In a world where organized crime is no longer hidden in the shadows, the title of Assassin One reigns supreme—a rank recognized across the underworld, symbolizing unmatched power, respect, and influence. These Assassins wield extraordinary abilities known as Sungaze, granting them supernatural enhancements unique to each user. Bound by a strict code—most notably, a no-firearm rule—their fights unfold in raw, violent displays of power, skill, and strategy. Cities across the world are shaped by this violent hierarchy. Criminal empires rise and fall based on strength alone. The pursuit of the Assassin One title has turned back alleys, ports, and even abandoned warehouses into arenas for bloody conflict. South Korea, Tongyeong – 5:25 p.m

The temperature was warm, the sky was clear and blue, with almost no clouds in sight. The sun was beaming. The port was empty—no ships, no crates—it nearly looked abandoned. A young man wearing an oversized white shirt, black shorts, white socks, and black sandals opened the door of one of the many warehouses located in the port.

The man walked inside, and everything was dark. His warm light-blue eyes scanned the area. "Can you turn on the lights? I know you're in here," the man spoke. The lights were then turned on.

His eyes widened once he saw the number of people inside the warehouse—at least thirty. All of them held crowbars, bats, and metal poles in hand. At the very back of the warehouse, a man sat on a wooden crate. He was menacing: a black goatee accompanied by a thin mustache, tanned skin, black eyes filled with greed, and short black hair. He wore a black suit. " was expecting you, Hyun-Woo Yoon." Hyun-Woo looked shocked. "The great drug lord Tae-Hyun knows of me?" Hyun-Woo asked.

Tae-Hyun smirked before standing up from the crate. He reached into his left pocket and pulled out a revolver. "You flatter me, Hyun-Woo. I'm no drug lord. I'm just a measly peasant in the grand scheme of things."

Hyun-Woo sighed before running his pale hand through his brown hair—an unstyled wolf cut layered in messy strands. "Tae-Hyun, just give yourself in. I don't really feel like beating your ass."

Tae-Hyun chuckled at his comment. Then his expression became serious as he looked back at him. In a cold, emotionless voice, he spoke: "Kill him."

All the men charged at Hyun-Woo with murderous intent. One of the men raised a metal pole into the air and swung it down toward his head from the side. Hyun-Woo stepped back, barely avoiding the attack. The pole struck the ground, making a clunking noise that echoed. "That would've killed me… They really do want me dead…" he thought.

Hyun-Woo's eyes became determined. Using all his strength, he dashed toward one of the men, and the gap closed instantly. Hyun-Woo sent out a powerful punch, which struck the man head-on in the face. The man's nose bled as he fell backward, unconscious.

A man came from behind Hyun-Woo and got ready to attack. Before he could, Hyun-Woo did a spinning kick and struck the man in the side of the head, knocking him out.

Suddenly, another man swung a crowbar at him. He managed to block with his left forearm, but it still left a wound. Blood began to flow down his forearm, and he grunted in pain. "Damn it…" Hyun-Woo retaliated with a right hook, knocking the man out.

Suddenly, Hyun-Woo was struck in the face by a metal bat. He heard ringing noises all around him. Blood flowed down his face, and his vision was blinded by red. Hyun-Woo reached out his hand and grabbed the man who struck him by the neck before throwing him into wooden crates. Shortly after, he jumped back to create some space and get some breathing room.

"There's still more than twenty around… Can I win this?" he thought. Four men charged at him at the same time in a horizontal line, all of them with weapons in hand. Suddenly, Hyun-Woo's eyes began to glow. He dashed toward the men, light blue trails being left behind by his eyes. "Enough toying around."

Suddenly, Hyun-Woo kicked one of the men in the side of the stomach. The man was sent crashing into the other men, and all of them were sent flying into crates.

Hyun-Woo stood among all the unconscious men and was barely harmed. All who remained was Tae-Hyun. "Not bad, Hyun-Woo. You might be a rookie Assassin, but don't let defeating a bunch of regular people get to your head."

Tae-Hyun took a step forward and pointed his revolver at Hyun-Woo. "Let's see how you do against another Assassin, Hyun-Woo Yoon." Hyun-Woo looked annoyed. "Pull the trigger. I won't move."

Tae-Hyun smirked before pulling the trigger. Nothing happened. "Even a scumbag like you respects the no-firearm rule, Tae-Hyun." Tae-Hyun sighed. "I couldn't care less about respect. It's just my ego won't let me break the rule. I don't want to be seen as a coward and weak." Tae-Hyun dropped his revolver; it struck the floor. As soon as the noise touched their ears, they dashed at each other.

Tae-Hyun grinned as he threw a punch. Hyun-Woo avoided it with ease and retaliated with a clean punch to his face. "Turn yourself in," Hyun-Woo said before stepping back and kicking Tae-Hyun in the stomach. He slid back while grunting. Tae-Hyun placed his hand on his stomach. "Don't get cocky, Hyun-Woo. I haven't even used my Sungaze yet!"

Hyun-Woo remained emotionless as he dashed at Tae-Hyun. Hyun-Woo kicked him in the side of the stomach. He was sent flying into crates, destroying them. "Without your Stargaze, you'll lose."

Tae-Hyun stood up and sighed. Suddenly, his black eyes began to glow. Tae-Hyun was stumbling around as if he were high on weed.

Hyun-Woo looked somewhat amazed before scoffing. Suddenly, Tae-Hyun closed the gap between them in an instant. Hyun-Woo's eyes widened. He threw a powerful punch, but Tae-Hyun evaded it.

Suddenly, Hyun-Woo was sent flying across the warehouse by a powerful punch to the stomach. He struck the ground and coughed out blood, groaning in pain. "His Sungaze is definitely more than just a stat buff… unlike mine…"

Hyun-Woo got on one knee before standing back up. The "drunken" Tae-Hyun began walking toward him. Then again, he dashed at Hyun-Woo at rapid speeds—but Hyun-Woo was ready this time."I need to end this quick. If my Sungaze runs out, I'm dead," he thought. Hyun-Woo put all his strength behind his right fist and threw it in front of him, predicting where Tae-Hyun would be. Just as his punch was about to fully extend, Tae-Hyun ran into it.

"A powerful stat increase, yet you become stupid. What a shitty Sungaze," he said to himself as he punched Tae-Hyun into the floor. Hyun-Woo had knocked him unconscious.

Hyun-Woo's eyes stopped glowing, and just as they did, he heard the noise of police sirens outside the warehouse. Hyun-Woo sighed. He leaped onto some crates before leaping out a window. Right before landing on the ground, he rolled to cushion the fall. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.

As he walked toward the city and out of the port, he read his messages.

"From: Big Boss, Kang-Dae

Have you dealt with Tae-Hyun yet?"

"From: Sis

Jisoo told me you were off on a mission. Don't die. Love you."

"From: Idiot Jisoo

Don't die, bro. I still need you to be the best man at me and your sister's wedding!"

"From: My Amazing gf

Please don't die, love. I REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS NEW MOVIE WITH YOU!"

Hyun-Woo looked annoyed after seeing Jisoo's message, but he couldn't help himself from smiling after seeing his girlfriend's message. Suddenly, a drop of blood fell on the phone screen. Hyun-Woo put his phone away and placed his right hand over the spot where he was struck in the head. "This is perfect… if she sees me like this, she'll definitely baby me!" he said to himself excitedly.

Hyun-Woo eventually got into a black car parked not too far away from the port. He drove into the city.
