I opened my eyes to the sound of the bell echoing through the room.
– Please... not again.
My body felt like it had been buried under concrete. My eyelids were heavy, like I'd cried for hours.
– I don't want to get up. Not today. Maybe never.
But that damned bell wouldn't stop.
My heart began to race. Sounds always triggered something in me.
– Too loud, too loud. It's clawing at my brain.
"Hey Vera… rough night again?" said ella.
Ella's voice was soft. She had knelt beside me.
I nodded lightly. –Yeah… and that bell really got to me.
I let out a small laugh. But beneath it was something else. Emptiness.
Is this sound real? Or am I still dreaming?
Ella sat at the edge of the bed.
–We need to get to class. We're going to be late. I said.
She shook her head slightly as she looked at me, but it was like her eyes were searching for something inside me.
I stood up, but my feet didn't seem to touch the ground.
– Is this me? Whose body is this?
I looked into the mirror, unwillingly.
There it was again...
But the silhouette in the mirror didn't feel like mine...
