The old Marcus' parents weren't well off by any means. But his father was a chef in a good restaurant here, and had a good reputation. But he had been working tirelessly all his life and it was always under someone that he had to work. Thus he decided to start his own food truck. Marcus' mother was from Mexico and married his father, thus Marcus' father learnt a lot about the South American foods and had mastered it over the years.
Since they already had a home and the finances were in order, his father bought the food truck and it was supposed to start one month ago with his father leading the charge. But it never came to fruition and they died, replaced by Marcus from the original world.
While the new Marcus, who was from West Coast, had a good life too. But just like the old Marcus, he died in a road accident too. But unlike, the old Marcus, the new Marcus was an idiot. Why do you say so? Well what would you call a guy of 30 years of age riding his new bike for the first time and throttled it to 100 miles per hour in a freeway.
So yeah, he died after he rear-ended a police vehicle. See the heights of stupidity! He died almost instantly. Only after coming here, he realized that adrenaline could lead to deaths too. Anyways, the new Marcus was quite surprised when he found himself in early 2008 and that too in New York.
He had thought that he had travelled back in time since he was from 2025 in the original world. But once his eyes landed on the news that Tony Stark had become the youngest person to reach the Forbes billionaires list, he instantly knew that he was fucked.
Not in a bad way, but in the worse ways possible.
He checked multiple times to see if he was in any Marvel comics world, but sighed in relief when he got to know that it was the MCU. So it wasn't as crazy as he thought. Just like any other millennials, he was up to date with the MCU and at one point he was even obsessed with DC comics, so he knew his ways around the comics department.
But when he did come to know that he was in this world, it still shook him as he didn't think transmigration or isekai as the new generation likes to call it was at all possible. But he was thankful that he did get another chance of life. After he landed here, he started to think of ways he could get himself safe and even get hands on a safe and perfect super soldier serum.
If that was not possible than the Extremis would also be fine. But that went to the dumpster when Marcus realized that he had landed in this world with his own gimmick. And that gimmick was changing the extensions.
Now one must be confused of what that meant.
It would be better explained if one used an example. Let us take a stick for a reference. A normal stick might have the following properties.
Length: 95.0 cm
Diameter: 2.8 cm (shaft) / 4.0 cm (handle grip)
Weight: 1.34 kg
Center of Mass: 42.5 cm from base
Marcus could view such properties of any material or plants and trees around himself if he focused a bit. He could choose to see the basic properties and also the in-depth properties depending upon his concentration. It was basically him having a VR spectacles allowing him to see the properties of the things around himself.
Now that in itself wasn't mind blowing. It would fare well if he was doing some kind of scientific research, but other than that, this ability didn't have any plus points. At first Marcus was disappointed but that wasn't the end of his new found ability.
He could actually move the decimal point. What does he mean by that? Well, in the above example where it was shown that the weight of the stick was 1.34 kg, he could change the decimal point by one number, which means the stick could be either be changed to13.4 kg or 0.134 kg according to his needs, and he just needed to touch the thing that he wanted to change.
This might seem like a very insignificant power but when you think about it, this was a ground breaking ability. But it also didn't mean that this ability of his didn't come with restrictions. A particular property couldn't be changed another time. What it means is, in the above example, he couldn't make the same stick 134 kg or 0.0134 kg.
In other words no double moving of the decimal point. And it was still not the crazy part of the system. For explaining the crazy part, it would be the knowledge that came with it. In the above example, when Marcus changed the weight of the stick, he would be inserted with the knowledge into his brain of how he could make the stick of 13.4 kg from scratch.
So for example, if he changed the operating hours of a mobile battery from 30 hours to 300 hours, he would know how to make such battery, and all the associated knowledge involved in the making process. In other words, a huge technological leap.
Imagine, making a very efficient car and knowing the full knowledge to make one. This made him the most knowledgeable person in the whole world. Even Tony Stark would fall on his knees if he could ever touch his armor. But of course, Marcus didn't want to take a great leap forward instantly. He would show his fangs only when it was required.
He didn't need to be ultra rich to live his life comfortably. What he needed was power, his own personal power and though money could help him, it was limited.
