The door creaked and groaned, shaking violently as Philip, now a zombie, tried to break through. Jack's eyes widened in horror as he realized the truth.
"Uncle has turned! We need to block the door, or he'll break through and infect us!"
Athena and Angel sprang into action, gathering furniture to barricade the door. They pushed a heavy dresser against the door, but despite their efforts, Philip's relentless pounding continued to shake the door.
"We need something stronger!" Jack exclaimed.
They added more furniture to the barricade, but Philip's zombie form continued to push against the door. The wood creaked and groaned, threatening to splinter at any moment.
Suddenly, the door stopped shaking, and an eerie silence fell over the room. Philip's zombie form burst through the upper part of the door, his eyes vacant, his skin gray and decaying.
Jack grabbed a pillow and pushed Philip back with all his might. The pillowcase ripped, and books spilled out, but Jack managed to hold Philip at bay.
The three of them fled upstairs, Philip's zombie form hot on their heels. They barely escaped into Jack's room, slamming the door shut behind them.
As they caught their breath, Jack's eyes welled up with tears. "I pity Uncle's situation... from a loving father to a zombie attacking his family."
The clock struck 5 pm, and their stomachs growled with hunger. But with Philip's zombie form blocking their access to food, they had to think fast.
"We can't go downstairs," Angel said, worry etched on her face. "He'll infect us."
Athena shook her head. "I don't have any ideas. Does anyone have a phone?"
Jack's eyes lit up. "We can call the police! They'll help us."
But as they tried to call, they realized that the phone service was down.
"We need to find another way," Athena said, determination etched on her face.
Angel suggested, "Why don't we lock him in another room? We can get to the phone and food then."
They quickly came up with a plan. Jack would distract Philip while Athena and Angel opened the door to the other room.
With a deep breath, Jack pushed open the door, holding a pillow with books inside his sleeves to avoid being bitten. Philip's zombie form charged towards him, but Jack stood his ground, pushing Philip back with the pillow.
Athena and Angel quickly opened the door to the other room, and Jack slowly backed away, trying not to make any sudden movements. Philip's zombie form followed, but Jack managed to slip into the other room, slamming the door shut behind him.
Athena and Angel let out a sigh of relief. "Yes, we did it! Good work, Jack."
But their relief was short-lived. The TV news flickered to life, showing the city in chaos, zombies roaming the streets, and the government's evacuation plans.
As they sat in stunned silence, Athena brought out a box of cereal, and they ate in silence, trying to process the apocalypse unfolding around them.
Jack's thoughts swirled with despair. "Why does it have to be like this? The Abuja I wanted to enjoy has turned into a hell..."
He slammed his fist against the wall, frustration and fear boiling over.
