That was the solution that Kayn had come up with, and he committed to proving his solution worked.
Without seeing the result of his handiwork, Kayn continued hacking and slashing at the ice spears that had started moving once more.
The ice demon had realized what Kayn was trying to do and scattered his ice spears once more.
The ice spears moved incredibly fast. Kayn was still able to follow their movement, but he wouldn't be able to react properly when there were tens of them constantly flying around him.
Hence why Kayn created the ice armor.
Ignoring the ice spears that he couldn't dodge or destroy in time, Kayn let the ice spears stab themselves into his full body armor that even covered his wings.
The thick armor of ice was actually heavy enough that he couldn't fly anymore, even with his self-enhancing spell, but Kayn didn't want to fly now.
The spears just came towards him on their own, and Kayn kept breaking them apart using the ice claws that at least had the same solidity as the rigid ice spears.
And every time the ice claws were chipped, Kayn just used the spell once more to repair the damage.
Kayn's assault was unstoppable as the ice spears were powerless against his claws and his thick ice armor.
When Kayn noticed that the ice spears had dwindled enough, he suddenly turned towards the ice demon's direction and made his way there.
Seeing Kayn's intention, the ice demon became more desperate as the remaining ice spears began grouping up with each other to make the control easier, and they just attacked Kayn without any coordination, unlike before.
Which had actually made Kayn's job easier as he used all four of his claws to deal with the grouped up ice spears and destroyed several of them in one go.
Kayn didn't stop his feet as he kept getting closer and closer towards the ice demon.
When there were only a couple of ice spears remaining, the ice demon even released his control of the ice spear vengeance spell completely and desperately cast another spell to try and stop Kayn, who was currently only about 7 meters away from him.
"Ice Prison."
Seeing the runes being manifested, Kayn deactivated his ice armor to make his body lighter and jumped forward, spreading his wings to fly straight towards the ice demon while being out of the ice prison's range.
As a last-ditch effort, the ice demon summoned a pillar from below his feet and tried to propel himself upward, away from Kayn's reach, even just for a second.
But Kayn was faster.
When the ice pillar was just starting to rise from the ground, Kayn slashed his claws multiple times, destroying the rising pillar before it could take the ice demon up.
The ice demon soon fell to the ground. With the distance between himself and the ice demon, which was about an arm's length, Kayn was confident that the ice demon wouldn't be able to do anything anymore.
His claws would be much faster than any spells that the ice demon could cast. The second Kayn saw any runes, his claws would have long beheaded the ice demon.
"That was a very nice fight. Thanks to you, I could come up with spells that I didn't even think of before.
But I don't want to do that anymore anytime soon, so, any last words?"
Kayn just stared at the ice demon, his eyes never stopped scanning the ice demon's whole movement, and preparing himself to make the first move just in case anything happened.
When the ice demon stayed silent, Kayn didn't say anything else and raised his claws, ready to finish the unnecessarily long fight against the ice demon.
But he stopped his movement when he finally heard the words coming out of the ice demon's mouth.
"You are a peculiar demon. You didn't feel like a demon somehow. But I admit my defeat."
The ice demon stared back at Kayn's eyes as he said those words, not even cursing him or trying to make any move.
"Umm… Thanks? I guess you're not really like a demon yourself. You're the calmest and the strongest demon I've encountered so far."
The ice demon smiled when he heard Kayn's words and decided to speak more.
"Assuming you're going this way, you will be entering the Tower, correct?"
"Yup!" Kayn didn't mind speaking this much to an enemy that had defeated him before.
"Just be careful on your way to the next region, there is an enemy that even someone like us could not defeat easily.
I hope you succeed in making it to the second level, I will love to do a rematch when we're both stronger."
Kayn tilted his head.
"I have defeated you even after being defeated once. I will definitely find a way to defeat them, even if they are a very strong enemy." Kayn replied nonchalantly before he finally realized the last words that the ice demon said,
"What do you mean by a rematch? I will take your life here!"
But the ice demon didn't say anything and just kept smiling and said, "See you later!"
Unknown to Kayn, the ice demon's hands, which were pressed against the snowy ground the whole time, had formed runes, runes that didn't emit any mana that Kayn couldn't detect.
When Kayn heard the ice demon's words, he quickly slashed his two arms towards the ice demon.
But before they could reach the ice demon, a burst of snow exploded from the ground beneath the ice demon's body, sending Kayn flying and away from the ice demon.
Kayn quickly used his tail and wings to adjust his body mid-air and flew back to the ice demon's spot.
But when he got there, he found nothing.
The ice demon was just gone, disappearing from existence.
Kayn tried to find any traces, but he couldn't find any.
Heck, he couldn't even smell the presence of soul anywhere.
"That fucker…How can anyone just disappear like this? After all that hard work! This fucker is just really full of cheats! His spells didn't make sense before, and he could actually just disappear like this? Who the hell taught him all these spells!?"
Kayn tried circling the area once more, using all his senses as best as they could to find the trace of the ice demon.
But he still found nothing.
After spending about a whole hour and finding nothing, Kayn finally decided to unwillingly give up.
"This will be the last damn time I'm talking to someone I've decided to kill…" He grumbled as he began walking towards the border of the Earth Elemental region.
"That strong enemy that even the ice demon recognized… I wonder what kind of demon it is…"
As Kayn flew away and left the area, a certain demon, one that was buried deep within the snow, thought to herself
'What a persistent little demon boy, spending that much time searching for me… Unfortunately for him, he was still too young to be able to do that…'
Her current body was completely frozen, not even her heart was beating and pumping mana into her body.
In her current state, there was almost no difference between her and an ice statue. Even her soul was half-frozen. She couldn't move a single finger and could only speak in her mind.
The ice demon smiled to herself as he recalled Kayn cursing for minutes nonstop as he searched for her.
'He really was something else, not even having a fully saturated body, and won against me…
'But the little demon boy would have a hard time. He would be facing that lunatic….
I really hope he succeeds, though, it's already been such a long time since I was stuck in this realm…'
