Chapter 4 - Dystopia 4: Rising Dragon

It was a windy day, so Naheeno decided to take a stroll through Archived Dystopia. The wind brushed past the tall buildings as Naheeno ventured further.

He glanced at a few kids who were playing soccer, before continuing to walk further.

"What a peaceful day… It fits my vibe nicely…" He suddenly paused as he felt something coming from… An alleyway?

"...This feeling… Maybe there's something epic down here." He walked into the alleyway, wondering what he could be sensing.

BAM! "You stupid thieves have nothing better to do with your lives do you?!" A man shouted while clenching his fist.

"W-We won't do it again! P-Please spare us, Rising Dragon, Ryūji…!"

He scoffed. "You're lucky I am a nice person, however the police won't be as nice you know…" Ryūji grinned.

Ryūji paused as he heard Naheeno from behind. "Hey, what are you doing in a dark alleyway? You aren't like these idiots are you?"

"N-No… I'm just a chill guy… I felt something coming from this alleyway though so I decided to check it out."

Ryūji's eyes widened. "Oh! You must have felt my resonant ability then, did you not?"

Naheeno blinked in confusion. "...Resonant?"

"...You don't know what Resonants are? They teach that kind of stuff in Kuroshi High, you know…" He shrugged.

"Oh… I am already educated due to… Some circumstances, so I don't attend school…" Naheeno explained.

Ryūji shook his head. "I see… Well, Resonants are special abilities that let us humans connect to beings that are WAY more powerful than us. Though, I've heard some other races have also learned how to use Resonant…"

"Observe. Rising Punch…!" He punched the air in a quick motion, the impact caused the wind to shift upwards.

Naheeno's eyes widened. "My Resonant, lets me use the powers of a dragon, it even lets me become one myself if I wanted to…" Ryūji explained.

"I see… So, you've been using that ability to protect the innocent in Archived Dystopia?" Naheeno asked as he realized his sunglasses were probably some kind of Resonant.

"Yep! I've probably saved around fifty people's lives this past month alone. I think I do a pretty good job of cleaning up this city, doing things the police can't do." He laughed before glancing at the thieves.

"What's your name? Mine is Nishimura Ryūji." He asked.

"Naheeno…"

"Naheeno, could you call the police so these guys can go into custody? I'd do it myself, but there's been times where they've tried to escape when I go to call the police…" Naheeno nodded and went to a telephone to call the police, moments later the thieves were taken to Archived Dystopia's jail.

"Thanks man, I should really keep a smartphone on me while doing this…"

"No problem… As long as it doesn't cause any kind of risk for my sunglasses."

Ryūji narrowed his eyes slightly in confusion. "Your sunglasses? What's special about those pair of shades?"

"...Oh. Uh, basically if I take these sunglasses off, or they get destroyed. The world ends."

Ryūji's eyes widened in shock, his mouth dropped. "...Well THAT'S definitely a reason to be concerned… I've never heard of a Resonant being capable of ending the world before though…"

"I don't exactly know if it's a resonant, however it's something to be concerned about, yeah."

Ryūji sighed. "Oh well… I'll see you later, Naheeno. I still have a few things I have to do today." He waved as he left the alleyway.

"Huh… Well, I guess I will go play rhythm games at home, which sounds epic to me." Naheeno left the alleyway and went back home.

Meanwhile… Bmon, Akuma and Haruki had decided to visit Itsuki's house, his house was covered in greenery, so much so that it felt like a greenhouse. "...Wow. That's a LOT of plants."

"Y-You think so…? I like taking care of plants… So I decided to turn my house into a makeshift greenhouse." He smiled.

"R-Right…" Bmon glanced at Akuma and Haruki. "That reminds me… Akuma, you're a demon right? Do you live in Archived Dystopia like the rest of us?" He questioned.

Akuma stared at him for a moment. "...Bmon, I live in hell."

"A-Akuma, surely you don't mean you ACTUALLY live in hell right?" Haruki hesitantly laughed.

"...Follow me." They shook their heads in agreement and followed Akuma to the center of Archived Dystopia, Bmon glanced down and noticed something.

"...Akuma I've lived in this city for my entire life, I was even born here. W-When did that hole get there?!" He pointed at a GIGANTIC hole in the center.

"I usually hide it, so that no one ever sees it, I just come out whenever no one is looking…" Akuma explained.

"...So you ACTUALLY live in hell?" Haruki asked.

"...Yes, I don't know why that's surprising to you two, next you're gonna tell me you didn't know Tsubasa lived in Heaven."

Bmon and Haruki stared at Akuma. "...S-Seriously? You didn't put two and two together?" He seemed caught slightly off guard.

Akuma thought for a brief moment. "Hey, do you three want to go visit the demon lord?"

Their eyes widened. "You… Want US to… Visit the demon lord?" Itsuki questioned skeptically.

"Sure. It should be fine, provided she hasn't run out of funds…" He shrugged. "F-Funds?"

"Nevermind that… Hey Bmon, your ability lets you travel places right?"

"Yeah… I can even use it without furniture, it just makes me kind-of exhausted afterwards." He explained.

"Then… You take us down there. Otherwise we'd have to climb all the way down and that would take an entire day, and possibly result in broken legs."

Bmon shivered. "F-Fine…" He grabbed their hands before opening a portal to the archive under them as they fell through.

Now inside the archive, Akuma had a thought. "Yo, how come we have to hold your hand when you use that? Can't you just open a portal under us?"

"...Do you wanna be lost in this infinitely expanding space for weeks if not months?"

"N-No?" Akuma raised a brow in confusion.

"Then I suggest you don't do that. If you don't have direct contact or even indirect contact, you'll be randomly teleported inside the archive."

Akuma's eyes widened. "Point taken." They made their way to a door with a note on the door that said "Hell".

"Looks like this is it. Don't know how I never noticed this door before… Granted it looks like every other door in here…" Bmon laughed slightly.

"...Shut up and go in, Bmon." Bmon stared at him in annoyance before walking through the door.
