Chapter 3 - Ch. 3 - A creature or a spirit?

"Glargh! Glurrggh~" The monster with its large mouth open where it was filled with sharp spike-like teeth and a sticky substance around its tongue, slowly approached me.

'No one is seeing this?' As I have seen far more worse than this, I didn't feel any slight panic or fear.

Instead, I was confused.

Isn't this supposed to be a normal world with normal humans? How come weird monsters like this appear all of the sudden?

Did my arrival trigger it somehow? After all, I could feel the mana inside me and in my surroundings, which means magic exists in this world.

Then there's also the fact that even though the monster is out of the dark and exposed in the public, everyone was still acting normally, as if the grotesque monster was invisible.

'Fascinating.' I muttered to myself while staring at the monster with interest.

There are quite a few things I noticed. First of all, the monster is beyond logic, the appearance alone gave it away. Second, there's a weird aura or energy emanating from the monster. I can't put quite a finger on it but I could feel its similarity to Dark Magic that the Demons and Evil Spirits back in the world of Fantazio uses.

Last but not the least, the monster is strong. The sticky substance from its mouth fell and landed on the pavement, which soon melted in no time.

Unfortunately, my mana is limited and I can't cast a purifying spell on it.

I guess I'll have to rely on my physical skills for now.

'I can't do it here though.' I muttered to myself and decided to lead the creature back in the alley.

As I expected, I was the creature's target as it followed me back to the dark alley instead of attacking the nearby humans.

The two unconscious bodies of the thugs were still there, so I went even deeper.

Looking over my shoulder, I saw the creature ignore the thugs and continue following me.

'Fascinating.' I muttered.

Once we're deep enough, I turned around to finally face the grotesque creature.

Now how do I deal with this guy?

I can't exactly fight it physically as I'm not sure if my average strength could deal any damage. Maybe if I have my sword, I could just slice it to pieces but unfortunately, I don't.

A few seconds passed and I raised my eyebrows.

'Why is it not moving? I've been waiting for it to attack first.' Scanning my eyes over the creature, I noticed it shivering slightly.

Hold on.

Is it scared of me?

Then suddenly, I recalled the title in my status.

[Titles:

- Evil Slayer - With this title, all sorts of evil will naturally fear you, as if you're the epitome of their nightmare. Your attacks are ten times more effective against them and their attacks are ten times less effective against you.]

With this title equipped, all sorts of evil will naturally fear me.

Which confirms that this creature is evil and afraid of me.

"How convenient."

It seems like my attacks are also ten times more effective against this guy.

A quick look around me and I managed to grab a weapon in a form of a broken broom, the sharp tip should be enough to pierce through this monster.

Thankfully, I can already think of thousands of different ways to penetrate this guy without needing much strength thanks to my repertoire of Weapon Mastery skills.

So I chose the most convenient one.

Its small eyes.

For one to be accurate in terms of throwing, you don't need the strength for it. Just pure skill is enough.

That's what just happened when I threw the broken broom like a javelin, it penetrated the monster's eyes and with my title, it easily pierced through.

The monster let out a painful shriek as a mix of green and blue blood came out from its eyes, splurting on the walls and floor.

"KIEEEKKHH!" The monster thrashed around the dark alleyway, destroying several trash cans and cracking the sturdy walls in the process.

Suddenly, the monster jumped and its height was unexpected. It was higher than I normal.

One moment, I was standing eye to eye level with the monster and the next thing, I blinked and this guy was already ten feet above me, using its long fingers to climb through the small gaps between the walls.

"Oh no, you don't!" Unleashing the magic inside me, I casted the most basic form of magic back in my previous world.

Mana Arrow.

All mages must start with this spell as it is the easiest one to learn and also convenient.

Not to mention, it consumes very little of mana unlike most magic spells that requires long time to cast and a large amount of mana.

A bluish arrow was formed in front of me, spinning considerably fast.

I closed my other eye and aimed properly at the air, constantly moving my arm around as the monster leaped around the tight alleyway.

Finally, I predicted its next move and hit the shot.

The blue arrow rush through the air, making a sharp piercing sound.

Fwooosh!

The monster, too focused on escaping, failed to see the blue arrow chasing him.

Before he knew it, the arrow penetrated him from his behind.

"AHOOOoooo!~" The monster leaked out a painful howl, quickly using his arms to try to mitigate the pain from his behind.

Too bad for him, Mana Arrow has already penetrated too deeply and already impossible to be pulled out.

"Grrrggh!" The monster growled, not caring about the pain as it used its sharp nails to dig through his flesh, adamant on taking the Mana Arrow out.

However, I won't obviously stand by and let him, two more Mana Arrows found its target towards the monster, this time, the Mana Arrows hit its head.

Puchii!

Puchii!

Without further movement, the monster fell from the wall it's grabbing from.

Bam!

After approaching it cautiously and making sure it's finally dead, I was about to sigh in relief when the corpse suddenly turned into motes of light, disintegrating into tiny pieces until it's no more.

I stood around it cautiously, watching out for any sudden moves but after a minute of getting nothing, I started to calm down slightly.

"That was weird. So they turn into nothingness if they die? I wonder what kind of creature it is?" While pondering to myself, I suddenly heard a clicking sound not far from me.

"Huh?" Turning my head around, I finally noticed that I'm not actually alone.

'Oh right, I need high Mind stats to unlock my passive ability Sharp Senses.' I almost facepalmed myself after realization.

My eyes turned over the newcomer and saw it was a girl, her striking and long silver hair was a contrast to what Japanese girls usually look like.

Along with her almond-shaped eyes and milky-white complexion.

'She doesn't look Japanese.' I came to a conclusion after observing her from a distance.

At the same time, I saw her holding a phone with its camera pointed at me.

'Did she record everything? This is bad.' My face turned slightly dark and I started marching towards her.

As if on cue, the girl backed away, with each of my step forward matching her stepping backward.

Until finally, we both dashed in a full-blown speed.

If others were to see us, they would think of me as a creep chasing little girls but I don't care, we're deep in an alley and as long as we stay here, no one would judge me.

"Hold it right there!"

"No! Get away from me, you pervert!" The silver haired girl yelled back in response, causing me to momentarily stop in my tracks.

'P-Pervert?! Me!?' I couldn't help but clutch my chest in pain, my first encounter with such a beautiful woman and I was branded as a pervert!

Fortunately for the girl, she took this chance to disappear from the alley, successfully escaping from me.

I no longer felt the strength to chase after.

'She….didn't managed to record everything, right? I'll just track her easily with magic once my magic stats go up.' After reassuring, I composed myself and quietly left the alley.

***

Thankfully, the original Kenshin wasn't dumb enough to sell his phone.

So now I'm calling the boy's family or in this case, my family.

Ring Ring!

Kachak!

"Kenshin!? Is this Kenshin? My boy where have you been!" An elderly woman's voice spoke from behind the call, her tone mixed with worry and relief.

"Hey…mom. Uh….I'm heading home now." How come slicing a demon's head is better than experiencing this?

My voice is slightly quivering from nervousness and I don't know if it's my problem or there's still a lingering feeling that came from the original Kenshin, hence why talking to her like this makes me nervous.

"Just…Just go back home, Ken. Everyone misses you, even your sister." With a sigh of relief from the other side, I spoke again.

"Okay I promise, I…. I love you."

[Mind +1]

'Gee, thanks.'

"Oh dear. Mommy loves you too!~"

And boom, just like that, I'm now on my way to fix this fool's biggest mistake.

[Mind: 15]

Seriously? Just from that, you're giving me an extra point in Mind stat? Not that I'm ungrateful or something.

Okay, now how do I get back home? I'm a few cities away from my home and taking the station should be the ideal move.

Thankfully, those two thugs from earlier were packing, so I have enough money for the train station.

While walking towards the nearest station, my mind couldn't help but wander about the woman from earlier.

She looks like someone of my age, I mean, my current physical body's age.

Now that I mention it. I still have to go to school, right? The original dropped out and didn't even finish high school.

'Well damn. I could just send my clone for it but with my current state, it's impossible. Clone magic is literally one of my spells that consumes the most mana.'

While contemplating, I finally arrived at the train station and after buying a ticket, I finally managed to take a seat at a train.

Sigh~

I let myself lean back and melt under the comfort of the seat.

As the train started moving, it took me a few seconds to notice that my seat mate is shivering.

'Hmm? Is it cold in the train?' Looking on my right, I was met with a familiar silver colored hair.

"Eh?" It was the girl from earlier. Right now, she looks like she's been holding her breath for several minutes.

"You….You're the girl from earlier…" I pointed at her slowly.

"Y-You!" Fear and embarrassment quickly filled her face as she tried to stand up.

However, I didn't let her and pulled her back to her seat.

"Hold it, lady. Phone please." The silver girl could only grumble slightly and handed me her phone.

As I opened it up, the first thing I noticed was her wallpaper, a photo of her and a tall brown haired lady, who was smiling brightly, contrast to her monotone expression.

"Your sister?"

I squinted my eyes at the wallpaper. She looked quite familiar. As if I've seen her somewhere.

"You…can you tell me your name?" I asked her and she seemed surprised about it.

"Почему ты спрашиваешь мое имя, какой идиот?

^Why are you asking my name, what an idiot.^" She muttered under her breath.

What surprised me however, was that she spoke in Russian and I could totally understand the words she just said.

'Is it my because of my All-Speak passive ability? Neat, never thought it'd be useful in this kind of situation.' While praising the skill that has been gathering dust in my status, I could already determine where I've seen this girl from.

'She's that heroine in an anime where she speaks her thoughts out in Russian language. I kind of forgot the name already.'

'Was it Alya Speaks In Russian or Something?'

[What do you guys think about the fanfic so far? Is it up to your interest? Don't worry, I plan to be unique and try not to be as cliche as most anime-versed fanfics in Webnovel. Though some cliches are inevitable and are almost part of romance anime culture.]
