"You're so lazy!! You were napping all night!!"
"I think that's called sleeping."
"Excuses, excuses!"
Papyrus grumbled, stomping ahead while I trailed behind. We both stopped when we spotted Frisk standing at the far side of a nearby snowy maze.
"Oh ho! The human arrives!" Papyrus announced with theatrical flair. "In order to stop you, my brother and I have created some puzzles! I think you will find this one quite shocking! For you see, this is the Invisible Electricity Maze. When you touch the walls of this maze, this orb will administer a hearty zap! Sound like fun?"
He grinned, holding up the glowing orb.
"Because the amount of fun you will probably have is actually rather small... I think. Okay! You can go ahead now!"
Frisk took a single step forward.
ZAP!
Papyrus yelped as electricity sparked around him. Turns out, he was still holding the orb.
"Sans!!! What did you do?!"
I shrugged. "I think the human has to hold the orb."
"Oh... okay."
Still crackling slightly, he walked across the snowy maze to the other side—unaware that his feet were leaving perfectly visible tracks through the snow.
"Hold this, please," he said, handing the orb to Frisk.
Without wasting a second, he darted back across to where he'd started.
"Okay! Try now!"
Frisk looked amused. Without a word, she simply followed his footprints—walking easily through the maze and reaching the other side without a single zap.
"Incredible!! You slippery snail!" Papyrus gasped. "You solved it so easily... too easily! However!! The next puzzle will not be easy! It is designed by my brother, Sans! You will be confounded! I know I am! Nyeh heh heh heh heh!"
And with that, he proudly marched further down the snowy path.
I stayed behind for a moment and glanced at Frisk.
"Hey, thanks. My bro seems like he's having fun. By the way, did you see that weird outfit he's wearing? We made that a few weeks ago for a costume party. He hasn't worn anything else since. Keeps calling it his battle body. Man... isn't my brother cool?"
Frisk continued on her way, walking through the snow-covered trail. Not long after, she found herself facing a monster trying to sell ice cream in the cold.
"I don't understand why these aren't selling," the vendor muttered. "It's the perfect weather for something cold!"
"That's probably why they aren't selling," Frisk mumbled gently, still polite.
"Oh!! A customer!!" he perked up instantly. "Hello! Would you like some Nice Cream? It's the frozen treat that warms your heart! Now just 15G!"
Whether out of kindness or curiosity, she reached into her pocket and bought one.
"Here you go! Have a super duper day!" he cheered.
A little farther down the trail, Frisk finally saw me again, casually standing off to the side.
"I've been thinking about selling treats too," I said. "Want some fried snow? It's just 5G."
She smiled knowingly—clearly understanding the joke—but didn't respond right away.
"Did I say 5G? I meant 50G."
That made her back off, still smiling.
"Guess I'll need to find some other way to make money," I said, sighing. "Gotta get more ketchup somehow."
She turned and walked off, continuing down the snowy path. After a moment, I followed, hands in my pockets and grin still lingering.
