Chapter 84 - An Alpha's Detour, A Brother's Plea

The scent of her lingered on my skin, in my clothes, and most annoyingly, in my mind. Even now, sitting in my office with urgent matters demanding my attention, all I could focus on was Seraphina's taste, her delicate sighs, the way her body had melted against mine last night.

I shuffled papers on my desk, staring at campaign data without really seeing it. My wolf paced restlessly beneath my skin, agitated at being separated from her, even though she was merely upstairs in her suite.

"...so the polls are showing a three-point increase after your speech at the Silver Lake territory," Ronan was saying, his voice finally breaking through my distraction. "Kaelen? Are you even listening?"

I glanced up to find my brother watching me with a bemused expression.

"Of course," I lied smoothly. "Three points. Good."

Ronan snorted. "I also said the sky turned purple and the humans are planning to invade with spoons, but you wouldn't know that because you haven't heard a damn word I've said."
