Chapter 2: New Life Without A Sound
Did something happen to her voice during the accident? Was it severe? Did it cause her voice to disappear?
It felt like the world was thrown at her shoulders that she could feel the full heaviness on it.
Her voice. Did it really fade?
Nan Xiaoying tried and tried again to speak but to no avail. There's no sound even if she would utter a thousand words.
Upon fully realizing her new situation, the corner of her eyes start to redden and just like as expected, a couple of tears stream down on her face.
Her voice. The most precious that she treasured the most. How can she live like this? How can she continue to sing and let her music hear her agony?
A mute. No. No, she can't stay like this. Maybe she can still do something about this. There's a way. There's always a way!
She swiftly moved her body and she was about to rush off to go outside her room but her whole body suddenly stopped from moving when her sight landed on the mirror.
Was she hallucinating?
Nan Xiaoying blinks in confusion and she steps backward. An audible gasp once again escaped from her lips as she stood in front of the mirror like a statue.
Who's this? Who is this woman in the mirror?
Nan Xiaoying unconsciously tilted her head on the side and when the woman inside did her move like what she did, her lips parted in so much horror and she stepped backward.
In front of her was a woman who's very thin and small. She's like a sickly kid because of her paleness. She looks very lifeless and her eyes that's very dim.
Just like a lifeless doll.
Who's this?
Unknowingly, she found herself step forward and she raised her hand to touch the mirror. Once again, she was startled as her gaze moved downwards on her own body.
She's her. They are one.
Her knees suddenly trembled and she fell on the carpeted ground. Her eyes were still staring at her reflection. A woman that she doesn't know.
Why did her face become like this? What happened to her?
Her right hand went to her face. She gently caresses it. It was cold and soft like a child.
I need to calm down and call someone.
She stood up again and went outside her room but she was startled by what welcomed her.
A huge mansion.
Where the hell is she?
Still in so much confusion, she went down the stairs and she kept on roaming her eyes around the silent mansion.
No one was around and it seems like she's alone. Where did they go? And who's house is this?
She rubbed her head lightly and finally found the kitchen.
She went to the refrigerator and poured a glass of water to mend her thirst and anxiety.
However, she suddenly felt like there's someone staring at her. She immediately turned around and she stilled when she saw an unfamiliar man infront of her.
He's wearing a black coat and a white turtle neck inside. He's tall and lean and he has an aloof aura surrounding him.
Who is he?
Was he the one who helped her in that accident? But why is he looking like he's staring at someone very insignificant like that?
She doesn't know why but her feet unconsciously move backwards and the grip on the glass tightens.
"Tsk." She heard him snickered and instead of getting what he wanted in the kitchen, he left right away like he was intentionally moving away from her.
What was that?
Right. Who is he?!
Nan Xiaoying blinked in confusion again and she stepped backward again but to her shock, her body met the counter which startled her.
And the glass on her hand fell into the ground— making it shattered into pieces.
Nan Xiaoying felt a sudden anxiety because of the fear that that man would go back here due to the noise. She immediately went down to get the broken glass.
But because she's panicking, her finger was stabbed by the pointed glass that results in her getting wounded.
Ah!
She gasped slightly in surprise but what was even more was when she saw the continuous blood flow down like the tiny wound was very severe.
Oh, no. What should I do?
Xiaoying was filled with so much anxiety that she started to breathe heavily.
And just as her consciousness starts to withdraw again, flashes of unfamiliar memories start to regain in her mind.
Before she could finally give up on it, she heard footsteps coming towards her until she saw a silhouette in front.
"Such a burden."
That's what the last words that she heard before she fell from oblivion.
To be continued.
