— Chapter 2: Gum-Gum, Chop-Chop, and the Rise of Power! —

«-------------------------------------------»

The seas of the One Piece world are vast, violent, and filled with dreamers. Among them rise those chosen—or cursed—by Devil Fruits. Today, we begin our exploration with seven of the most iconic fruits in history, each shaping legends in their own way.

① Gomu Gomu no Mi (Now known as: Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika)

Type: Mythical Zoan

Current User: Monkey D. Luffy

Appearance: A purple, round fruit with swirl-like patterns and a stem like a looped tail.

Original Classification: Paramecia

True Nature: Mythical Zoan

❖ Description:

For years, the Gomu Gomu no Mi was believed to be a Paramecia fruit that turned the user's body into rubber. Luffy, its wielder, used this elasticity in absurd, creative ways—stretching limbs, bouncing attacks, inflating his body like a balloon.

But the truth hidden by the World Government for centuries shocked the world:

It is actually the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, a Mythical Zoan fruit that grants the user the powers of the Sun God Nika, the embodiment of freedom and laughter.

❖ Abilities:

Stretch like rubber.

Immunity to blunt attacks.

Gear-based transformations: Gear Second (speed), Gear Third (giant limbs), Gear Fourth (compressed muscle power).

Awakened Form (Gear Fifth): Reality-defying powers. Transforms the world around him like rubber. Turns imagination into power.

❖ Weaknesses:

Standard Devil Fruit vulnerability to water and Sea-Prism Stone.

Still affected by sharp objects.

Gear-based forms consume extreme stamina.

② Bara Bara no Mi (Chop-Chop Fruit)

Type: Paramecia

Current User: Buggy the Clown

Appearance: A pale-colored fruit resembling a cantaloupe, with thick swirl patterns.

❖ Description:

The Bara Bara no Mi allows its user to split their body into separate parts and control them independently. These parts can float in mid-air within a certain radius of the main body.

Buggy, the current user and comically infamous pirate, used it for both defense and slapstick.

❖ Abilities:

Can split into dozens of floating body parts.

Immunity to bladed attacks—swords and axes pass harmlessly through.

Independent control of limbs for tricky surprise attacks.

Parts can act autonomously in limited range (approx. 200 Bara meters).

❖ Weaknesses:

Limited range between body parts.

Separated feet cannot fly.

Vulnerable to blunt damage.

Still drowns in water if submerged, even in parts.

③ Mera Mera no Mi (Flame-Flame Fruit)

Type: Logia

Current User: Sabo (formerly Portgas D. Ace)

Appearance: Flame-shaped fruit, reddish-orange with flickering swirls like fire.

❖ Description:

The Mera Mera no Mi grants control over fire, allowing the user to become fire itself. This fruit turned Ace, and later Sabo, into walking infernos—untouchable, blazing warriors who ruled the battlefield.

❖ Abilities:

Become fire; avoid physical attacks by dispersing into flame.

Launch high-speed, destructive flame attacks (e.g., Hiken - Fire Fist).

Fire propulsion allows short-range flight.

Burn through structures, melt steel, and decimate opponents.

❖ Weaknesses:

Vulnerable to Haki-infused attacks.

Ice-based powers (like Aokiji's) can counter its flames.

Fire cannot affect non-flammable targets like magma.

④ Bomu Bomu no Mi (Bomb-Bomb Fruit)

Type: Paramecia

Current User: Gem (Mr. 5)

Appearance: A round fruit resembling a spiked sea mine, dark purple with fizzing swirl marks.

❖ Description:

This peculiar fruit allows the user to turn any part of their body into a bomb—without harm to themselves. Mr. 5, a former Baroque Works agent, used it to deadly effect by weaponizing sneezes and flicks.

❖ Abilities:

Can cause explosions from any body part, even mucus.

Body immune to explosions.

Detonations are pressure-based rather than heat-based.

Capable of mid-air bomb launches with precision.

❖ Weaknesses:

Limited explosive range.

Strength of explosions tied to user's physical power.

Easily outclassed by more destructive Logia users.

⑤ Sube Sube no Mi (Slip-Slip Fruit)

Type: Paramecia

Current User: Alvida

Appearance: A sleek, glossy pink fruit with water-droplet patterns.

❖ Description:

This fruit grants the user perfectly smooth, frictionless skin. Attacks slide off effortlessly, making the user immune to most forms of physical harm.

Alvida transformed from a heavy-set pirate to a slim, polished beauty after consuming the fruit.

❖ Abilities:

Defense via total friction removal—bullets, swords, fists slide off.

Movement enhancement—can glide across surfaces.

Skin remains permanently soft, shiny, and untouchable.

❖ Weaknesses:

Does not protect from elemental or Haki-infused attacks.

Offers no offensive capabilities.

Environmental hazards (like slipping) still apply.

⑥ Kilo Kilo no Mi (Kilo-Kilo Fruit)

Type: Paramecia

Current User: Mikita (Miss Valentine)

Appearance: A lemon-yellow fruit with weight-scale symbols and swirling curls.

❖ Description:

The Kilo Kilo no Mi allows the user to freely adjust their weight between 1 kilogram and 10,000 kilograms without changing body size or strength.

Mikita used it in aerial combat by floating and then slamming down with earth-shattering weight.

❖ Abilities:

Change weight instantly.

Use light weight to float and hover (with umbrella or tools).

Use heavy weight to crush enemies or structures.

Effective in tandem with aerial attacks.

❖ Weaknesses:

No defensive abilities.

Still susceptible to faster or ranged opponents.

Requires mobility tools (e.g., umbrella) for aerial tactics.

⑦ Hana Hana no Mi (Flower-Flower Fruit)

Type: Paramecia

Current User: Nico Robin

Appearance: Pale lavender fruit with petal-like designs and a green stem.

❖ Description:

The Hana Hana no Mi allows the user to replicate parts of their body (usually arms) on any surface within range, including walls, other people, and even mid-air.

Robin, the "Devil Child," mastered this ability to immobilize enemies, spy, and manipulate large-scale environments with terrifying grace.

❖ Abilities:

Sprout arms (or eyes, legs, ears) anywhere.

Combine limbs to create large constructs (e.g., giant limbs).

Combat techniques such as Clutch, where she breaks spines by locking joints from afar.

Can sprout wings made of arms for temporary gliding.

❖ Weaknesses:

Cloned limbs still feel pain.

Vulnerable when using large-scale forms.

Requires precise focus; overuse causes exhaustion.

Each of these fruits changed the course of history. Behind every name—Luffy, Buggy, Ace, Sabo, Robin—is a Devil Fruit that shaped them into who they are today. As we continue our journey, the abilities only get stranger, more terrifying, and more powerful.
