Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Although they had often gone hungry before, it was still better than starving to death like many others.

Kei was such a good person. Why didn't the heavens care? Then again, if the heavens really cared, the end of the world wouldn't have come at all.

Including Kei, five members of their group had started to show signs of fever. Some of them were still a little conscious, but a few had already passed out. They couldn't do much now. Whether these people survived or not depended on their own luck.

After Kei gave some instructions to the team with great effort, his head became heavier. Isa stayed close, trying to encourage him. At first, Kei still responded slightly, but slowly, he completely passed out.

"Captain, wake up. Please don't scare me," Isa cried.

When she saw Kei completely lose consciousness, she couldn't hold back her tears. As the only girl in the team, she had always been looked after by the captain. Seeing him like this broke her heart.

Because several people were sick, the whole team felt depressed. Each sick person had someone beside them. Even though they all had a bad feeling, none of them wanted to give up hope yet.

"Isa, take a rest. You've been watching over the captain all night. If you don't sleep, and he still doesn't wake up, you might collapse first," Gelmer said.

"No. I want to stay with him. His forehead isn't that hot anymore. And he didn't show signs of turning into a zombie last night. Maybe we were wrong. Maybe he's just sick. Yes, I need to find some medicine for him. How can someone recover without taking medicine? I was too nervous before and forgot. I hope I didn't delay his treatment," Isa said.

"Isa, calm down. I understand you're worried, but it's raining heavily outside. If you go out and something happens to you, how do we explain that to the captain when he wakes up? Also, medicine is rare inside the base. Do you even know where to find it? Because of the rain, no one's trading outside right now. Going out won't help," Gelmer said.

"Then what should we do? Just watch the captain suffer? Let me at least do something for him. I'll feel better," Isa said.

"Don't think like that. Go get some sleep. You've stayed up all night and look very tired. I'll go try to ask around about the medicine. He's my captain too. None of us want him to get worse," Gelmer said.

"But if I leave, who will take care of him?" Isa asked, unsure.

"Did you forget? We're all here. You've stayed with him all night. Now it's our turn. Get some rest and come back with more energy. If you keep going like this, we won't let you stay here," another teammate said.

Hearing that, Isa finally agreed. She knew they were right. The captain hadn't recovered yet. She couldn't fall before he got better.

Tracy stayed in the dimensional shop for a while and noticed that the rain outside showed no signs of stopping. She had no choice but to return to the real world.

It looked like the rain would continue for several days. The shop probably wouldn't get any customers. The rain felt strange, even dangerous. No one would want to go out in that kind of weather.

Even though Tracy hadn't studied the rain carefully, her guess was right. The rain was not normal. It carried a lot of viruses. So, nobody was out walking in it.

After returning to the real world, Tracy opened the fridge and saw there wasn't much food left. She decided to go to the market.

Outside, the officers and Cris who were protecting her became more alert when they saw her leave. They carefully watched her surroundings, ready to react to any danger.

Ever since Tracy connected with the dimensional shop, she hadn't gotten any superpowers or strength, but her senses had become sharper.

As soon as she stepped outside, she felt like someone was watching her. She looked around but saw no one. Maybe she was just imagining it.

Cris noticed her small reaction. He was surprised that Tracy had such strong awareness. If she had trained in martial arts from a young age, she might have become very skilled.

But in this modern time, people who trained in martial arts were rare. Unless someone came from a family with martial arts background, it was almost impossible to learn real skills. Many talented people had missed their chance this way.

Even so, that might not be a bad thing. Now was a peaceful time ruled by law. There wasn't that much danger. Besides, there were people like him with strong abilities protecting others.

The normal officers were not as skilled as Cris, so it made sense that Tracy noticed something strange.

But because Tracy had never received training, even if she felt someone watching, she didn't think much about it. She was just an ordinary person. Even with the dimensional shop's help, she had never told anyone. She believed no one should know or target her.

At the market, there were many people walking around. More people came close to Tracy. The police became even more alert.

They had received orders saying that Tracy might have important information that some criminals wanted. These people might come looking for her. Their job was to protect her and catch the criminals.

This was a serious mission. They couldn't allow any mistakes.

Since Tracy woke up late, she had only cooked something quick in the morning. At night, she planned to make something delicious for herself.

But it had already been a whole day. Why hasn't Mr. Yan contacted her yet? This speed was really too slow. Or maybe he didn't actually care about the deal as much as she thought.

Right now, the Interdimensional Shop probably wouldn't have any customers for the next few days. It needed to wait until the rain stopped over there before anyone would come.

So this was the best time to prepare her small shop in the real world. But she didn't have any money to do it.

She decided to wait a little longer. If Mr. Yan still didn't contact her today, then tomorrow she would go and ask other jewelry companies.

It was already too late today. Otherwise, Tracy would have gone to visit other companies for a consultation. Even though she had made an agreement with Mr. Yan, that didn't mean she was only going to work with his company.

If another company offered something better, Tracy would not say no.

Actually, Cris and the others didn't know that when Tracy went out to buy groceries, Huro was watching her from not far away.

His eyes were hidden well, and he stayed at a distance, so none of them noticed that the person they were looking for was nearby the whole time.

Huro had gone through strict spy training. He was one of the best spies. If he could be discovered easily, then all his training would be useless.

Even though a strong team captain from the Special Ability Team was there, it didn't matter.

In terms of power, Huro couldn't beat Cris. But when it came to tracking and hiding, Huro was an expert.

But right now, Huro was in a bad mood.

Earlier, when he wanted to go to Tracy's house, he saw that there were police officers watching the place. So he quickly left and didn't go in.

He didn't expect that even when Tracy went out, so many police would be secretly following her.

He didn't even have a chance to get close. If he tried, they would definitely get suspicious.

After all, he didn't even know Tracy. A stranger trying to approach someone who was under heavy police protection would be noticed right away.

Unless the police were useless. But clearly, they were very capable.

Especially when he saw someone nearby who made him feel nervous.

It was Cris, the captain of the Special Ability Team.

Huro had heard of Cris before. Back when he was still with his organization, he knew how strong Cris was.

He was sure that if he showed up in front of Tracy, Cris would take him down instantly.

He didn't dare take that risk.

But Tracy was just an ordinary woman. Why did Cris personally come to protect her?

Were they already sure that the secret files were with her?

If the Special Ability Team had really gotten the lab's information, then they wouldn't be here waiting.

Their job was to protect national safety. They didn't need to catch a small spy like him.

Huro knew his place. If it weren't for the value of the stolen data, the Special Ability Team would not be involved.

Thinking of it this way, he felt a little better.

It meant there was still hope to get the information back.

If the Special Ability Team had taken it already, he wouldn't dare fight them.

That team was filled with talented people.

He was just someone who had training. He couldn't win against them.

Actually, he admired Huaguo. Such a big and powerful country.

It had a rich history, strong foundations, and so many talented people.

Even teams like Cris's were spread across cities.

In big cities, there were even bigger Special Ability offices with more experts.

Huaguo was not only large, but also full of amazing people. He was very jealous.

His own country was small, often hit by earthquakes, and didn't have a long history. He felt it was very unfair.

But life was never truly fair.

Even if his country was small, he still loved it. He was willing to give everything for it.

This time, he had to bring the stolen data back to his organization.

It could help his country grow stronger. Even if he died, it would be an honorable death.

But before the information was delivered, he couldn't die yet.

This information was too important.

With it, his country could grow quickly within ten years.

Huro had been hiding in a gene research lab.

The data he stole was about a genetic enhancement drug.

Scientists had been studying genes for a long time. But they didn't make big progress before.

The lab he worked in made a sudden breakthrough in gene research.

Even though there was still room to improve, the results so far were already very impressive.

What he stole was the formula and the research details of the enhancement drug.

Right now, the drug could only be made in a lab.

The amount produced was very small, and the success rate was not high.

Still, the value of the drug was very clear.

He had once seen a mouse that got the injection.

That tiny mouse broke the metal cage and even spat out a fireball.

At that moment, he was shocked and also very tempted.

Even though he had worked in that lab for many years, stealing that file was not easy.

He wasn't fully confident.

But his luck was very good. In the end, he managed to steal it.

Unfortunately, he only got the research data. He didn't get an actual sample of the drug.

If he had stolen a dose, he would have used it himself.

He knew how strong just one shot could be.

Then he wouldn't have to keep running from the Special Ability Team.

But this version of the drug was not complete yet.

It had only been tested on mice, not on humans.

If he used it on himself, the chance of dying from gene failure was very high.

Only a small chance it would work and give him a special ability.
