Prologue – The Day Everything Changed

The city was quiet that evening.

Streetlights buzzed overhead, and the sidewalks glowed with the golden light of sunset. I was just leaving the office, my bag slung over my shoulder, headphones in, same old routine.

Life had become predictable.

Wake up, work, go home. Repeat.

But every now and then… I still thought about her.

The girl I loved back in high school.

She had been my friend. My crush. My everything — even if I never had the courage to say it.

She had chosen someone else back then.

And I told myself it was fine.

That she was happy.

That my feelings didn't matter.

But then… I saw her.

There she was. Standing on the sidewalk, near the edge of a busy road.

Alone. Crying.

Her eyes looked hollow. Her face pale.

And for a moment — she stared at the passing cars like she wasn't really there at all.

My chest tightened. My steps quickened.

She didn't notice me at first. She just kept staring forward, unmoving.

Was she…?

No. No. No.

I shouted her name and ran. The world moved in slow motion.

I grabbed her wrist — pulled her back —

But in that sudden motion, my own balance slipped.

I stumbled forward—

My feet hit the edge of the road—

And the headlights came rushing in—

A deafening horn. A flash of light.

Darkness.

---

"AH—!"

I jolted awake, my body shooting upright in my seat.

My breath was loud — too loud. My heart slammed in my chest like a drum.

My hands were trembling, cold sweat clinging to my skin. My eyes darted around in a panic.

Where… was I?

Desks. Chairs. A chalkboard.

Fluorescent lights above. The low murmur of a classroom.

I could hear someone's pen scratching paper. Someone coughing behind me. A teacher's voice droning on faintly.

This was a classroom.

But not just any classroom—

My old classroom.

I looked down.

My arms… thinner. My hands… younger.

I was wearing my school uniform. My high school uniform.

What the hell is this?

I grabbed my bag, heart pounding, and pulled out my phone with shaking fingers.

The date on the lock screen made my blood run cold.

Seven years ago.

My chest tightened.

"No way…" I whispered.

What is happening?
