Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Elucidated Girl

"Okay, so first off, who are you?"

I decided to take a straightforward approach with my pursuit of information gathering. Rather that than blindly scurry around in circles forever.

"Uhh, my name's Bell. My parents named me it because when I was a baby, my cries always resounded."

"My name is Stiyl. It means nothing. Does that mean you weren't named until you were already born for a while?"

"I guess so."

Alright, I'm beginning to think this is a lost cause.

I take a deep breath in order to clear my conscious. Once I'm finished I feel rejuvenated and ready to jump back into my task.

This girl doesn't seem to be much of a help. Let's broaden the scope. Looking around, it appears a normal room from any possible angle. However, after walking to the lit candle and studying it intently momentarily, I discover its flame is floating in midair.

I had a suspicion after reading so many web novels this might be the case. It seems me and this girl are in another world. This flame seems to disobey all laws of physics. And now that I think about it, I do feel a bit too calm in here. Almost like an alllied lull, without my recollection. It must be some sort of magical effect in place.

I'll touch on this in a moment. First I have another question:

"So how long have you been here? In this room I mean. Or more rather, maybe asking about the estate as a whole would be best."

This reminded Stiyl of the relationship between subsets and universal sets. Maybe instead of identifying the value of one aspect of the equation, he should look at the bigger picture, in order to draw meaning out of each value of lesser magnitude.

"I've been here for about two weeks. This room I mean. I can't seem to find a way out, but to be honest I'm comfy as is in here. I don't really know why me and you got sent here, but there must be a reason, right? Besides, I've been treated like a princess. Do you see this bed? Comparing it to yours…. Let's not go there."

This girl is a total bitch, whether she intends to be or not.

"Okay, okay," I interjected, "so how have you been nourishing your health through food and the like?"

"Well you see that little flap on the iron door? There's been food passed through there three times daily, along with water and tea. And for the bathroom and bathing, I haven't seemed to need to here."

Maybe this room prevents the deterioration of hygiene and automatically processes bodily processes in the most apt way? It would explain why I seem to feel so fresh and rejuvenated in here.

"Listen, you might be comfortable here, but I'm not. I'm finding a way out of here, no matter the consequences."

Yes, this is a way to actualize my fate. I must take my defined esthetic and penetrate the haze between possibility and necessity with the direction of my principles. One of those being to not be confined without just cause. In this day and age, a due trial is fair, is it not?

My resolve settled, I held my steel gaze locked with the eyes of Bell.
