Tick-tock.
A sticky liquid fell from high above, striking the back of Vivian's neck.
She nearly let out a shriek, frantically scratching the itchy patch of skin, her entire body covered in goosebumps.
"Miss Roy, Miss Roy..."
Her voice trembled, "Can you hear me? Where are you?"
The deep forest seemed endless, with no clear paths. The eerie giant trees towered into the clouds, their branches like melted wax drips, hanging in the air, blocking out the sun. Birds with skull-like faces perched on the colorful leaves, staring intently at the lost girl.
"Miss Roy..."
Vivian's nose felt sore, her vision blurred with tears.
She trudged forward, stepping over roots and vines, barely keeping her footing. Her high heels were long gone, her soles pierced by plant burrs, causing sharp pain with each step. The surroundings grew increasingly eerie, with no direction leading home.
"Miss Roy, where on earth are you?"
Anyone in their right mind would know that Roy couldn't possibly be here.
