Tell them the truth that you don't feel comfortable talking to them when you feel like you're going to end up on a Netflix special or it's more like a murder interrogation then a conversation when you do away with the fear of judgment or punishment and you you literally open the complete door for access it's no longer closed there's no longer any fear of disclosing you know something that is going to get someone else in trouble because they feel like they need to be the moral police instead of the parent that can guide their child in the correct direction and and not have them face a life-altering moment outside of your home where anyone wrong move could literally change the rest of their lives because once you have a record it's there it's not going away and you're instantly judged no matter where you go apply for a job for school it doesn't matter because it does these kids don't have anywhere to go around here when when you're in poverty my son can't play school sports because well God forbid the tax dollars to fly that when he doesn't get good enough grades but he has ADHD but he can't play sports you know to run off that energy no not unless I pay then he can play for the city yeah because that makes sense! When everybody starts to accept the fact that every f****** child matters not just the ones that are easy that's when s*** changes!
