Chapter 12 - The Trap Tightens

The neon-lit streets of New York's underdistrict blurred as Peter Parker, Mad Spider, swung in pursuit of the Blackweb van carrying Gwen Stacy. It was 2030, and Earth-731's dystopian sprawl was a cage, Oscorp's bounty screens taunting him with Gwen's face. His blood-red costume was torn, his spider-powers pushed to their limit, but the pain from the electroshock torture fueled his Joker-like madness. "You think you can take her?" he laughed, his voice a manic edge as he webbed a drone from the sky. "Big mistake!" His regeneration healed grazes, but the burning in his body was relentless, each pulse a reminder of Oscorp's cruelty.

Flashback: At 16, Peter and Gwen shared a stolen moment in a school library, her hand brushing his as they read. "You make me feel safe," she whispered. He smiled, unaware that Oscorp's vans were waiting. Now, that safety was gone, and he'd tear the city apart to get her back.

Peter tracked the van to an Oscorp outpost, a fortified bunker in the industrial zone. Razor, battered but loyal, caught up, his EMP launcher ready. "This is a trap," he warned. Peter's grin was sharp. "Traps are my specialty." His spider-senses mapped the outpost—cameras, turrets, operatives. He swung in, webbing the cameras blind, his laughter echoing. "Knock knock!" he shouted, crashing through a skylight. Inside, Blackweb operatives waited, their shock-batons glowing. Peter danced through them, his agility unmatched, but the outpost was a decoy—no Gwen, just a holo-screen with Norman's face. "You're predictable, Subject 731," Norman said. "She's elsewhere."

Peter's rage boiled, his violence surging. He tore through operatives, his webbing and strength a chaotic storm. "Where is she?!" he roared, his laughter cold. Razor planted EMPs, disabling drones, but Peter's brutality—snapping an operative's arm—made him pause. "You're losing it, Spider," Razor said. Peter's eyes flickered, Gwen's absence a void in his mind. Flashback: At 20, Gwen hacked Oscorp's systems to ease Peter's pain, risking her life. Her sacrifice drove him now, his madness teetering.

Meanwhile, Gwen sat in a Blackweb cell, her hands cuffed but her mind sharp. She'd been trained in Oscorp's systems, and the cell's terminal was outdated. Her fingers worked, hacking the locks, her heart pounding. A flashback hit: at 18, she'd slipped Peter extra rations in the lab, her touch a secret promise. Now, she escaped, slipping into the outpost's vents, her tablet guiding her. She hacked a comms line, whispering to Peter: "I'm out. Find me."

Peter's spider-senses caught her voice, a lifeline. He swung through the outpost, dodging shock-batons, his regeneration soaking up hits. "Gwenny, you're a genius!" he laughed, his humor masking fear. He found her in a maintenance bay, her blonde hair streaked with grime. Their reunion was raw, their ritual beginning instantly—her touch soothing his pain, their bond obsessive. "Never again," he murmured, holding her close. Razor cleared a path, his EMPs frying the last drones.

They escaped into the night, the outpost burning behind them. Gwen's tablet held new data—details on Oscorp's prototype, a superhuman hunter. "They're coming for you," she said, her voice trembling. Peter's grin was wild. "Let 'em. I'm ready for the main event." But his madness worried her, the line between hero and villain blurring.

Cliffhanger: Mad Spider, Gwen, and Razor hide in the slums, the prototype's specs flashing on Gwen's tablet. "They built a killer," Peter laughs, his eyes chaotic, as Blackweb's signal hints at its approach.
