Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Memory & Pain | Lost Summers

"Say Fu Xia, do you believe in reincarnation?" The reflection in the water asked.

The beach was silent except for the sound of calming waves, the rippling for the water was soothing, Fu Xia's vision blurring as she took off her glasses to look into the water beneath her shoeless feet.

"Maybe, perhaps in another life everything will be alright."

"Then maybe it's time we tried again," She said, the younger visage of a black short haired girl wearing a beach dress appearing momentarily in the water.

"Try again huh?" I said, the lasting image of the younger self bringing bitter memories.

The beach was one that was specific as it was one that my family & I spent time on. Maybe it was about time I woke up to reality, where the rosy things were cast aside & the crimson seeped through.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring windchimes in my left ear.

Have you come to your senses yet?

Was the thought that came to me.

The world was alright, save for the repetition of occasional headaches that Cassian would suffer.

Perhaps another life would have said something, but for now everything was alright & standstill.

Pain, blotched ink & crimson liquid. How could things have ended up this way? The soft light of the bathroom irritated my eyes as I tried to stop my bleeding nose from getting all over the bathroom sink.

It was annoying as it was hard to stop the bleeding, pinching the nose & tilting back the neck. I had to roll up a tissue to stop the crimson liquid from dripping all over the place. As I went downstairs, searching for the fridge, I opened the freezer to pull out an ice pack to place on my neck.

The bleeding would stop or at least lessen after a few minutes of holding it in place, the tissue being replaced & Cassian going back to bed.

Another dilemma for another day, clouding one's thoughts & emotions.
