Both their auras pierced through the Void and the realms of reason, bordering the unimaginable, yet the planet was unaffected. Their control over their strength had been honed to incredible levels over decades. If they did not wish to destroy everything around them, they wouldn't.
T stretched his hands out, chains with blades at their ends slamming into his palms as he shook his arms, causing his chains to rattle akin to the whispers of death.
Val responded with a smile as he brandished his sabers.
Two transparent marbles appeared in front of T as he flicked one towards Val.
Val popped the marble into his mouth, which dissolved immediately, relishing in the state of power he was in, he double-checked their plans. If they could even be called that.
"2 seconds to fuck around, all out after that."
"Yea, yea."
As if on cue, the fabric of reality shattered as a being above the rules of the world breached through the borders of existence. The laws of the world went silent as it released its grand presence, abandoning the two friends in the face of a greater truth. The being itself was oddly shaped and coloured. Its entire body was a translucent green in the shape of a teardrop. It slowly turned its body, almost lazily, as it found the two men below. Seeing their inferior shapes, a chuckle resounded across spacetime as the being transformed into a humanoid shape. After a fraction of a second, it had already adapted to its new form as Wind Lu swam into the Void, completely disregarding its laws and encroaching onto Val's domain.
"Motherfuckers," Val spat. "They didn't even send one of our own domains."
"Bastards, indeed." T chuckled as he primed his stance.
As they watched the being terraform an entire section of the Void into his own nature and smile at them from above, their fighting instincts finally kicked in at full force. Their adrenaline travelled through each and every organ as they felt the end of their lives near.
"This is do or die." Val grinned.
"Eh… we'll probably die." T lazily responded, his eyes locked onto the being above. "Enough shut up."
Val chuckled.
In an instant, they both disappeared from the face of the planet, appearing millions of kilometres above. Val stood across the small domain of Wind that had invaded his territory as he saw T flash to the other side. They briefly made eye contact as the same thought flashed through their minds:
'We'll win.'
***
The Void. Exactly 4 seconds later.
Val bent the Void to his will, moving in and out of the barrage of wind blades that seemed to be able to cut apart the Void itself. His body was drenched in sweat and blood. He forced the surrounding space to stabilise as he bent the Void again, appearing right behind Wind—the being above their world—just to be grabbed by his wrist and flung down. Val's vision blurred as he almost phased back into the Material realm due to the sheer speed at which he was moving. He bit his tongue as he focused just enough to see the planet that he and T had been sitting on to blink out of sight.
He tried to take control over himself again, but alas, Wind appeared behind him, a fist of illusionary wind directly shattering his spine as he flung back in his original direction. He forced his consciousness to clarity for what felt like the umpteenth time in this battle, just in time to see the planet grow from the size of a dust particle to half of his vision as he was about to smash into the ground.
Val hoped for a second of rest, that piercing through the planet would slow his fall and allow him respite. Unfortunately, a wall of wind appeared just below his collision point. The full force of his momentum was reflected in an instant, shattering every bone in his body as well as turning his insides into mush.
Seeing Wind's slow, confident stride towards himself, Val took a split second to glance at a mountain peak to his left, his head tilting as he lay sprawled on the ground. T was still alive, even if just barely.
He was pierced into a spike near the mountaintop with a missing leg and arm, the spike had torn through his heart and lungs, occupying most of his chest. The rich red, bright fluid at the tip and below the spike spoke of his torturous position.
Val gazed above as Wind finally reached him. A neon green energy enveloped his eyes as he looked directly at Wind's eyes.
Wind froze, unable to move.
Though Val's chance didn't last more than a second, that was more than enough; at his strength, seconds could hold as much as years to a mortal. Val reached into the most minuscule depths of reality as his hand practically turned green under the magnitude of his Lu. He pulled on a superposition, directly superposing with a version of him that hadn't been tossed around like a ragdoll.
No bursts of Lu. No sound. No fanfare. One breath, and he was at death's door–the next, as if he'd never even knocked.
Now, he had to buy time for T to heal and return; they would fight together. Together, they just might stand a chance. That small ray of hope bloomed into a star capable of burning the fiercest of wills into nothingness. Val grinned.
"Like hell we'll go out like this."
Val's eyes blazed with neon colors as a grin plastered itself onto his features.
Fight.
Fight harder than ever before. Faster than ever before. Better than ever before.
Val's grin grew as his body thrummed; the Void seemed to pulse around him, brighter and brighter with each beat of his heart. Existence itself leaned in, rallying behind him, and with it came the music of the humans.
An orchestra. An orchestra meant to support him, the champion of humanity.
The music moved in sync with his actions, building to a crescendo.
Val opened his arms wide with a grin plastered on his face.
