Chapter 11 - 1 YEAR

Fuck off. Why is it so expensive?

"If you don't like it, don't buy it. We're not forcing you to.

Stephan was arguing over the price with a little dwarf.

"You're asking too much for purple equipment."

"I'm not forcing you to buy it. If you don't want it, leave my shop. You're disturbing the customers. If you keep this up, I'll have to call security."

Weapons are classified into tiers. Tier 6 is the lowest, and as the equipment tier decreases, the power and effects of the weapons increase. Even if a Tier F character can use a Tier 1 weapon, they must send their mana to the weapon to unlock its full power and abilities.

6-PURPLE (E)

5-GRAY (D)

4-BLUE (B)

3-YELLOW (AA)

2-RED(S)

1-WHITE(SS)

Of course, these are made with mana and special minerals. Superhumans can use a sword that is not made with mana and can temporarily direct their mana to the sword to bring it to their level, but it is insufficient because it has no abilities. Only normal humans use such swords. Superhumans or superhumans always prefer weapons that use mana because it puts their lives at risk.

The probability of becoming a superhuman is 1 in 10,000 people. Since this probability increases with genetics, superhumans generally marry someone close to their own power and continue their lineage.

Stephan reluctantly gives the money to the dwarf and leaves the shop.

His beard and mustache had grown out, and there were dark circles under his eyes. A year had passed. During this time, he had endured many hardships.

The death of everyone in his family left him so shocked that he could not speak. He searched for each of their bodies one by one. He first found his father's body. His father was surrounded by many demons and Morghul corpses. His body was torn to pieces, but his sword was still in his hand. When Stephan looked at his father's body, many thoughts crossed his mind.

He passed through the ruined road to return to the palace and saw hundreds of human and demon corpses in front of him. As he passed by, he saw a familiar face. It was Atvin. His eyes were open and filled with fear. He closed his eyes and continued on his way. There were human corpses everywhere. Children, women, the elderly, babies, soldiers, young people, and many other types of people. All of their stories were left unfinished. Perhaps for some, this was the end of their story. Stephan continued walking with a blank stare. As he walked, a red aura rose around him. This was the physical manifestation of his anger or rage. He wasn't crying because he didn't have the strength to do so. He could have been a murderer, but he had only killed those who deserved it and hadn't killed too many people. What made him so vulnerable was that everyone had died so brutally and senselessly within just one hour.

He entered the palace and passed by many familiar places. He returned to his own room. The door was broken, but there was no body inside. He took nothing with him and continued on his way. He passed by the kitchen. He passed by the throne room. He saw many bodies. He saw the soldiers guarding him, his father's servant Otis bringing him news, the doctor checking on his condition, the servants washing him. He saw someone even more familiar. Anna was lying on the ground. She wasn't breathing, her eyes were open and blank, as if she were scared. There were many sword and bite marks on her body. It was clear she had died in agony.

'SIGH'

He took a deep breath. She was the one who had welcomed him to this world and helped him in many ways. He had spent more time with her than with his own family.

"Thank you for everything, and I'm sorry."

After saying these words, he continued on his way. He didn't have much time. The commander who had asked him questions told him he only had half an hour left before the teleportation gate closed. He only had half an hour to say goodbye to everyone. His footsteps echoed silently in the corridor.

He passed through the dining hall and exited through the back door. His sister and the others had left from here. He turned around in the corridor and saw more dead bodies, but this time they were people from his family. Elizabeth was lying there with numerous sword wounds and surrounded by blood. Two armored men were lying beside her. A little further away, a beautiful woman was lying there. She looked happy. This surprised Stephan. He counted the familiar bodies and one was missing. It was Estelle. Her body was not there. Either she had died elsewhere or she had survived. Stephan began to hurry. He had seen a glimmer of hope. He searched the corridor. He looked in the rooms but could not find her. He searched everywhere but couldn't find her. Just as he was about to give up, he heard a faint cry. He moved toward the source of the sound. There was movement among the building debris at the corner of the corridor. He drew his sword to be cautious. He listened more closely and the sound seemed familiar. He dropped his sword and ran toward the debris. He began lifting the stones and planks. He saw dirty blonde hair. Finally, he saw those familiar blue eyes. It was Estelle. Estelle looked at Stephan and screamed.

"NO! STAY AWAY FROM ME! PLEASE, PLEASE, I BEG YOU!"

Stephan looked at Estelle and finally got it. Her face was covered in blood. Stephan wiped her face and hugged Estelle.

"It's all done. Hey, Estelle, your brother's here. You're safe."

He said these words as he hugged Estelle tightly.

"I promise you. I'll get my revenge, and I'll make sure this doesn't happen again."

Estelle's screams stopped, and she cried as she hugged Stephan. She was still young. She was just 14, and it was all too much for her. She looked a lot like her mother. It was nothing short of a miracle that she survived.

Stephan clenched his fist tightly. She only survived because she fainted from low mana.

Later, Stephan took his sister with him and went back to the soldiers, passing through the gate and returning to the safe human lands.

This incident caused a lot of turmoil. Even though the Kingdom of Agnos was not very powerful, it was in a safe location. It was as if the demons were mocking them, saying that no place was safe. One day after this incident, they began attacking the demon lands.

Many casualties were incurred. Some kingdoms that did not comply with the Federation elders' proclamation refused to retreat and were annihilated by the demon attacks. The reason was clear. Because the king refused to relinquish the power he held, millions of people died, and this incident occurred at hundreds of locations.

The best results were achieved at only three locations. 1. Atvin and a group of S-level superhumans ambushed the demons, and the ambush was successful. Five S-level demons were killed, and the others retreated. 2. After returning from the Agnos Kingdom, Eren voluntarily went to the front lines. Despite the elders' council's efforts to persuade him otherwise, they failed. Eren, who went to the front lines with only his own unit, protected the city and its people during the demon attack. During this time, he single-handedly killed 2 S-level and 100 A-level demons. This was undoubtedly a shocking and hopeful event. The city was evacuated, and the area was abandoned. Immediately afterward, the demons took control of the region. All they did was capture an empty castle. At the third point, Magnus, the strongest human at the SS level, provided support. Magnus, who fought alongside Hallow Saint and the unit, won the battle by plunging his sword into the heart of the SS-level demon after a 24-hour siege.

That was all that happened. There was nothing more. Many regions were destroyed. Humans retreated westward one by one. During this time, they did not only fight demons. They engaged in many major battles with the Grods. Within a year, the region humans controlled, which was originally 4/8, decreased to 2/8. Magnus succeeded and formed an alliance with other races. The pressure on humans decreased as a result of attacks from dragons, elves, and other races in their own regions. Currently, humans had three major fronts. Each front had one SS-level commander.

Many changes took place with the new administration. Many kings lost their authority. With the new administration, people's ranks rose according to their contributions.

1-Human leader

2-Council of Elders

3-Clan leaders

4-Commanders

5-Military personnel

6-New World Academy students

7-Ordinary people

Magnus Leinfal was elected as the human leader. No one objected to this decision. It was the right decision. The Council of Elders was the new version of the round table. It had 12 members. Since Magnus became the leader and two members died, new members were added. The elders who had previously been seriously injured were now healed and rose in rank under Magnus' protection.

The monarchy system was abolished, and as a result, the people established a system of governance called clans. The council and Magnus did not oppose this because they wanted to share the burden.

1-Akid

2-Zealborn

3-Dawn Fire

These were recognized as the three major clans. Their leaders were at the S level and had hundreds of powerful members.

As people were evacuated, a housing problem arose. As a result, they launched a massive project. A huge city was built on the land closest to the ocean to house 100 million people, and it was recognized as the capital of humanity. With the help of the superhumans, construction was completed in four months, and three more cities were built. Each location held strategic importance. Following the wars, only one billion people remained out of three billion. 1,754 Level 5 kingdoms, 297 Level 4 kingdoms, 32 Level 3 kingdoms, 10 Level 2 kingdoms, and 2 Level 1 kingdoms were destroyed. This was a severe blow.

The capital was named Sanctuary. The New World Academy resumed admissions as the wars subsided. Stephan would be heading there in a week. Throughout this entire period, he survived for a year using the money his brother had given him and what was left over from before.

After receiving the news, Jin did not go to the kingdom of Agnos, but came straight to us. He punched me and took Estelle with him, saying, "You're useless." I don't judge him. He seemed angry because I was unconscious during that time and couldn't do anything. Even my father and brothers, who were stronger than me, couldn't survive, but someone useless like me did. It doesn't matter; I'm not a child. I'll just pay back the price of that punch one day.

While heading to where I was stranded, I checked the status screen.
