And so, they started on a journey to interrogate the locals. For the first time in his life, Ishar thought that staying in the cottage and arguing with Naren was a better option than the calamity he was currently facing.
Most of the locals were kind, sweet, and cooperative, but there were some who had the magical ability to irritate you to the point where you wished you could throw them off a cliff. Currently Ishar and Pratap were facing one such local.
As soon as they knocked on the door, they came face-to-face with a man who was half loaded with shaving cream. He was wearing a towel around his waist and thick gold chains weighed down his neck.
"What do you boys want?" He said, as if the most disgusting trash on Earth was thrown before him.
Pratap said in a joyous, kind tone, "Sir, we wanted to ask if you saw anything unusual going on over-",
"Oh! What are you now? Some big inspectors? Police officers that I would answer to? GET LOST!" and he slammed the door so hard that it shook on its hinges and rattled like a guilty criminal.
Pratap and Ishar, who had attained their maximum limit of listening to idiots and were doing their best at trying not to kill someone, were just about to turn around when they heard the door open again.
Ishar sucked in a deep breath, and was about to give the man a piece of his mind, when he saw that it was a girl of about 16-17 instead.
She spoke in an apologetic voice,
"I'm terribly sorry about my father. Somebody broke the window of his car today, and he has been in a bad mood ever since. Can I be of any help to you?".
Pratap, who looked absolutely relieved that it was not the half-shaved-man, said, "I was wondering if any of you say anything weird happened over that spot in the sea-," he pointed back, "-a few weeks ago."
The girl looked hesitant, but then said, "Anything? I can tell you about anything I saw?"
Ishar gave a persuasive nod.
She took a deep breath in and said,
"Listen. I'm going to be completely honest with you. Nobody believes me but I can assure you that what I saw actually happened in reality. I had a nightmare and I woke up at some point in the night.
I looked outside for something, anything, to calm myself down. That's when I saw it…some kind of greenish light, like a thick laser beam, went down straight into the water. It stayed there for a few minutes and eventually became invisible.
I have no idea what happened, but I'm trusting that you guys might have some answers."
