Episode 40: The Moon Queen's Whisper
The golden Sigil pulsed in Juvia's hand like a heartbeat. It was warm—too warm—as if reacting to something unseen. The moment she touched it, a sharp wind howled through the underwater temple, though they were deep beneath the crimson lake.
Ha-jun stood alert, his eyes scanning the darkness behind the altar.
Then they heard it.
A voice.
Soft. Feminine. Cold as the void between stars.
> "You carry my heart… my name… my fate."
Juvia gasped, gripping the Sigil tightly. The golden glow had turned silver, and the light stretched out of her hand—wrapping around her like a thread of fate. Ha-jun moved to her side, but he couldn't break through the barrier forming around her.
> "Daughter of the Moonlight… bearer of blood unbroken… my time draws near."
The voice was coming from within her mind, her soul. And as it spoke, flashes flooded her thoughts—memories that weren't hers.
A palace carved from stardust.
A queen draped in lunar silk.
A baby girl with moonlight eyes…
And a rebellion.
Flames. Screams. Betrayal.
The queen falling from the sky, her crown breaking into five pieces.
And a whisper:
> "Reborn… through the chosen… through her blood."
Juvia screamed, falling to her knees.
"Juvia!" Ha-jun shouted, finally slicing through the light barrier. He caught her just before she collapsed.
She looked up at him, tears streaming down her cheeks. "It's me, Ha-jun. I'm not just part of the prophecy. I am the vessel."
"What are you saying?" he asked gently, though fear laced his voice.
She held up the Sigil. "The Moon Queen is inside me."
Before they could process what that meant, the temple began to shake.
Cracks split the floor. The drowned spirits around them screamed in agony as golden veins of light broke through the stone.
"The temple is collapsing!" Ha-jun yelled. "We need to get out!"
He picked her up and rushed toward the exit, dodging falling debris. The crimson water swirled violently around them as they surfaced, gasping for air.
Behind them, the lake churned—and then exploded in a pillar of golden light that shot straight into the sky.
Animals in the forest scattered. The moon flickered. Somewhere in the distance, a bell tolled—a sound only those tied to the Moon Queen could hear.
The second Sigil was claimed.
But it had awakened something far more dangerous.
As they stumbled to shore, soaked and shaking, Juvia turned to Ha-jun.
"There are three more," she said. "But I can feel her now. Her memories… her voice… it's getting stronger."
Ha-jun stared at her. "What if she takes over?"
Juvia's hand curled into a fist. "Then we stop her. Even if it means stopping me."
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows of the forest. Tall, armored, and cloaked in raven feathers.
Lysian.
But this time, he wasn't smiling.
"You weren't supposed to take the second Sigil yet," he said coldly. "Now you've woken them."
"Who?" Ha-jun asked, drawing his blade.
Lysian's eyes gleamed.
> "The Five Lunar Sentinels. Guardians of the Queen's soul.
They will come for the vessel.
And they do not show mercy."
