Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 – Shadows, Systems, and Staff Meeting

🪑 Scene 1 – The Meeting in the Headmaster's Office

The sun had dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the stone towers of Hogwarts. Inside the candlelit office of Albus Dumbledore, tension curled like smoke through the air.

The fireplace burned low, casting warm amber on the portraits that lined the walls—former headmasters and headmistresses whispering among themselves. On the center table lay a folded letter sealed with a dark green wax: Cassian Blake's owl-delivered demand.

Professor McGonagall sat upright in her chair, her mouth pursed in disapproval.

Snape leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, black eyes unreadable.

Dumbledore, meanwhile, stirred a cup of tea thoughtfully, blue eyes not as twinkling as usual.

"A house reassignment? Really now," McGonagall said, barely restraining herself. "That man has no understanding of what Gryffindor means—nor what his son may become."

Dumbledore gave a small sigh.

"Cassian Blake was always obsessed with bloodlines. Power. Control. But his son…"

He paused, tilting his head.

"His son has chosen a different path. A path that Cassian will not understand. Or perhaps… fears."

Snape's voice cut through like a blade.

"The boy is talented. Unnaturally so. His transfiguration work was far beyond first-year level. He has potential… but I've seen this before. Controlled power often hides something."

McGonagall frowned.

"He's not arrogant. He's calm. Intelligent. He helps others without showboating. That's not Slytherin ambition, Severus."

Snape didn't reply. But his eyes narrowed.

Dumbledore set down his cup.

"Watch him, Severus. Discreetly. Observe, but do not interfere. If he continues to develop as he has… then we must be ready. The son of Cassian Blake might prove to be his antithesis. Or something more complex."

Then, more softly:

"A new thread in the tapestry."

💠 Scene 2 – Inside the System

Back in the dormitory, Elias sat cross-legged on his bed, curtains drawn, wand in hand, eyes closed.

"System," he thought.

"Display points and recommended skills."

A soft shimmer filled his vision.

Elias breathed in deeply. Something within him shifted. His grip on the ambient magic around him—tiny, imperceptible currents—became slightly more tangible.

🔮 Scene 3 – The Quiet Experiment

He placed a feather from the common room couch on the table. Extending a hand, he whispered softly:

"Wingardium Leviosa…"

Nothing.

Again. This time without the wand.

"Wingardium Leviosa…"

The feather trembled. Just a flicker. But it moved.

He grinned slightly. Small victories. That's how he'd win.

🧠 Scene 4 – Reflections and Intentions

Later that night, as the Gryffindor Tower lay silent and the other boys snored around him, Elias stared at the canopy above his bed.

"They'll be watching me. Dumbledore. Snape. Maybe others."

"But I won't hide. I'll grow—quietly. Strategically."

And if his father thought sending letters could bend his will, he was more delusional than Elias remembered.

🕯️ Final Scene – Dumbledore Alone

Back in his office, Dumbledore stood by the window, watching the stars.

"Strange, isn't it," he murmured to Fawkes. "A Blake in Gryffindor. And yet, he reminds me… of someone else entirely."

The phoenix let out a soft, approving trill.

"Let's see if Elias chooses to fly. Or burn."
