Chapter 101 - Chapter 101

"No way, this isn't like the group battles I imagined."

"Aren't all the Pokémon down there first-stage evolutions...?"

"Looks like a bunch of little kids fighting."

"No, there are a few second-stage evolutions, but they don't look very strong either!"

When Leaf and the others arrived at the location of the "group battle," they were immediately a bit disappointed.

There were quite a few Pokémon fighting each other, probably around fifty in total.

And they weren't all Fire-type Pokémon.

One side was Charmander, and the other was Geodude. They were probably fighting over territory or food.

Wild Pokémon only fight over these two things.

If they are from the same group, fighting over mating rights is also common.

"The Fire-type Pokémon over there look decent."

"Don't know if they're strong, but they're not ugly and quite agile."

They had also encountered Geodude in the cave earlier.

Cinnabar Cave, although a gathering place for Fire-type Pokémon, still had some Pokémon of other types.

Geodude and Zubat were practically born for caves.

In the entire Pokémon world, most caves had these two types of Pokémon; there were just so many of them.

"Beep"

"Charmander, the Lizard Pokémon."

"Charmander is a bipedal, reptilian Pokémon. Its body is primarily orange, while its underside and the tip of its tail are a pale yellow."

"Charmander has blue eyes and four small fangs visible in its upper and lower jaws. Its limbs are short, with four very short fingers and three clawed toes."

"The most notable feature of Charmander is the flame that burns at the tip of its tail. The flame's size and brightness reflect its health and mood: a strong flame indicates good health, a weak flame indicates fatigue, a flickering flame indicates happiness, and a blazing flame indicates anger."

"Charmander is born with a flame on its tail, but because it is not yet familiar with fire, it may accidentally burn itself. Legend says that when the flame on its tail goes out, Charmander's life ends. However, as long as it is healthy, the flame on its tail will burn strongly even if its whole body is soaked."

"Charmander has no gender differences."

"Charmander is adept at breathing fire for attacks and can learn many Fire-type moves. The power of these moves is closely related to Charmander's mental state. Its teeth, claws, and tail are also often important weapons for attacking enemies."

"Note: Charmander exhibits a strong sense of community, calling other members of its group to share any food it finds."

...

"Very good." Leaf, who had put away his Pokédex, generously gave a positive evaluation.

He liked Pokémon with a strong sense of community the most.

Otherwise, if they couldn't integrate into the group after being caught, it would be very troublesome.

"What do you guys think?" Leaf glanced at Serena and Dawn, who hadn't said anything. "These Fire-type Pokémon called Charmander, they should be worth training, right?"

"They are," Serena replied, exchanging a look with Dawn, remembering a friend. "Charmander is indeed good among Fire-type Pokémon."

"In terms of practicality, it's much better than the Vulpix from before."

"It has 'dragon' in its name, will its second-stage evolution have Dragon-type attributes?" Leaf suddenly asked.

"No, it doesn't," the two girls shook their heads.

"The current Charmander is a single Fire-type Pokémon. Its second-stage evolution, Charizard, will grow wings and become a Flying/Fire-type Pokémon."

"It's quite large and big enough to carry you flying in the sky."

"It can evolve wings?" Leaf was taken aback and immediately decided to catch a Charmander.

At this moment, there were at least twenty Charmander fighting the Geodude. Leaf certainly couldn't catch so many Pokémon at once, so he and the two girls carefully observed, trying to find the leader of this group of Charmander.

"That one!"

Serena suddenly pointed to a Charmander that was very active and constantly jumping around.

When she pointed it out, Leaf and Dawn had actually noticed it as well.

However, they wanted to observe for a bit longer and didn't say anything.

"That one is indeed the leader of the Charmander," Dawn nodded. "Even the larger, first-stage evolution Charmeleon aren't as active as it, and they seem to be following its commands."

"Its talent and potential are both good, we can catch it."

"Then let's not wait, let's make a move!" Leaf was a bit excited and directly threw out two Poké Balls.

"Lapras, come out."

"Milotic, come out."

"First, get rid of all the Geodude!"

Having defeated even veteran Elite Four members, the skilled and bold Leaf directly jumped onto the battlefield.

In an instant, all the wild Pokémon looked at him.

But before the wild Pokémon present could react, Lapras and Milotic, having received their orders, had already launched their attacks.

"Pew pew pew"

To conserve energy, Lapras and Milotic didn't choose powerful Water-type moves but used the common move Water Gun.

One was an Elite Four-level Pokémon, and the other was a high-level Elite Pokémon. The Water Guns fired by Lapras and Milotic were fast and fierce, comparable to machine guns, without stopping.

"Roar roar"

The Geodude were hit squarely by the Water Guns and quickly fled in panic. A few Graveler might have wanted to resist, but after being hit by a Water Gun, they immediately followed suit and ran away.

The Charmander didn't know what was going on. When the Geodude were repelled, they also began to retreat quickly.

---

These humans are not to be trifled with.

The Geodude, who had been evenly matched with their own kind just moments ago, were defeated in a few moves.

Ground-types were weak against Water-types, and Fire-types were also weak against Water-types. If it were them, the outcome would be the same.

"Don't let that Charmander get away!"

Leaf pointed at the most active leader Charmander and immediately followed it.

But Cinnabar Cave was Charmander's territory, and since Milotic and Lapras weren't in water, they were quickly left a hundred or two hundred meters behind.

"Come out, Gengar."

Having no other choice, Leaf had to summon another Pokémon.

In this terrain, only Gengar could keep up with Charmander.

"Roar"

The two Pokémon chased after each other, moving very quickly.

Leaf and the two girls followed behind and suddenly heard a roar.

"That's the sound of a Charizard."

Serena immediately warned, "I didn't expect there to be a second-stage evolved Charizard in Cinnabar Cave. If it's an Elite Four-level Pokémon, your Gengar will be in danger."

"Let's hurry up!"

Leaf was a bit surprised that Serena was so concerned about his Gengar.

But he was very confident in Gengar.

"No need to rush so much. No matter how strong a wild Pokémon is, it shouldn't be stronger than Lorelei's Pokémon."

"Don't worry, it'll be fine."

Poor Lorelei, she was being brought up again.

As Leaf expected, not only was everything fine, but there wasn't even a fight.

Gengar stood twenty meters in front of Charizard, which must have been the safe distance it calculated. The two Pokémon were facing each other.

And the Charmander they had their eyes on was hiding behind Charizard. There must have been some familial relationship between these two Pokémon.

"This Charizard's aura... it should be Elite Four-level."

"I heard that eggs hatched from Elite Four-level Pokémon have even better quality. No wonder that Charmander is so special."

"Yeah," Leaf nodded, then gave Lapras and Milotic behind him a look.

The two Water-type Pokémon stood on either side of Gengar.

"Roar!"

Charizard was angry. It was obvious that they were planning a three-on-one beatdown!

Even against just an Elite Four-level Gengar, Charizard felt it might not be able to win.

The reason it had reached the Elite Four level was mostly because it had lived a long time. The Charizard born at the same time as it had either been caught by humans and disappeared or had died in tribal conflicts.

Now it was the only one left leading the group. If something happened to it...

"Are you Charmander's parents?" Leaf didn't know if the Charizard in front of him was male or female, but he thought calling it parents would be more appropriate.

"To be honest, I really like your Charmander. Can you let me catch it?"

"Roar roar roar" Charizard roared angrily.

This human in front of it was too tactless.

How could any parent let their child be caught by it like this?

"Roar" The Charmander next to Charizard also cried out.

Leaf understood. The Charmander was telling Charizard to attack and burn Leaf to death.

Quite brutal.

I like it!

Leaf smiled.

Don't worry, I'll treat it well in the future. At least it'll be more promising than staying in this small Cinnabar Cave.

Charmander, I can tell you're not one to sit still.

Are you really willing to stay here forever, fighting over territory with Pokémon like Geodude every day?

Charmander seemed a bit moved by his words, while Serena and Dawn exchanged surprised glances.

They had never seen a trainer try to catch a Pokémon this way before.

Leaf's strength was overwhelming right now. As long as he had enough Poké Balls, he could catch not only Charmander but even the Elite Four-level Charizard in front of him.

As for why Leaf was doing this, he had his reasons.

By laying everything out in the open now and getting the Pokémon to willingly be caught, he wouldn't need to do so much preparatory work later.

However, he was probably overthinking it.

Any Pokémon that stepped onto his island and saw those Mythical Pokémon calling Leaf their master wouldn't dare to disobey.

"Wah!"

"Tch!"

While their master could tolerate Charizard and Charmander's dawdling, Lapras and Gengar, the two Elite Four-level Pokémon, were starting to get impatient.

And while Milotic didn't make any threatening sounds, a cold glint flashed in its large eyes.

In their opinion, all Pokémon in the entire Pokémon world should submit to their master. What were Charmander and Charizard?

Even Mythical Pokémon on the island were often scolded and even beaten by Leaf.

Seeing Lapras and Gengar issue their final warning, Charizard still refused to hand over its beloved child.

Sigh…

Are you forcing my hand?

Leaf sighed helplessly.

And it was this sigh that finally made the Elite Four-level Charizard realize Leaf's terrifying nature.

The human in front of it...

What great terror!

Moreover, there were auras of multiple Mythical Pokémon!

Perhaps, if Charmander followed this human, it could break through the limits of their species and become the strongest Charizard in history...

Charizard pondered for a moment and made a difficult decision.

Slowly, with reluctance and hope, it pushed Charmander away from its side.
