Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: A Continuable Text-Based Game

Currently, Uchiha Yuan's stat panel looks like this:

Chakra Capacity: 90

Constitution: 69

Eye Power: 100

Vitality: 12

Nature Affinity: 4

Level: lv18 (4/20)

Stat Points: 35

Over the past two weeks, Uchiha Yuan earned a total of 26 stat points from the text-based game, plus 3 constitution points from training—29 points in total.

Speaking of the last two weeks' text games, Uchiha Yuan felt annoyed. Maybe it was because he got 25 points in constitution all at once before, but recently the text-based games had been painfully mediocre. None had given him more than 5 points, although most days he still managed to get 2 points.

After finishing today's patrol mission, Uchiha Yuan returned to his tent, lay down on the bed, and spun the roulette wheel.

After the usual visual effects, a line of text appeared in front of him:

"You have logged into Su'nan, capital of the Xuzhu Kingdom."

"Located in the northwest of the Arad continent, Xuzhu has a small territory and a distinct language and clothing style. The residents here are known for being sharp-minded—although many are short and thin, quite a few are adept at manipulating qi."

"Ever since childhood, you dreamed of learning qi techniques and becoming a great Qi Master."

"But your mother hoped you'd grow up to be a strong swordsman like your neighbor Nuo Yu–onee-san."

"When you were six, your mother sent you to the small dojo where Nuo Yu taught swordsmanship."

"You remember the day you went to seek apprenticeship—a young man stood outside the dojo, wobbling slightly as he walked. He was hard of hearing and kept muttering that the dojo was closed and not accepting new disciples."

"To make sure you could learn real skills, your mother bought the young man lots of alcohol and, while he was drunk, forced you to kneel and formally acknowledge him as your master."

"And that's how you joined Xilan's dojo."

"At first, you felt your future was bleak—the drunken young man seemed utterly unremarkable."

"But soon you discovered that he was actually quite formidable. He never drew his sword; just a casually picked-up tree branch was enough for him to repel many visiting Qi Masters trying to challenge the dojo."

"Three years later, your neighbor Nuo Yu–onee-san was awarded the title of Royal Swordsman by King Su'nan Aska. That was an immense honor—fewer than five swordsmen in all of Xuzhu had ever earned it."

"As one of only two disciples in the dojo, you felt immense pressure."

"Another seven years passed. At sixteen, you had mastered the technique of Fast Sword taught by Xilan."

"One night, while drunk, Xilan boasted that it was thanks to this Fast Sword technique that he once roamed the Arad continent and met few rivals."

"At first, you didn't believe him. But after ten years of training, you had become unbeatable among all the dojos in Xuzhu. Yet, you couldn't even last 10 seconds against your master."

"One day, your teacher received a visit from an old friend—a man who looked just as much like a drunkard. You couldn't explain why, but this uncle named Aganzo looked familiar."

"Once drunk, they talked about the 'Screaming Caverns'. Your master told Aganzo that after the Screaming Cavern incident, he became an immortal swordsman, unable to die and burdened by eternal youth."

"That's when you realized—your master hadn't aged a day in the past ten years."

"Aganzo mentioned the Apostle Lotus on the Sky Veil Beast."

"Your master replied that he too had sensed apostle energy in the Norsmare region."

"You didn't understand what apostles were, but you saw something in their eyes—something you'd never seen before."

"Two days later, your teacher left and told you to stay behind to guard the dojo."

"You remained for half a year before finally growing restless and deciding to follow in his footsteps and roam the Arad continent."

"Like your master, you earned a great reputation with your Fast Sword technique."

"One day, you reached the northwest border of the Delos Empire, heavily guarded by soldiers."

"You were planning to bypass it, but then saw a white-haired young girl being shoved into a strange imperial research facility called Bilmark."

"The hopeless look on her face stirred your compassion."

"You decided to sneak into the facility under the cover of night to rescue the girl."

"Inside, the place was saturated with strange energy and crawling with mutated creatures."

"You fought your way through and found the girl. Just as you reached to grab her arm, a powerful force threw you backward."

"You sensed that this strange force had entered your body, and soon after, you lost consciousness."

"When you awoke, you were lying on a cold operating table, next to the white-haired girl."

"To study how the energy affected the human body, the researchers subjected both of you to inhumane experiments."

"Over time, the two of you became close. She said that if you ever regained your freedom, she'd kill everyone there and destroy the Delos Empire."

"You agreed to join her."

"Separated by icy iron bars, you held each other's hands tightly."

"At that moment, you became the most important person in her heart. She even said she wanted to marry you and become your bride."

"But you were just prisoners, and she was only 12. Though you liked her too, you didn't want to get hit with charges of indecency."

"Sadly, your love had no happy ending. Two days later, you were taken away—not for experiments, but for dissection."

"Your chest was cut open and your organs were made into specimens."

"You died. But the strange energy preserved your soul."

Game Over.

"You gained: +5 Stat Points, Affection from the White-Haired Girl, and 'Temporal Energy Protection'. You can now accumulate up to 5 text-game attempts to activate Temporal Energy Protection and continue the adventure."

After the text game ended, Uchiha Yuan opened his eyes. This was the first time he had earned a chance to continue an adventure from a text-based game.

His gut told him there was probably a big reward waiting for him.

But that wasn't the most important thing now—the real news was that he had 39 stat points.

He assigned 20 points to Chakra and 19 points to Eye Power.

Now his stat panel looked like this:

Chakra Capacity: 110

Constitution: 69

Eye Power: 119

Vitality: 12

Nature Affinity: 4

Level: lv20 (4/30)

Stat Points: 0
