Chapter 1 - Dejavu

No matter how far you run. I Will find you again...."

- sin -

The first thing that comes to my mind right now, is how lucky I am. That the towering Marina apartment building challenges the sky. The glass reflects sunlight smoothly and cleanly. Not like what I had imagined. When the price offered was that cheap.

I thought I would find an ugly and dirty apartment. In fact, it was as good as this. Indeed when renting one of the flats. I only used online media without visiting or finding out first.

Suddenly transferred by the company because an employee resigned dishonorably Made me have to replace his current position right now. In a place far away in this small town.

I took a deep breath as I dragged a light suitcase containing all my possession - if you could call it that - which contained only a few sets of clothes and personal hygiene supplies.

I'm not as you think, poor. No, I am enough for a single person.

" Are you Loki...?"

A middle-aged woman in a rainbow-colored house dress greeted me while helping to open the front door. Maybe she had been waiting for me and thought the large brown suitcase wae heavy.

I nodded and smiled in answer.

" Come on, let me take you there."

The fat hand tried to help me carry the suitcase before I politely refused by carrying it myself.

" With Mrs.....?" I asked.

" Ohh.. my Gosh, I forget to introduce myself. Just call Madam Marry. I am very happy because it has a long time since anyone rented flat number 20." Madam Marry slapped her forehead while chuckling happily.

" Ah...." I answered simply without wanting to know the continuation of Madam Marry's chatter. I have always not interested in people who talk a lot.

" Come here, the elevator has been damaged for a long time." The woman chuckled again without shame. She directed me to the hallway on the right.

" Because the repair cost is very expensive, so it hasn't been repaired, understandably..., the rental price here is also very cheap." I nodded counting the number of missing teeth in Madam Marry's open mouth.

" Here the stairs of your room are located on the 3rd floor." The middle-aged woman pointed her hand towards the old stairs in front of us.

My while body froze instantly, my steps stopped and my lips whispered spontaneously "number of steps fifty-seven.... fifty-seven..... fifty-seven... "

" Haa.... whaaa..t? " Madam Marry's voice was heard faintly.

My gaze fell on the wooden floor that had been blackened by time, cracks on the fifth step and the dull yellowish poster about the daily catering, managed by building owner on the left wall.

All the hair on my neck stood up and my breath was choked. Familiar feelings filled my mind. pulling my body into the realm of shadow ; laughter, anger, crying suddenly my sense caught it all.

" Loki... Loki.. ? A strong shake on my shoulder brings me back to the reality. I took a deep breath and coughed hard.

" Heyy... Loki..., Are. you alright? oh my Gosh, what's wrong with you?"

Madam Marry patted my back as hard as all her might, until it almost made me squirt blood, she intended to help or kill me?

" Enough is enough ma'am" I said with difficulty while pushing away her fat hand.

" Want to rest first, you seem tired." Madam Marry's forehead furrowed deeply looking very worried.

" Never mind, I' ll rest in my room only. let's move on." I asked without waiting for an answer.

I immediately stepped up the stairs, the creak of the wooden stairs making my head spin at this time. really dizzy...

what's wrong with me? obviously, my body condition is very good before entering the Marina apartment.

" Are you really okayy? should I make a ginger tea? The woman with a high bun gripped my arm tightly, intending to support my body weight.

I shook my head, weakly enough to be disturbed by she friendly gesture. Every step I took made my heart beat faster. I silently and count the number of my steps.

fifty-seven, exactly. not less or more, how could it be that? The first time a twenty three year old young man named Loki Fuller is peddling his feet in this apartment. How could he know the exactly number of stairs?

This is crazy...

"This is your room." Madam Marry guiding me while my mind is speculating.

Once again, memories of who knows what hit me hard.

"There's a chair outside this room. right a cross the door. Where's that chair?" My head reflexively started at the fat woman.

I don't know what Madam Marry saw in this expression, but it was clearly not a feeling of awe or happiness, but rather horror. Her eyes were wide and her lips were open and closed like a fish looking for air on land.

" It had moved before" Madam Marry answered softly.

there was a momentary pause before she continued.

" Has you ever lived here before? "

" No.." I answered firmly.

" This is the first time.... first time..... first time.... first time...."

My mind has shouted that sentence many Times. But why does everything seem familiar.

" So..., do you have a sixth sense? can you see invisible creatures?" She asked fearfully.

I almost burst out laughing at this woman's thoughts. But a moment later I fell silent thought it makes sense, alright. If it weren't for that, then where did all these memories come from.

" Was there a strange incident in this place before? " I asked curiously. Madam Marry was startled and laughed nervously.

" Who said that? No one, I feel strange, you seem to already know how this place before."

" This is your key, if you want to order catering you can contact the number listed on the stairs. Usually, bachelors don't cook, right? I 'll leave for now." In a flash Madam Marry put the key in my hand and left in a hurry.

I took a deep breath, squinted for a moment before inserting the key and prepared for the worst. My eyes scanned the room; single bed, one- door wooden wardrobe, beside it a small table attached to the wall. television with a bracket as a support. A very very mini kitchen set measuring 200 cm and a glass door with curtains opened, showing a round balcony.

Like a magnetic force with different poles, my feet stepped closser to the balcony. Without being commanded by my brain. There I was silent, standing straight in a rather awkward position. Hypnotized by the movement of the trees out there. Swaying left and right. with the gentle morning breeze.

I realized that my thin fingers were shaking quite a bit when I slowly opened the glass door. As if knew what I would face next.

The wind blew as the door slid to the side, taking its turn to tousle my dark hair. No matter how much I wanted to step forward this time, my two feet were stuck, unable to move as if my shadow was gripping them tightly.

Then something wet touched my cheek and flowed down until it touched my chin and fell to the floor. starting as one drop and continuing into dozens of wet drops.

I thought the roof was leaking. But I was wrong, it wasn't the roof that was leaking. No...,

But I, my eyes are crying right now.

why...?
