Chapter 42 - The Black Rose Flower

The Great Oni

Volume (1) Brnoni Chapter (42)

The current time was around 11 o'clock at night, and in the quiet room the clock's chime resounded broadly and clearly.

After about 15 minutes of silence, Artha began to speak.

"Alright, Li Fan, why are you attacking this secret domain?"

Li Fan laughed and replied, "It's that the flower called the Black Storm Rose is extraordinarily fascinating, and since it exists here, I came to obtain it."

"Mm…" Artha fell silent for a moment.

"Very well… no matter; I can provide you with Black Storm Rose medicine equivalent to 10,000 flowers, but you must do something for me in return," Artha said in a gentle, coaxing tone.

Li Fan widened his eyes and asked, "Go on, speak."

"Two years ago, we discovered the ancestral domain of a certain Martial Deity King. That domain lay exactly at the border between Spirit Peak and our world."

"Because of that, some factions from Spirit Peak attacked us—they refused to share with us."

"After fighting for about one year, they realized they could not completely defeat us in a short time, and so they reached an agreement."

"That agreement was this: after another month, the grand Spirit Peak will dispatch their new generation, while on our side we send our new generation into that ancestral domain to contend for jewels."

"They have permitted entry only to those at or below the Martial Spirit level. So if you alone enter that domain, victory will undoubtedly be ours," Artha explained and added with a sly smile.

"Ah, alright then—if we're in full agreement, that is even easier for me than plucking a dove's tongue, haha," Li Fan responded with a wry smile.

The two of them burst into a hearty, in-sync laugh.

"Even if you wish, you could wipe out every one of their new-generation members," Li Fan said softly.

"Very well—it matters not. And if you succeed, I'll give you another 10,000 flowers," Artha replied immediately, slapping his hand in assent.

"No problem—but for now, you must first be given the medicine equivalent to 1,000 flowers," Li Fan demanded.

"Alright, it's settled. Now, just wait a moment," agreed Artha, and he left the room.

About three minutes later, he returned carrying a large water jug roughly the size of a 20‑liter container.

The Black Storm Rose liquid was dark in color, extremely viscous, and almost gel-like.

Because Li Fan's Demon Energy Master senses could clearly detect an intense power within that liquid, he felt very satisfied.

Upon closer inspection—after the essence derived from 1,000 Black Storm Rose petals was chemically analyzed—it was found that the liquid contained physical strength–enhancing substances equivalent to that possessed by two Martial Emperors.

However, the liquid did not cohere perfectly; it carried an extremely potent adverse effect.

If one were to consume the entire 20 liters, one's lifespan would be reduced by 1,000 years.

A being at the Martial Empire level has a lifespan of only about 10,000 years.

Thus, even though using it might render one's body twice as robust by expending roughly 100 years of one's cultivation time, it would also cost an additional 100 years of training time.

Due to this loss of 100 years' cultivation time—and similar potential setbacks that might prevent one from reaching the next stage—such effects are possible.

However, Li Fan is able to absorb only the beneficial effects with his Demon Energy Master talent while avoiding the adverse ones.

Therefore, for him, this matter is of no concern.

Indeed, his overall lifespan stretches to billions of years.

Artha then placed the large water jug on the table and said, "There is an adverse effect—it is affecting your lifespan."

"Alright, then; see you later," and with the matter resolved, Li Fan fell silent.

"Alright, in about twenty days I'll personally call you," Artha said, nodding and granting Li Fan permission to leave.

"Hey, do you have something like a storage ring with that?" Li Fan asked while eyeing the large water jug.

"Alright," came the reply.

Artha produced an entire set of rings and sent them toward Li Fan.

When Li Fan looked inside one of the rings, he saw that its interior measured only about 10 centimeters. He shot Artha a disdainful look.

Unperturbed by that look, Artha remained completely calm.

Then Li Fan narrowed his eyes and, with ease, manipulated the ring—sliding the water jug into it—so that it disappeared at once.

After Li Fan departed, Artha stayed silent for a moment before retrieving a small key from his temple area and using it to open a tiny photograph, which he examined intently.

Li Fan's speed was said to be one hundred times faster than sound. At that rate, he could cover roughly 34 kilometers in one second. Consequently, although a trip might normally take nine hours, his return journey lasted only one minute—and Li Fan was home in that time.

"Waaah."

Li Fan sighed, entered his room, and turned on his phone. Upon viewing over one hundred messages from Yue Ar, his eyes began to flick. The messages began with:

  "Hi, Cutie."

  "Hello."

  "Eh, Are you there?"

  "Bae?"

These were the initial messages, followed by another sent 20 minutes ago that read: "Cutie, are you asleep?"

"Hi, Big sis," Li Fan replied by sending a message.

On the other end, Yue Ar—seated with a solemn, furrowed expression as he absorbed his spiritual energy—became delighted upon noticing that a message had arrived.

"Where have you been?" She said with anger.

"Hehe, While I'm going outside, my phone dead. That's why" Li Fan Replied.

"Hum, I was worried about you!" Yue Ar said.

"Are you mad? Don't you love me anymore?

After taking with her for an hour, Li fan take out his 20L Water bottle.
