Chapter 5
"Huh?" Nora looked confused. She looked like a cute lost bunny.
Alice had to laugh at how her face looked.
The class was stunned. Did she just she was Alice? The Alice that didn't talk to anyone and was the ugliest girl on campus and wore fake piercings and screeched at anyone who came near her. The dumbest girl in the class.
That was the ethereal looking being in their class. The one who's laughter sounded like an angel was playing harps.
The door opened. Lee was in school. The girls brushed their hair, adjusting the cleavages, waving heartily at him.
He walked to the end of class where Alice sat.
"Get up, you're in my seat." He said rudely.
She also remembered him from her past life. He was the son of one of the biggest business companies in the world and the prettiest boy on campus with the worst personality she had ever seen on a human being.
"Are you deaf? If this is a plot to get my attention. It isn't working." He said with a frown looking down at her.
Some girls in the class snickered looking at her. They knew she was proud. She was still Alice but with the same nasty attitude and empty brain.
She looked him up and down. "If I remember clearly. This is my seat and that one over there, " She said pointing to the dusty seat close to the window. "is yours. Now leave me alone."
He looked at her with fury in his eyes . Like he was going to push her away from the chair any second.
He matched away from the chair moving to one empty seat in front.
"You don't want to cross him. He's going to get revenge in the worst way possible." Nora whispered to her, her glasses almost falling off the bridge of her nose.
"I'm ready for him. Let him come with all he got."
Nora looked at her with admiration. Like hearts were going to start coming out from her eyes any moment.
The first class had begun and attendance was starting.
"Dave Davis"
"Present."
"Alice Willis."
"Absent." A murmur sounded from the side of the classroom. Laughter sounded from all around.
"Present." Alice said, lifting her hand.
The class turned, looking at the ethereal angel who just answered.
"Miss, I said Alice Willis. Maybe you didn't hear well." The lecturer said moving the paper with doubt.
"I know sir, I am Alice Willis."
A collective gasp sounded from around the class looking at her in awe, confusion and shock.
"You're Alice Willis? The Fine Art major?" The Lecturer asked.
"Yes sir."
"Makeup is a wonder to society truly." He murmured, continuing with the class.
"Class dismissed. He said as they hung to pack their bags up.
"So do you want to go get coffee now?" Nora asked with a shy smile on her face.
"Sure why not." Alice said, flashing a wide smile.
As they passed by, from the corner of Alice's eye she saw something being set for her to trip and fall and easily sidestepped.
"Careful. I almost fell, you should move your bag to the side to avoid a mistake like that."She said looking at the girl with a smile.
The girl looked away guilty, busying herself with something else.
Alice and Nora walked down the school hallway, her eyes scanning the crowds of students. She had just gotten rid of her ugly makeup, and she felt like a new person. Everyone looked at her in awe and surprise as if trying to guess who she was. As she turned a corner, she spotted her step-sister, Octavia, taking a snack from the vending machine.
Octavia's eyes widened in surprise as she took in Alice's new look. "Alice, what's going on with you?" she asked, her voice dripping with disdain. "You look... different. Where's all the makeup?"
Alice smiled sweetly, enjoying the shock on Octavia's face. "I decided to ditch the war paint," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I'm trying out a new look."
Octavia raised an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "You look better with the makeup, to be honest," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "This... is not flattering. It brings too much attention to you. Let's go to my hostel. I should have something for you." She said, pulling her arm.
Alice's smile never wavered, but her eyes flashed with anger. She knew that Octavia was just trying to get under her skin, but she wasn't going to let her. "Thanks but no thanks. Thanks for the feedback, Octavia," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "You've always been so supportive."
Octavia rolled her eyes, but Alice could see the faintest glimmer of unease in her eyes. "Anything for you sister."
Just then, a tall, dark-haired boy walked into the hallway, his eyes scanning the crowds until they landed on Alice. A slow smile spread across his face, and Alice's eyes narrowed in response.
"Ah, speak of the devil," Alice said, her voice dripping with venom.
Grant's smile never wavered, but Alice could see the faintest glimmer of unease in his eyes.
"Alice, you didn't respond to my calls and you look so different."
"Yes. Thanks. I would like to talk to you privately. Nora please I'll meet up with you later." She said, smiling sweetly at her.
"Okay bye." Nora said, waving.
"I don't like that girl. I heard she's o a scholarship. She's just with you for your money." Octavia said, looking at Nora with disdain.
"Like you aren't too."
"Excuse me?"
"We'll talk later. I have other important things to attend to." Alice says turning away with Grant following her.
They turned to the open garden where no one was.
"Alice, you're bringing me to such a lonely place. Do you want something?" He says his eyes twinkling with mischief.
"I sure do. I'm ending things now. I want nothing more to do with you." Alice said, looking blankly at him.
