The Novelist System: Writing Story From Memory

Chapter 2: They Call Him Straw Hat Luffy

«-------------------------------------------»

Morning light filtered into Arlen's small room as the city outside buzzed with the dull rhythm of weekday life. Honks, street vendors shouting half-heartedly, and the occasional screech of worn-out motorbike brakes—this world was normal. Too normal.

But today, Arlen wasn't just another face in the crowd.

He was a novelist now.

A silent smile formed on his lips as he refreshed the page on StarNovel. It had only been a few hours since he uploaded the first chapter of One Piece, but curiosity was stronger than patience.

"Better than zero," he muttered, chuckling.

It was a slow start, but for a completely unknown author with no background and no promotions, it was something. Even if that one like was just someone clicking by mistake… it still counted.

He opened the system interface again. The floating screen glowed with a soft cyan hue, as if it were in a good mood today.

[Good morning, Host. Ready to continue?]

"Yes," he replied without hesitation.

As if on cue, a new window opened beside the system. Lines of text began forming rapidly—as though someone invisible was typing at lightning speed, using only Arlen's memories as source material.

It was surreal.

Watching One Piece be written in front of him, not as manga, not as anime, but as a proper novel… felt like watching a dream carve itself into reality.

The system paused at the end of the chapter.

[Word Count: 2,614]

[Would you like to edit or upload as is?]

Arlen skimmed the text. It was nearly perfect. Descriptive, immersive, and faithful to the story. The system even managed to convert fight scenes into narrative prose—detailed, energetic, full of momentum.

"No edits. Upload it."

He clicked the button.

[Uploading Chapter 2…]

[Upload complete.]

He leaned back in his chair and looked at the now two-chaptered book sitting quietly in the "Newly Updated" section of the platform.

And then, like a delayed reaction, the view count on the first chapter jumped.

Then the first comment appeared.

[Reader789]: "What kind of story is this? Pirate King?? This is different from anything I've read lately… I like it."

Arlen's heart thumped.

Then another.

[SilentButterfly]: "Gold Roger… what an intro. That last line gave me chills. Is this based on something?"

He chuckled. "Yeah… it's based on a world that doesn't exist here."

But instead of replying, he let it be. He didn't want to break the illusion. Let them read. Let the world of One Piece reveal itself slowly, naturally, the way it did for him so many years ago.

The system chimed again.

His screen shifted. Now he could see which paragraphs readers lingered on, which lines they highlighted, where readers dropped off. It was data he never knew he needed—but suddenly, he couldn't stop analyzing.

Apparently, the "Wealth. Fame. Power." line had a high pause rate. People stopped there. Reread it. Highlighted it.

That gave him a strange sense of satisfaction.

He grabbed a quick bite—instant noodles, because some things are universal in all worlds—and sat back down, eyes burning with motivation.

"I need to prepare the next arc," he murmured. "Time to introduce Zoro."

The system answered promptly.

But before writing, Arlen navigated to the forums on StarNovel. He wanted to see if anyone was talking about One Piece.

There wasn't a dedicated thread yet—but in the "New Books" section, someone had posted:

[Thread: A Pirate Adventure Novel That's Actually… Good?]

I usually avoid anything non-romance, but this "One Piece" novel feels so fresh. The MC hasn't even appeared properly yet, but I'm already hooked. Who is this author??

Arlen smirked.

"Mr.Midnight_21," he whispered under his breath, repeating the pen name he had randomly selected while half-asleep.

That line hit him.

He didn't know who wrote it. Some faceless username in a sea of voices. But those words made it real.

He wasn't just uploading nostalgia.

He was reviving it.

Giving this world a second chance at stories that mattered.

He sat back down, eyes bright with determination. Luffy hadn't even arrived yet. The real story hadn't even begun. The Grand Line, Devil Fruits, Marines, the World Government… all of it was still locked in his memory, waiting to be rewritten.

Waiting to live again.

He cracked his knuckles, looked at the system, and whispered,

"Let's sail."
