"From darkness came light"
The quote rang around Thames' head, his body spiraling through the void. Not an ounce of sense made it to the mind of this abandoned man. He couldn't even let out a self deprecating chuckle, he attempted to, but the sound was lost.
Where.. Where am I..?
Thames' mind had grown mad. He had lost his sense of time. Only his thoughts provided him comfort, but by now they began to betray him.
Who was that thing..? Do not gaze??? It forced me to!
He continued to fall, at least that's what he assumed to be what was happening. A glint of light catches his eye. From the corner of his right eye something shone in this encapsulating void.
Light! Please god! Mother Trem!
Thames, although not an especially religious man, begged the one divine he could think of. His eyes were fixated on the small light, but it grew fast. The light which contrasted this black void quickly consumed the darkness.
This dream is too long..!
Thames thinks to himself as the light stretches over him. Above him is a brilliant day sky, much more pleasant than the one he was familiar with. The blue sky drowns out the void, but he continues to fall.
Chirp chirp.. Chirp chirp..
As the sky stretches out further and further, the calming sound of birds chirping makes his ears twitch. His head snaps towards the direction, clearly down, and he looks at the blue birds flying past him.
Birds..?
Just as he finishes questioning his sanity, he notices the quickly approaching ground. The most vibrant green he'd ever seen, dotted with bountiful trees with apples and oranges. His eyes sparkle at this marvelous sight.
Ground at last.. Oh Mother Trem!
He thanks his goddess, but then sweat starts to fly off his face. The wind hits him harder as his descent begins to actually gain weight.
Wait.. Wait, wait, WAIT!
"AHHHHHHHH!"
He lets out a shriek as he crashes through the branches of an apple tree, the red fruit hitting his forehead as he lands surprisingly softly onto the comforting grass. His hands stretch across his body, a clear expression of surprise casted across his face.
I'm.. Fine!
"I'm fine!"
He yells out to the forest, nearby wildlife running from the screaming man. He jumps up to his feet with great energy and sticks his arms into the air! Overjoyed at the sight of this magnificent garden, Thames takes a shining apple.
Save this for later..
He thinks to himself. Just as he rubs the dirt off the pristine red apple, the sound of flowing water creeps into his ears past the singing birds. His head spins around, attempting to find the source, and locks onto the direction.
Water! There might be people by it, right?!?
With the feintest source of hope, Thames' runs towards the sound of the water. Weaving through orange and apple trees, the sun shining through the light canopy and onto him, he finally reaches the source.
A small stream trickles towards in the same direction of the traveling sun. Thames crouches down onto the grass and cups the water with his left hand, slowly raising it to his mouth.
Cold!
His eyes jolt as the nearly freezing cold water touches his tongue, but almost immediately he goes for another sip. Feeling satisfied, Thames looks down stream, attempting to see any sign of civilization, but only trees filled with fruit are able to be seen.
"Well there's gotta be some sort of town nearby.."
Speaking to himself for reassurance, he gets back to his feet and starts following the stream down.
Should I be going down or up stream? Most towns would be upstream right..?
Thames turns sharply in the opposite direction, but continues at the same pace. After what feels like an hour of walking, his stomach rumbles.
Guess I can eat the apple…
He lifts the shiny red apple to his lips and takes a bite, the juice flowing into his mouth as a crisp crack can be heard through the forest.
Never liked apples..
He groans as he recalls how his sister would throw sour green apples at his head when he wouldn't help her out of trouble.
Let's just find civilization first.
He swallows the apple.
CRACK!
The sound of a deathly cracking can be heard as his vision fades to black.
