"Sorry little kid." Mo Ying hands her a handkerchief to wipe away the blood from her neck.
Readily accepting it, she wipes at her head and neck. She had thought she would have fainted under the table. After all, what had happened seemed almost like a state of panic.
She needed to better understand Yahui but it seemed some memories were being repressed. Why was it that Yahui decided that almost dying was a good time to reveal new memories?
"Do I get some money for almost dying?" She asked.
Though surprised, Mo Ying glanced over to Yongliang who was having a couple of tea with the guards. Yahui looked over to where the guards were, observing them.
Those two seemed to be well acquainted. What kind of a squad were they? It seemed this time didn't go well for them. Yahui sighed and looked down at her hands.
When she was under that table, she was unstable. Her mind was frantic and she was having trouble breathing. It was almost like Yahui truly was traumatized. That was understandable though.
Cha-ching.
Some copper and silver were handed to her on the table. A smile shows on her face. She didn't think she would actually get some money from this.
"I am Mo Ying." He stated.
Nodding her head, she counted the money on the table. If she has enough money, she won't have to worry about bullying. Her plan was to quit the school and start saving some money on the side.
If successful she'll help her father out with the fishing business and possibly even get a helping hand with starting her own.
"That was only payment for the physical trauma. I also need some for emotional and psychological trauma." Yahui's hand reached out for more.
"What a greedy and creative mind. But that doesn't work on us, kid." Yongliang interrupted their conversation.
The man posed with both arms folded and smiled. Mo Ying sighed and reached his hands towards Yongliang. Confused, Yongliang eyed his hand and scoffed.
"What? Are you really giving the kid pity money?" He asked.
"Compensation." She corrected him.
Mo Ying urged with his hand. With a dissatisfied look, Yongliang rolled his eyes and gave some money to Mo Ying. Mo Ying counts the money and hands it over to her.
"What's with the sudden kindness?" Yongliang irritatedly said.
"Your name?" Mo Ying questioned.
"Feng Yahui. Just a poor student." She started excitedly.
Yongliang stared hard at the money he gave away and gritted his teeth.
"Don't tell me. Is it?" Yongliang asked but stopped himself midway.
Mo Ying didn't budge an eye and looked carefully at Yahui who finished counting the money. She pocketed the coins and tucked away the handkerchief.
"I shall give you kind sirs the handkerchief back once it is clean." Yahui stated gleefully. She should make use of this situation.
"No need. We'll be leaving soon." Yongliang said.
—--
"Yahui, why are you not at school?" Uncle Jiao asked with a stick through his teeth.
She had left the restaurant and came home to get information on Yahui. Those flash of memories she had gotten changed everything that she had been observing so far.
"I've left something here. I'll return tomorrow. Don't worry." Yahui muttered.
"Why don't you just go back home then?" Uncle Jiao muttered through his teeth and shook his head.
Yahui remained obsolete and continued looking through the place. It seemed that Yahui took Uncle and Aunt Jiao's place very often.
She wasn't as comfortable at home as she was here. Everything she kept most likely was hidden here.
The memories she had witnessed were disturbing. Someone had died. She doesn't know who but she witnessed the murder happen.
She was put through the whole thing again because she was going through similar circumstances.
Looking through her old books, she found nothing besides a couple of notes and letters.
Letters from her younger sister and some notes from classes she had done and learned before. With a hurry, she went to the resting spot and began looking everywhere. Under the pillows, the sheets, and the bed.
Yet she found nothing that can give her a single clue. The faces of those people in her memories were blurry. She couldn't recall much of what was happening except for when the person died.
Not giving up, she decides it was best to look through the notes and letters. Maybe she left some sort of clue there. Unfolding the letter, she read to herself the content.
'I've been eating well. I Hope you are as well.'
'I've been doing well. I finally got a bonus. Celebrating with happiness.'
'Missing both Father and Mother. Always thinking of my elder sister in my heart. Hopefully the break comes sooner.'
As she read through the letters, she seemed to lose more hope. Maybe there really was no sort of hint that can point her to a direction.
Looking at the notes, it contained lessons on business as well as marketing. Nothing could be considered as evidence. As she skimmed through the notes, she kept noticing the small sketches on it.
It was always a bunny or a turtle. Swimming in weird ways that can be considered comical. It doesn't seem to be from Yahui though.
Stopping on a certain page, she sees the initials of someone, L.N.
Unable to recall anything that can bring the memory of the initials she laid back down considering all the things she can do and cannot.
She read through the notes once more but with no results. It seemed she was hitting a dead end.
Thinking hard about it, Xiang Fan came into her mind once more. This guy might have been doing a lot of good for her but she still couldn't shake off the feeling that there's got to be something wrong with him.
Huang Chin was so scared of him that he almost peed his pants. What was the status of Xiang Fan and why does he seem to have so much authority? WHy was he the only one that no one seemed to go against?
There was definitely something wrong with this situation. She really needed to dig deeper.
"Uncle, Why do I feel like I'm missing something?" Yahui asked as she walked out of the house. He looked around at her and shook his head.
"You must have missed something then. Why are you asking this old man?" He said sarcastically.
Yahui looked over at the man. He was rather sassy. She puckered her lips and thought to herself. It was rather weird indeed. Placing her hands on her temple she began thinking hard, trying to force another memory.
—--The Next Day
Yahui gripped onto the hems of her bottom climbing up the stairs to the temple. The class had been canceled for some reason. It seemed today was a sad day for everyone.
She had no clue of why the school was in mourning today but she was glad there wasn't a class. Avoiding the presence of any of her classmates, she stopped at the temple. With some offering in her hands, she hurriedly stopped in front of the statue.
Praying to herself, she wished for everything to be over soon. She wanted to truly understand why Yahui was like this and what caused her to become like this. She wanted to find a way back and meet her sister.
"Hehe, just don't make any noises." A voice whispered.
She opened her eyes and her ears perked up. There was giggling coming from somewhere near her. It was the sounds of some guy and girl.
The obscene noises seemed to draw her away from having a piece of mind as she got up from the ground and began walking away.
"Do you mind?" A familiar voice breaks through her ear's barrier. It was the sound of that one annoying guy.
The guy that accompanied Mo Ying. Why were they here? Were they now stalking her after she caused them to fail their mission or something?
She continued walking as fast as she could away from here. Another familiar voice drew her attention once more. It was Xiang Fan.
"Gege, how were the apricots?" He muttered.
From behind was Mo Ying and Yongliang while in front of her was Xiang Fan. Making up her mind she decided it was better to not approach Xiang Fan.
"Gege?" He asked.
"You-!"
Yongliang points at her as she hurriedly runs and hides behind them.
"Eh?" He said to himself as his eyebrow raised.
She covered herself and shrunk herself. As Xiang Fan approaches, Mo Ying could see that she was hiding from him. He glanced back and forth before he willingly blocked her from Xiang Fan's view.
"Little boy, what are you doing?" Yongliang poked her shoulder. Yahui peeks from them at the disappearing back of Xiang Fan. Judging from everything, she suspects Xiang Fan the most.
This guy may seem nice but he seemed like those people who would do stuff behind your back. Like those two face people. Yahui nods to herself, he definitely was that type.
"Kid…" Yongliang muttered out.
"Yahui?" Mo Ying asked.
Hearing her name, she widened her eyes and remembered what was happening here. She lets go of their shirts and gets up to tidy herself. Clearing her throat, she takes out the handkerchief and hands it to Mo Ying.
"I didn't expect you two great sirs to be here. Now I can return this." Yahui said unexpectedly. Originally, she had planned to return it after she extracted money from them but this sudden situation had caused her to not think rationally.
Well it didn't matter as long as she didn't run to any classmates.
"You were hiding from Xiang Fan?" Mo Ying asked.
"Yes, that guy is scary—-- wait a minute. Sir, how do you know his name?" She asked.
Mo Ying shuts his mouth as he realizes he did say the name out loud. Yongliang looked over and scratched his head.
"Wow, the weather is great today." Yongliang tried to change the topic. As if to retaliate, thunder began to strike followed by rainfall.
"Let's just…" Yongliang said defeated. Yahui nodded her head in agreement and the three walked their own separate ways.
