Chapter 10 - 9. What the future holds V

We also built a boat and a cart. Since there was no craftsman in my khalasar, I had to satisfy myself with a giant raft and wheels that are not completely round.

Finally after spending an entire week, our preparation was completed.

What the future holds V

To end the curse of the old Valyria, I will have to destroy the cursed heart of a Dragon who lives in one of the volcanoes surrounding the central Island in the valyrian peninsula. But to do that I will have to reach the Central Tower, a structure in the central island of the valyrian peninsula. To do that I will need the sword named Drago Nova. And I will face 3 main obstacles in my endeavour which are the scarlet rot worm. Raptors and petrification butterflies. These are the information that I received from the voice about my task to end the curse of the old Valyria.

Everything in between these things will have to be figured out by myself.

(Dothraki language)

"The lake water is extremely corrosive. But these trees can withstand that corrosion. You fall, you die. You won't die immediately but even if someone saves you, you will die eventually due to famine and other diseases. A dead body turns into nothing but bones in just 5 days. Think what will happen to you if you take a dip in that ?" I told everyone as I pointed towards the lake.

Everyone on the main operation team was listening to my words with all of their attention.

"These rafts can't carry a lot of weight. So only two warriors will go on this raft at one time and one will come back. All of you can see that skeleton of the Dragon in the middle of the small Island between the cursed lake. Those who will be chosen, will go to that small Island and try to bring back a piece of that dragon bone. But you will have to be careful about not taking too much. Otherwise that raft will drown. Do you guys understand ?" I asked them.

"Yes khaleesi." After receiving their answer I continued-

"In the first team, Aggo and Ser Jorah will go on this raft. If you feel unwell or feel anything wrong with the air, then immediately signal us with your hands like this. Try to hold your breath as long as you can and only breathe from this container." I explained to Aggo before explaining it to Jorah in common language.

I didn't want to lose valuable men. It was the main reason why I had taken my own sweet time to make sure that they complete the operation with minimal risk. Of course my makeshift wooden equipment could never be comparable to modern safety equipment. But I needed at least a single piece of dragon bone so that we wouldn't have to go from one City to another like beggars. Even raw, unprocessed Dragon bone can be more valuable than an entire box of gold coins. Apart from searching the sword, by taking a piece of Dragon bone, we will at least have better chances to negotiate with Qarth. Of course I would never trust them. But having something valuable in our hand will definitely prove very useful.

After they were prepared with their own floating life jackets and other necessary equipment, a long rope created from vines was attached to the massive raft before Jorah and Aggo climbed up on the raft and slowly paddled away from the shore.

Just a few metres away from the shore, the rope on our side ended, stopping them in their tracks. I quickly ordered the others to tie more vines and create a longer rope for the raft.

By the time they reached the small piece of land I realized how big the Dragon actually was. Since we found no predators in the water after testing with those corpses, there was a very little chance of any Predator showing up to cause trouble. Both of them remained on the small piece of land in the middle of the lake for almost an hour. During their search, Jorah naturally found the sword and decided to bring it back with him. After getting two pieces of dragon bones, it took them three trips to bring back the two pieces of Dragon bones.

By the time the entire operation ended it was almost the time of sunset.

"So this sword has pierced through this piece of bone ?" I asked Jorah, inspecting the dull and rusty blade which has completely pierced through the large bone.

"Yes khaleesi. This bone comes from the rib cage of the dragon. This piece of bone was actually broken from the ribs. I tried to pull out the sword but I failed. We need someone to cut it out from the bone so that it wouldn't go cheap." Jorah said pointing at the bone.

"No, no need for that." I told him before going towards the sword.

Surprisingly the hilt of the blade to its blade was completely fine without a spec of rust on it. But the same thing cannot be said for the blade. It was completely dull and rusty. I didn't know if the sword was usable, but I went to touch it anyway. But after holding its hilt I was disappointed because there was nothing special about it. The sword didn't feel anything special.

"Khaleesi !" The sudden shout from behind startled me. Just as I was about to retrieve my hand I accidentally cut it on the hilt. For a moment I thought my entire old self had shifted before everything became normal.

'What the hell was that ?'

"Khaleesi !" Unfortunately I didn't have the time to think about what had happened just now. I covered up my bleeding hand and turned towards one of my blood riders.

"What is it, Rakharo ?"

"Khaleesi, I have spotted a rangar in the distance. He didn't notice me. But there is a chance that we might run into another Khalasar."

".... I see, we will not light any fire pit tonight. Everyone is tired after days of work. We will hide here. If nothing is wrong then there is a good chance that they wouldn't even come here. We will see if the path is clear for us to enter the red waste tomorrow morning. Only then, will we move forward." I told Rakharo.

"Khaleesi, should we prepare to defend ourselves ?" Qhono asked me.

"We should, but first, move all those tents from the hill into the forest. There should be no evidence of us camping here left behind.

Prepare to move !" I ordered the people around us.

All of our tents were moved from the hill to the forest surrounding the lake. By the time the sun went down completely and darkness enveloped the atmosphere we had taken shelter in the forest.

It was necessary. Usually even a small Khalasar has around five to ten thousand people. And at least 40 percent of that population are fighters. I don't know if I could pull up that conqueror's haki again. So hiding what's the best strategy.
