Chapter 11 - Purpleguy IV

— What are you doing here? Adam asked me as he began to recover a bit.

— I came to see for myself what's happening here—especially what happened to my people.

— Why did you save me?

— You're one of the best soldiers I've ever known.

— Oh, so the lives of my comrades didn't matter, but when it came to me, bam—I became the favorite. As far as I'm concerned, you could've let me join the others.

— I came as quickly as I could when I realized you were in far more danger than we'd anticipated. You have my sincerest apologies.

—…

— I recommend you stay here for now until the backup crew arrives. They'll take you and get your wounds treated as fast as possible.

He let go of me and stood on his own.

— If you think I'm going to abandon my people without revenge, and let that purple bastard walk away unpunished, you're dead wrong!

— That's an order!

— After your orders got four soldiers killed in this mission, now you want to use another one to save the last man hanging by a thread, trying not to fall? Pathetic.

— You know what I should do for insubordination?

— Please. I couldn't care less. Do it! Kill me!

— Good… If u are willing to go that far for your comrades. I will let u fight! I said, handing him my P90 and the mercury bullet cartridges.

— Thank you.

I looked at his face. It was full of disgust and hatred… and a hint of confusion. He pulled out another syringe from behind his back. He looked at it, then put it back.

— Behind that big door is the testing zone—the place where Ken gave birth to all these biological weapons. I said.

— Open it.

On the other side was a massive space, and at the far end, a windowed office. Ken's office. We had entered from the back. Then I saw a figure standing with his back to us. A man in a suit. Purple…

— PURPLEGUY! Adam shouted.

The man slowly turned and looked in our direction.

— Adam and...

— …The Boss.

— What an honor. Adam, I'm sorry you couldn't join your teammates.

Adam stepped forward and opened fire. But he only fired a few rounds—Purpleguy blocked them all with a blade made of obsidian. But it was just a distraction. Because of his mocking attitude, he didn't take Adam seriously, and that gave Adam an opening to strike. But the blade moved on its own and slashed his thigh. Adam stepped on the blade with his other foot and struck him, disorienting him.

— Seems I underestimated you, Adam. A shame. He said as he backed away and turned his back to us again.

Adam ran after him, but suddenly several beasts leapt from their hiding spots. I shot them with my pistol.

— Adam, go after Purpleguy! I'll take care of these bastards!

He nodded and ran toward the office's back entrance to pursue Purpleguy. Two beasts followed him, but before they could go far, massive ice spikes burst from the ground and impaled them, leaving their bodies limp and dead. The spikes formed a barrier, blocking any beasts from chasing Adam.

I lifted my right leg. It had frozen slightly in place from using my Dragonarm to create the barrier. A beast jumped to attack me—I incinerated it with the other ability of the Dragonarm: "Freeze & Burn." I removed my helmet, letting my long white hair fall behind me. I also took off my bulletproof vest because it limited my movement. The same scorched beast jumped again to attack me. I launched myself into the air with elegance and touched the creature with my finger, freezing it in a split second. I landed back on the ground. More beasts. A flaming kick followed by a combo with my frozen leg—another beast frozen. Two others came at me with blades. I ducked—one froze, the other burned with a single touch. They collapsed. I jumped back to my feet.

Then I looked at the office window. I could see only Purpleguy inside.

Suddenly, a beast stabbed me from behind, then another from the front, piercing my intestines—and possibly my liver and stomach. I felt like throwing up blood. I looked at the window. I saw Adam defeated, sitting on the floor, possibly speaking with Purpleguy. I looked at the beast's ugly face.

— Disgusting.

I couldn't believe the situation I was in. Pathetic. I was going to… I couldn't… I couldn't let him die in front of me. I used the Dragonarm and forged two swords. I slashed the beasts. Then came the rest—I cut, burned, and froze everything in my path. Only after killing all of them did my wounds fully regenerate.

Reinforcements arrived behind me.

— This way! I told them.

I entered the office. It was a mess. Adam was slumped over Ken's body. He moved aside and sat up. He had been shot in the same leg Purpleguy had slashed.

— He was shot. It's not vital, but I gave him the syringe. He told me.

— Bring in two stretchers! I shouted.

The crew put Ken on the first stretcher, then came for Adam.

— Coloepy, Purpleguy stole the virus branch Adam added as he was placed on the stretcher.

-Hamura Coloepy.

"Some hours later, in a unknown location"

I entered the room. I walked behind Miss Emma's desk and said:"

— Guess who?

— Purpy.

— Bravo! I said, wrapping my arms around her from behind.

She kissed me gently, then looked at me. I stepped back slightly and placed the peptide case with the virus on the desk. She opened it and inspected it.

— Purpy, this is the key that starts our plan.

— Let me guess—now comes phase two.

— Exactly.

She turned the laptop around, and I was shocked to see a face I never thought I'd see again.

— Andreas Shinja.

-Purpleguy.
