Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Just Another Day

A sunny day with a cool breeze.

A peaceful day, seagulls flying in the sky.

Though one seagull in particular felt a bit strained as it casually released itself.

It's business falling on an unfortunate individual washed up on shore.

"Pff-pff fuck!" a young man leaned forward as he rubbed his lips, "The fuck is this," he said as stared at his hands, "Shit! Did a bird just shit on me?"

He looked up in the sky, his eyes wince due to the bright sun?

'Wait? What the hell, why am I outside?'

He quickly stood up and looked around, ' a beach?'

'Is this a prank? But I don't have any friends.'

"Come on Dan, come on Dan, there's no way a company would drag me from my apartment, and dump me on a beach."

'I mean I still have my organs.'

Dan started to panic as he walked alongside the beach.

He dropped to his knees staring at sand, as a text box appears displaying the word sand.

Dan froze, 'what?'

He tried swiping the text box away, but hands simply passed through.

"Shit don't tell me I just isekai,"

"System activate."

….

….

..

Silence. Dan at the moment felt down, "Newbie gift? Starter pack?"

"Damn, where's my wish? My OP ability?"

Dan, hoping for a miracle, shouts "Shazam!"

"Inventory?"

A screen popped in front of him, a grey-white screen displaying squares, a portrait of someone, and a display of random items to the right side of the screen.

Dan quickly recognized the screen, "Isn't this just a minecraft inventory screen?"

"But most importantly when did I have Black Hair and black eyes?"

Dan walked to the sea watch as the sea receded and flowed back the figure staring at him was the exact figure in the inventory screen.

Dan paused, "I guess….. I really have died?"

Dan tried remembering the last thing he did but all remembers is staying in his room, playing modded minecraft.

"I mean at least I look better than what I looked like in my past life."

Quickly realizing that he had two items in his inventory, Dan clicked on the items, and dragged them into the hotbar.

Seeing nothing appear around him, Dan tried imagining the item appearing in his hand successfully making it appear.

It was a piece of paper, with random, green, yellow, and blue stripes on it. But as Dan scrutinized the piece of paper he swiped the surface of the paper while swatting away a fly.

Doing so caused the paint in the picture to move realizing this Dan swipe again moving the paint once move.

Then Dan used two fingers as if he were zooming in causing the map to zoom into the color revealing a detailed picture of beach and trees.

"Its a map but lets see it's not vanilla map as it can move, it's not atlas, don't tell me,"

Dan quickly double tapped on the map particularly the beach, a text box appeared

Name for Waypoint: _________

Dan quickly typed, "The Beginning" pressed enter then tapped on the waypoint, which prompted a textbox with the following options, Teleport, Edit, Disable, Remove.

Dan clicked teleport and quickly felt his vision blur as his surroundings changed.

"Hahahahaha, this is awesome." Dan, satisfied with what he found, put away the maps and took out the second item.

It was a pair of glasses no note or anything, "The fuck am I suppose to do with glasses?"

Dan shrugged as he put them on to see if they had a hidden function.

When he did he was met with a new screen with the options, reset, hide, and highlight.

Reset was obvious so Dan clicked hide which displayed a search bar, Dan scratched his head, 'maybe I gotta type it in.' Dan typed sand.

Once Dan hit enter all the sand around him disappeared, startling him causing him to jump yet he didn't fall all the way down.

He simply floated. Dan took off the glasses returning the sand back, Dan placed them back seeing a beach with no sand.

"Oh shit this is X-ray."

Dan placed the glasses back into his inventory as he walked up to a tree, Dan seeing the display saying palm tree, Dan sighed, a palm tree.

"Okay come on Dan, just punch it, you have a minecraft inventory surely you can punch a palm tree and break it."

After five minutes Dan finally gathered the courage to punch the palm tree in front of him causing a slight pain on his fist.

Dan pulled back his fist seeing his fist fine and seeing the tree cracking, he continued.

As Dan kept punching the tree it the trunk kept cracking more and more before it finally collapsed a small item of the chopped tree while the top of where it had been chopped fell over.

Once the tree fell it dispersed into a bunch of small items which Dan quickly grabbed.

Dan grinned, "It's like I'm in Minecraft VR but better graphics hahahahah."

Dan quickly put the trees into his inventory and turned them into planks and crafted a crafting table and placed it down.

Dan marbled at the crafting table as he quickly placed items into making a wooden shovel and a wooden pickaxe.

He marveled at the wooden pickaxe and shovel, it looked like a real life shovel or pickaxe that you could buy from the store except it's completely made out of wood.

'Illogical, but who cares."

He then pulled out the X-ray glasses and glanced around and hid dirt. Seeing stone being closer to a particular area he took off the glasses and made his way over.

Once he confirmed it was the spot Dan put away the glasses.

He quickly started shoveling the dirt, but there was no cracking the dirt, just manual labor.

"What the hell, I can punch a tree but I have to manually move dirt! Dan, frustrated, smacked the dirt causing it to crack."

"Fuck." Seeing the dirt crack just by smacking it with the shovel, Dan quickly starts smacking the ground.

"I can't believe that I gotta smack the ground with a shovel."

Once done the dirt broke into an even cube hole inside a small cubed piece of dirt could be seen.

Dan picked it up and tossed it outside the hole.

"The hole is too small. I should make it a two by two."

Dan quickly dug the two by two and once he was done the initial dirt piece he had thrown a bit away from the hole, exploded into a small mound of dirt.

Dan's eyes widened, "Oh shit, at least I didn't keep the dirt in the hole."

Dan kept digging the hole deeper and deeper until he reached stone, and started smacking it with his wooden pickaxe.

This time he kept the stone in his inventory. Once he got the blocks he needed he got out of the hole but just as he stepped out, one of the walls collapsed.

"Damn, I gotta be careful. It might feel like VR, but it's definitely real life, Damn I'm hungry."

Taking out the crafting table Dan crafted a Stone sword, axe, pickaxe and shovel.

Dan's hand glided against the sword's sharp edge, 'definitely sharp, but gotta test it first.'

Dan ventured into the forest, but found nothing, just birds.

Time passed and it was already noon, his stomach grumbling, Dan persisted, and finally found a rabbit.

Yet he failed to catch it but luckily the rabbit had led him to other rabbits that were munching on some berries.

Dan held a berry, "They could be poisonous to me, but at this point I'm hungry."

Dan patted his stomach, "Damn I'm still hungry but now that I think about it I'm not tired."

"I mean as long as Steve isn't running he could mine for days with just ten pieces of steak or bread."

Dan putting his theory to test pulled out the map, started mapping out the land while only walking.

As he walked he kept an eye as to how far the map generated and he could only guess that it map itself based on how far his eyes could see.

So far this land had a blend of jungle and forest, with a small river of fresh water coming from the middle of the land to the beach.

Which should be possibly he thought, but maybe it was like that near the equator, but why question it.

Luckily for Dan there were fresh water fish in the stream that he could try to catch later.

So far exploring half the land the only animals he had come across were rabbits, deers, birds, lizards, and a bunch of insects.

While in the jungle/forest the mapping on the map was small, but when mapping the beach the mapping spread really far to the sea.

The few big stones he saw were quickly broken down by him, and every other tree that seemed tall was quickly cut down by him.

Once it was nightfall Dan made his way back to the stream, as he sat down against a tree nearby.

Curious of the scene, of the mined dirt imploding after a certain time, Dan pulled a palm tree log and threw it a bit away from him.

After a while the palm tree log reverted back to its physical form.

'It didn't disperse probably because it's solid.' Dan tested with a piece of stone, but it ended up the same way.

Dan looked at the bright starry sky, beautiful was the only word he could use to describe this feeling.

As a person who simply lives in his home, ordering food from his app, staring at his monitor, having his every need fulfilled by the internet, he was lost.

'A new life on a land I don't know, damn, I guess I just gotta deal with it. It's just another day in my life."

With that Dan made himself comfortable, and went to sleep.
