Fang Ming stood frozen, his eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings. The air was thick with an unsettling silence, broken only by the sound of his own shallow breaths. The place was strange unfamiliar stars above, no recognizable landmarks, and an oppressive sense of unease hanging in the air.
As the man in blue Taoist robes spoke, Fang Ming's heart trembled. His eyes widened in disbelief, fear beginning to creep into his bones.
Thrown into this place without any warning… and now being told to prepare for death?
"Is this a joke?" he thought, panic rising. "How could a human survive like this…?"
Before the dread could fully consume him, a girl in green Taoist robes suddenly stepped forward and knocked the man in blue on the head.
"Okay, okay! Wang Ping, stop scaring the newcomer," she scolded.
The man—Wang Ping—rubbed his head where she'd struck him, but instead of lashing out, he chuckled. With a playful smile, he patted his hair and said, "Hehehhhhhhhhhhh, Senior Sister, you won't even let me tease the newcomer?"
The girl in green ignored his words, turning her sharp gaze toward Fang Ming. Then her expression softened, and she smiled gently.
"Don't mind him, newcomer. He just likes teasing the fresh ones," she said. "By the way, what's your name?"
Fang Ming remained silent for a moment, thoughts racing. His gaze flickered between the two. "The man in blue took a slap without a word," he mused. "That means this girl holds a high position… I can't afford to offend her."
Gathering himself, he replied, "I'm Fang Ming."
He subtly studied her face, hoping to glean something from her expression. But the girl merely smiled, unfazed by his probing eyes.
"Ohh, I'm Su Yue," she said casually. "I'm sure you have a lot of questions—why you're here, who brought you. But for now, I suggest you open your group chat. Just think it in your mind."
Fang Ming did as instructed. Immediately, a soft blue screen appeared before his eyes:
[Welcome to the Myriad Realms Group Chat, newcomer.]
Notification: 2
Chat Box
His brows furrowed. Confusion deepened. A group chat? What kind of place was this?
He was about to tap on the notification when Su Yue's voice rang out again.
"Alright, let me explain. From now on, you'll be sent into different worlds based on your current strength. Your mission is to hunt down systems and their users. If you fail to complete your mission in time… the punishment could range from death to something as minor as a small cut. It depends on your luck and the mission's difficulty."
Fang Ming's face paled instantly. His heart sank. He wanted to cry.
He had been a web novel addict back on Earth. He knew exactly how terrifying systems and their users could be—cheats, hacks, plot armor… all of it. And now, he was expected to hunt them?Aren't they the so-called chosen ones.
Wang Ping, seeing his expression, burst out laughing.
"Now you get it, junior? That's why I said—prepare to die!"
Su Yue glared at Wang Ping again. "Ignore him. He's scaring you too much," she said firmly. "The group chat isn't that cruel. It won't just throw you to your death without giving you anything in return. You'll receive a special tool that can block a system's rules and security measures. Your real target is the user. To help with that, you'll be granted unique divine skills and your own cultivation system. Mine, for example, is the Inheritance of an Immortal Saint."
She gestured toward herself with a proud smile. "You can open your notifications to check yours."
Fang Ming didn't waste any time. He turned back to the screen and tapped the notification:
1.) You will be sent to the Jiang Dynasty World for thirty years in ten minutes.
Objective: Hunt and kill Jiang Changfeng.
Punishment: Death.
2.) You have received the Inheritance of Primordial Consciousness.
Do you want to open it?
Ignoring the mission for now, Fang Ming quickly clicked OK.
Another screen appeared before him:
[Congratulations! You have received the Inheritance of Primordial Consciousness.]
You have awakened your initial talent: Unparalleled Comprehension.
Fang Ming stared at the words, a mix of awe and dread flooding his heart. The world had changed… and now, so had he.
