Chapter 114 - Chapter 114 - Daenerys’ Conquest

After dinner, Josh had someone drive Carter back to her home, while he returned to his estate in the countryside.

Although this meal had brought them closer, with Peggy Carter's personality, if Josh thought he could use this opportunity to make something happen between them, he was dreaming.

There had been rumors that Howard had once formally surrendered unconditionally in Germany, trying to steal a kiss from her while celebrating the victory in the European theater, but the result was that Carter punched him into the Thames River, almost drowning him.

Although the truth of this rumor was unknown, Josh did not want to provoke this situation.

Otherwise, getting beaten would be the minor issue; losing face would be the bigger problem.

"Sir, a telegram from America. President Roosevelt has been re-elected!" As soon as Josh returned to the estate, the butler brought him a telegram.

Due to the war's progress and the earlier interference by the Council in the elections, the results were delayed compared to the original timeline, but clearly, the Council's plan had failed.

However, with this outcome, the tough President might end up having a stroke, just like in history.

"Vito, please send a reply, telling Mr. Tommy to visit Mr. Leibler. If possible, during this period, he should try to make more contact with Vice President Truman!" Josh said while holding the telegram, thinking for a moment before instructing Vito.

Before the election results came out, Josh hadn't approached Truman because Truman wasn't one of the candidates but rather Roosevelt's running mate.

In the U.S. presidential election, after the president-elect took office, the running mate became the vice president and the Senate's president. Only if the president were incapacitated could the vice president take over.

If the Council's interference had succeeded and Roosevelt lost the election, then Josh's efforts to approach Truman would have been in vain.

So, before, the Council, led by Josh, had focused on Roosevelt's opponent, New York Governor Thomas Dewey.

Now that Roosevelt had been re-elected, it was meaningful for Josh to engage with Vice President Truman.

Since Josh was in Europe and couldn't directly approach Truman, John Leibler, representing the Chicago consortium, could handle the task, and with Leibler's sharpness, even if he didn't understand Josh's intent, he wouldn't slack off.

As for the Council...Heh, those old hands, when they were already preparing to strike at Roosevelt, how could they not have made preparations? Josh didn't need to worry about that.

"Okay, boss!" Vito nodded and went to send the telegram.

Josh then went back to his study alone, opened the trading device.

Soon, Daenerys' figure appeared on the screen in front of him. She was sitting on the Iron Throne, which symbolized the highest authority of the Westeros continent, but her expression was slightly gloomy.

"Not going well on the battlefield?" Seeing her expression, Josh couldn't help but tentatively ask.

At the beginning of last year, when Josh activated the system, the Game of Thrones world was in Westeros Year 301, just before Daenerys was about to return to Westeros.

However, because of the trading system, Daenerys delayed her landing and, while trading with Josh, focused on organizing Slaver's Bay and building her strength.

It wasn't until the beginning of this year that she officially landed on Dragonstone.

At that time, in Westeros, all the lords, except for Cersei, had already united under Jon Snow's leadership to form a coalition army to resist the Night King at the Wall.

After receiving the news of Daenerys' arrival, the coalition army was understandably nervous.

Jon Snow, who had become the actual leader of the coalition, was courageous and determined. Following the advice of his advisers, he visited Dragonstone with a corpse of an undead and attempted to convince Daenerys to join the coalition and lead her army north to fight the Night King together.

Daenerys, of course, didn't agree at first.

She said that she would fight, but only if Jon Snow submitted to her.

Jon Snow, now the Lord of the North and the leader of the coalition, naturally refused.

This resulted in a stalemate between them for a while.

However, Daenerys' two advisers, Tyrion and Varys, once again used their persuasive skills to convince her—on some level, the Night King was indeed a threat to all of humanity.

Furthermore, if she attacked Westeros while the coalition was fighting the undead, she would likely lose the support of the people.

Although Josh had reminded Daenerys that with her current military strength, she didn't need to worry about these things, Daenerys still decided to go north.

She made an agreement with the coalition kings: if Daenerys contributed the most to defeating the army of the undead, they would crown her as queen.

However, following Josh's advice, Daenerys secretly held back during her journey north. She used only the rifles that had been equipped for the Unsullied and hid the Italian cannons Josh had just traded.

She also, at Josh's suggestion, had her three dragons fitted with armor—light yet extremely strong titanium alloy breastplates crafted with technology from Yuri—and even attached dinosaur-hide armor plates on their wings, ensuring they wouldn't affect their flight.

—The only vulnerable parts of Daenerys' dragons were their soft underbellies and wings.

With this double protection, if the dragons were still killed by the Night King's ice spears or Westeros' giant crossbows, Josh didn't know what to say.

Thanks to this double armor, the dragons displayed incredible power when facing the undead army.

Even the Night King couldn't do anything to the three dragons, and when things started to go wrong, he wisely decided to retreat—after all, he was an immortal being, and he had already survived for thousands of years. He could just wait for a few thousand more years.

As for lifespan, dragons couldn't compare to the Night King, let alone Daenerys, a human.

Faced with Daenerys' victory, her three powerful dragons, and the formidable Unsullied army, the kings of the coalition, though reluctant, had no choice but to acknowledge her as the new queen.

After driving back the army of the undead and receiving the acknowledgment of the kings, Daenerys' next step was simple.

She would march directly to King's Landing and seek revenge on her archenemy, Cersei.

At this time, Cersei in King's Landing had done the same as in the original timeline—she had hired the Golden Company and, in a raid on Daenerys' fleet, captured Daenerys' handmaiden Missandei—Daenerys was not present this time.

After negotiations, Cersei refused to surrender and beheaded Missandei!

After this, Daenerys chose to sack the city and officially took King's Landing, sitting on the Iron Throne.

This time, Jon Snow, who wasn't as close to Daenerys and was still dealing with the aftermath of the war in the North, wouldn't be involved in killing Daenerys.

However, Daenerys' sack of the city still shocked the entire Westeros.

The kings who had just acknowledged Daenerys now turned against her, pushing Jon Snow out to lead a rebellion, forming an anti-Targaryen alliance.

Josh was asking about the situation in this war.

Theoretically, with Daenerys' strength, she should have been able to easily defeat the anti-Targaryen alliance.

"No, I won, and I won decisively!" Daenerys shook her head and said. "My army has already begun advancing into various territories. Unifying Westeros is just a matter of time."

"In that case, you should be happy, shouldn't you?" Josh said.

That's more like it. With three armored dragons, hundreds of cannons, thousands of guns, and enough bullets and shells, how could she not take down a mere Westeros?

Though it's called a continent, it's really no bigger than Western Europe.
