Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Loki Familia

Orario is, without a doubt, the true center of this world.

Half a month had passed since Shirou arrived in this world. During this half month, he recuperated from his injuries while gathering information about the characteristics of this world.

Finally, upon learning about the existence of the "Falna" from a hunter, he instantly realized which world this was.

It was the world of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? also known as DanMachi.

This is a world with demi-humans, elves, and even gods.

Here, gods descend to the lower world, seal their divine power, establish Familias, and live together with mortals.

Under the inspiration of the Falna, the mortals then drove the monsters back into the Dungeon, established Orario, and continuously explored the Dungeon to become legendary heroes.

This is a world where heroes are born in abundance.

At the same time, this world perfectly fit Shirou's requirements. Although the previous Shirou had defeated seven opponents in a row, ending the Holy Grail War overnight, that was with the aid of Class Cards. Even his later one-on-one fight with the King of Heroes was due to Miyu's magical energy supply.

Currently, Shirou, without any enhancements, was merely an ordinary person who had prematurely learned his Magic Circuits.

In the story of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, when he later faced Angelica (the Saber-class Gilgamesh) again, he couldn't even activate Unlimited Blade Works because he was just a mere mortal.

However, if he obtained the Falna, he would certainly gain the power to contend with, and even surpass, them.

Therefore, he had been looking forward to Orario for a long time, and now he had finally arrived.

Passing through the inspection at Orario's main gate, Shirou smoothly walked into the city. The first thing that caught his eye was not the wide streets or the bustling shops around him, but rather the towering white giant tower in the distance that pierced the sky.

Such a building, in this era, could perhaps only be built by gods.

After carefully appreciating the magnificent architecture for a moment, Shirou's gaze was drawn to the pedestrians around him.

Adventurers in various kinds of equipment were constantly appearing: some in full plate armor, some carrying bows and arrows, some wielding long spears, and some with longswords at their waists.

Moreover, not only humans were present; dwarves, beast-people, Pallums, and even elves could be seen.

This was a sight Shirou had never witnessed in either of his two lives—a world that only existed in fantasy.

Although he might get used to it later, for now, simply appreciating the surrounding scenery was enough to excite Shirou.

After a moment of appreciation, Shirou finally regained his composure and began searching for his target.

After a brief inquiry, Shirou walked towards a corner of Orario. There stood one of Orario's two largest Familias, the Loki Familia.

For Shirou, who possessed "future" knowledge, there were only a few Familias he wanted to join. After various eliminations, only the Hestia Familia and the Loki Familia remained as choices.

However, regarding the Hestia Familia, he didn't even know if it had been established yet, or if the goddess Hestia had even descended to the mortal world.

Specific information needed to be gathered, but Shirou no longer had the time to gather it.

He was currently facing a very difficult problem: he was out of money.

After all, before arriving, he had just gone through a deathmatch and had nothing on him except for that inexplicable pocket watch.

Even after coming to this world, he had been recuperating while working part-time to save enough for the fare to Orario.

Otherwise, he'd still be working like Kazuma.

So, in the end, he had only one choice left: the Loki Familia.

As for large Familias not accepting ordinary people, "I, Emiya the Great Hero, have never been inferior to anyone in my life."

Passing through the bustling streets, he arrived at the Loki Familia's headquarters. Then, guided by the guards at the entrance, Shirou went to the Loki Familia's recruitment area.

"There are so many people here!"

Looking at the two or three dozen people ahead of him in line, Shirou couldn't help but marvel at the Loki Familia's influence.

Such a scene must be like this every day.

Attracted by the commotion behind him, a brawny Boaz youth who was at the end of the line turned his head, looked at Shirou's physique, and teased, "Kid, with your build, the Loki Familia won't recruit you."

"I'm just here to watch the fun," Shirou replied with a smile, looking at the muscular giant who was two heads taller than him.

"I'm a newcomer to Orario. I heard that the Loki Familia and the Freya Familia are particularly strong, so I came to check them out. After I'm eliminated here, I'll go see the Freya Familia."

Just kidding!

Shirou had no intention of getting into a conflict with this guy. All he wanted now was to quickly join the Loki Familia so he could finally eat a good meal.

His last rations had been eaten yesterday noon; he was very hungry now.

"Is that so? Indeed, it's good for newcomers to visit the big Familias and broaden your horizons."

Saying this, he patted Shirou on the shoulder.

Damn it (a plant), can't you be a little gentler?!

Although his shoulder was aching, Shirou still smiled and chatted with the other person about various situations in Orario.

Soon, the registration line reached the Boaz youth. After a detailed inquiry by two Loki Familia examiners, the youth's request was politely rejected.

"Sorry, you are not the talent we need."

The already anxious Boaz youth's expression visibly fell. He thought he had a lot of hope, but he didn't even pass the first stage.

According to the procedure, these two examiners first selected suitable candidates to report to Loki, and then Loki herself would make the final selection.

After all, most Familias highly valued their internal atmosphere, and the head god treated their Familia members like their own children, so ultimately, the decision-maker was the head god.

"I understand!"

The Boaz youth wisely stepped aside, yielding his position. But he didn't leave; he was waiting for Shirou's test.

After their earlier conversation, he found the young man behind him quite interesting. Although there was no agreement, he decided to have the other person treat him to a drink later.

To that end, he even said to Shirou against his better judgment, "Go for it, kid!"

"Thank you, I'll definitely do my best."

Responding to the Boaz youth with a smile, Shirou, who now understood the process, walked up to the two examiners and pre-emptively and seriously stated, "I have magic!"

"Um, your name is...? What, you have magic?"

Hearing Shirou's statement, the two examiners immediately stood up in surprise.

"Are you serious?"

"Of course!"

Shirou said calmly, "I don't think anyone in Orario would dare to deceive the Loki Familia!"

The examiners' eyes lit up. One of them immediately led Shirou towards the Twilight Manor.

"Let's go, I'll take you to see Loki-sama!"

Watching Shirou being led by the examiner into the Loki Familia headquarters, the Boaz youth muttered to himself with a dumbfounded expression, "Liar, they're all liars! Weren't you just here to watch the fun? How did you just walk right in?!"

Unfortunately, his questions had no one to answer them.

...

In the reception room of Twilight Manor, a goddess with neatly tied-back red hair and a very curvaceous figure sat excitedly opposite Shirou, her eyes narrowed.

"You said you have magic, and you haven't joined any Familia yet, have you?"

Magic is an extremely rare ability in this world. Apart from the Elves, it is extremely difficult for other races to acquire magic.

Even more so for innate magic like Shirou's.

In a sense, magic in this world is equivalent to a Heroic Spirit's Noble Phantasm in the Nasuverse—a decisive force that can determine the outcome of a battle.

"Yes, I haven't joined any Familia yet."

Shirou extended his hands. As magic circulated, Shirou's signature weapons, Kanshou and Bakuya, appeared in his hands.

"It really is innate magic! What kind of magic is this?"

"Projection Magic!"

"Projection Magic?" Loki murmured. Although she had never heard of such magic, it didn't affect her decision: "I've decided, from now on, you'll be one of our Familia's children."

In this world, magic is divided into innate magic and acquired magic activated by the Falna.

Innate magic involves racial bloodline and personal aptitude and has fixed attributes, requiring magical races to learn through their own potential and training.

But Shirou is human! It is impossible for humans to learn innate magic.

This indicates that Shirou possesses an aptitude comparable to magical races like elves, making him an even rarer existence than an elf.

With such a person actively seeking to join, how could Loki not be excited?!
