it will be a clear indication of an all-out war for the drug market, to control it and everybody will happily participate in it.

Meanwhile, the Cassian family was ignoring all of this, riding through the city for an outdoor shop… what an era this is…

"Again, this convoy… I think it would be better with one car." Joseph said as they were now again going with six cars, literally a whole convoy.

"But then you will be an easy target." Pablo said, which was true, but that's how exactly Joseph's father was spotted all of the time.

He too went with a convoy and was an easy target to journalists who still believed in justice, and of course those one or two detectives and agents who still had balls to act. Every single movement of his was well documented, they knew very well where he went because those fucking convoys were like a presidential convoy.

Its goal was to protect, but to be true, it's just a big target and something that can be tracked easily without them even noticing… exactly right now when the technology is more advanced than 10 years or decades ago.

"Anyway, how do I use it correctly?" Joseph asked as he pulled out his gun. "I don't know shit about it." He said as he stared at Pablo, whose eyes almost came out because Joseph pointed it at him, and the safety was off.

"Uhmm, let me grab it from you." He said as he reached out for it. "This is for safety." He pointed. "Up is off, down is on. If it's off, you can shoot." He looked up at Joseph, then back down as he racked back the slide, and to his shock, it actually had a bullet in the chamber and it was pointed at him… well actually he was the one that put the gun in that drawer. "…So this is the magazine release, push it and the magazine drops." He said as he pulled it out. "So you just put in the magazine, push this and it slides back to its place, chambering a bullet, then put the safety off." He showed. "And ready to fire." He clicked back on the safety. "Now it has one in the chamber, so if something happens, just safety off and shoot. But be carefull with the slide, to not fuck up your hand, so hold it firm if you shoot."

Joseph did not look like someone who was excited about it. He looked more like someone who was serious about it, like he was focused on how to do it and how to kill, claim a life with that gun.

"I got it." He said it calmly as he grabbed it back from Pablo and put it back to his holster, but he noticed Pablo's pistol didn't look like his, and it had a big ass magazine. "What is that?"

"It's a 34-round magazine." Pablo said as he pulled out his pistol. "It's a different pistol and I have a switch on it… I can switch them down." He said with a smile on his face.

"Switch them down?" Joseph asked back, clearly confused by it.

"Yeah, basically it's a modification. It makes it fire auto… though the accuracy is not the best, that's why I have a backup." He pulled out his shirt and another gun was there. "And of course this." He said, and he pulled off a part of the door and there was a submachine gun.

"So that's where the money went, huh?" Joseph smirked because now thinking about it, all of these guns that he saw were kind of over the level.

Like snipers, assault rifles, but not the type like his father's men had. These were all with scopes, with lasers or whoever knows what was on it, not like the second-hand ones from the black market.

"It's for your protection." Pablo said again. "Do you have the bulletproof vest on? I think I left one in your bedroom."

"I don't need that." He said quickly as he looked at Pablo's eyes. "If I get shot, then it's my time to go."

He said it in a way with those eyes that Pablo kind of got stunned by it… that there wasn't any fear in Joseph's eyes, not a single fear about death… just like those guys back then he worked with, the DAG, the eyes of a soldier who has nothing to lose.

It just made him fire up even more… because those eyes were exactly what he wanted to see… it just confirmed more in him that they will truly be an unstoppable force with any second thought.

They will be the Cassian family that will suppress even his father…no… he has already surpassed him, he has already lost himself to the darkness and Pablo knew it… behind those eyes, behind his behavior, that nonchalant way, that he's not acting like a Don… behind all of it is a monster, waiting to be poked.
