Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 – Smoke in the Circuit

Part 1 – Aegis Protocol Unleashed

It began with a flicker.

The lights in Wolfe Industries' Zurich command center blinked once. Then again. Cipher frowned at his console. "That's not power fluctuation. That's intentional code injection."

Before anyone could react, every monitor turned to static then a single phrase lit up in red:Aegis Protocol Activated. Neutralizing Targeted Assets.

Sirens blared as the building's internal defense systems flipped. Doors locked. Automated drones spun toward friendly tags.

Alexander, watching from a secure uplink at the alpine estate, stood instantly. "They've hijacked our infrastructure."

Valkyrie's voice snapped through the comms. "All AI subsystems are executing Julian's version of our defense logic. He's turned Wolfe's empire against itself."

Liana clenched her fists. "We need to shut it down. From inside."

Alexander's face darkened.

"Which means someone gave him the access."

Part 2 – The Judas Among Them

They found the breach trail traced through a secure node only accessible by two people: Cipher and Nyra Alexander's long-trusted intelligence analyst.

When confronted, Nyra's voice cracked. "I didn't mean to betray anyone. Julian found my brother. Said if I didn't give him a path into the system, he'd make him disappear."

Alexander didn't raise his voice. That was what made it worse.

"You didn't just give him a key," he said. "You gave him a map to everything we've built."

Nyra's eyes filled with tears. "I'm sorry."

"You're not sorry yet," Valkyrie muttered.

Liana stepped forward. "Wait. We can still use this. If Nyra gave him a tunnel in we might be able to plant a virus that rides the same path back."

Cipher's fingers flew across his tablet. "A ghost trace virus. High risk. High reward. We might lose the entire Zurich base in the process."

Alexander met Liana's gaze.

"Let it burn," he said coldly. "So long as he burns with it."

Part 3 – Backup Strike: The Wolf's Ghost

That night, while Wolfe Zurich went into full collapse, Alexander's backup team known only as "The Ghost Division" went active.

Cipher deployed the virus silent, elegant, and absolutely lethal to digital systems. It infiltrated Julian's mirrored network through the tunnel Nyra had exposed, planting itself beneath his own firewalls.

At the same time, physical strikes hit his secondary research hubs one in Lagos, another in Taipei. Unmarked vans. No survivors. No footage.

And then, quietly, as Julian prepared to launch a public security statement discrediting Liana once more, his entire media architecture crashed. Emails, footage, surveillance gone. Replaced by a black screen and a single sigil:

🐺 The Wolf Bites Back

Across encrypted channels, whispers began circulating:

"Julian Wolfe's systems compromised."

"Unknown operatives taking down assets."

"Liana Reyes is protected by a ghost."

In the estate, Alexander stared out into the forest, his voice low.

"He wanted to own the world's truth. Let's show him what happens when the truth fights back."

Liana came up behind him, sliding her arms around his waist. "And when the wolf has a queen?"

Alexander smiled without warmth.

"Then the war becomes a story worth remembering."
