"Sorry sir I couldn't find the person, if only you could provide a current description of her and maybe the full name, that would have been helpful" Charles said looking disappointed in himself, wondering how long Kai will keep on searching for a girl that might be dead by now.
"I have told you everything I know and can remember about her, there's nothing else I can give and I gave a perfect description of her face" Kai said looking into the window
"That's a description of a ten year old girl, it's been fifteen years since then, her face has probably changed, who knows, she might even be dead" Charles said with a clear intention but before he could react Kai was choking him, he held his neck tight and whispered "you just have to do what you are told to do not give your own opinions and Robin isn't dead, she can't be dead, she just can't" Kai said the last sentence with immense coldness, Charles hadn't seen Kai like this before and hence, he raised his hands in surrender, Kai loosen up his grip on him, he looked at his old friend who had always been with him through out the years and finally regretted what he did.
"Sorry Charles, you know how I get when it's about Robin, I'm just too angry at myself and everyone, if only I had said something, maybe she would have been with me, maybe she wouldn't have been missing with me searching for her each and everyday, maybe she would be mine to keep" Kai expressed with his eyes looking distance as if he's in his own world
"It's alright buddy, I got you but Kai, you always speak about Robin, how did you two actually meet, I mean you always tell me how you wronged her but how did you two become close" Charles said wanting to satisfy his curiosity, he walked over to the sofa, he knew how Kai was crazy about this girl and ever since he came to the States there wasn't a day that went by that he wouldn't talk about Robin, and after he had taken over the company in the States he's been using his power and everything to find the lady in question.
Kai smiled when Charles asked the question, he turned from the window quite slowly and joined his friend in the sofa, he looked lost but had a sad smile on his face as he said...
Winter (Twenty years ago)
Kai's POV
It was in the last weeks of winter, I had just come back from piano lessons and I was really hungry, I dropped my things in my room and left for the kitchen, on entering I saw this smallish girl in the wardrobe of our kitchen, she was inside eating a big jar of chocolate ice cream, which most if the ice cream was stuck in her red hair and on her face, I was surprised because we didn't have a servant or maid working around and hence I thought she sneaked in.
"Get out of there" I said not sure if she would listen to me or not but she did, she give out quietly and looking a bit guilty, I decided to question her, "how did you get here? where are you from?"
"My mom told me to wait for her, and I'm from New York" she said with a tilted head looking at the ice cream, I was shocked did my mom adopt another child again or what was she talking about. It didn't take long for her mom to come, I was later introduced to them, they were going to help with the household chores. Robin was her name and as curious as I was, I started following her around in the mansion. I asked her lots of questions for why move from New York to Chicago, and a whole lot.
Before I realized we were always talking everyday, and she was fun to go out with, although sometimes she was really rude and sometimes really sweet and sometimes she would cry, she was the best thing that happened and as we grew our friendship grew too and before something more, I was going to tell her I love her when she got to fifteen but I never got the chance and now maybe I never will...
Charles felt he might have touched the deepest part of Kai for he hadn't seen Kai this vanurable, "I will do everything I can to find her, I will" Charles said and left the place. Kai was still sitting when he got a call from his mother, he had been ignoring his mother ever since he was sent overseas, and as for Ivy, he completely cut her off after what happened, he decided to pick the call.
"Hello" he said
"Kai you have to come home"
"What if I don't want to, I know you can't force me and currently I'm running business here just fine"
"But your dad wants you back in Chicago, Kai, I know you are still upset at me for what happened but son you can't live overseas your whole life, one day or the other you will have to come and when that happens you have to face reality, face me and talk to your sister"
"Did dad tell you to call or was it Ivy who convinced you to call?" Kai asked knowing the answer already, he didn't wait for a reply and he hanged up the call, he went into his big bedroom and walked into his walk-in closet, he put on a blue black classic wool with a double breasted featured suit, he put on a Brunello Cucinelli shoes, he looked smart, he pushed his black-chocolate hair backwards, he was ready for the meeting.
He got to his office quite early but he didn't like what had happened, his dad had called in and his position as CEO has been taken away from him. The message his father left was that he is to come back home, he went back to his flat feeling not so good as he went out, he had no other choice but to book the flight home.
